    Breathwork, daily meditation and physical exercises helped me a lot to go through panic attacks and reconnect myself. I learned to understand that I'm the only one who can adjust what is going on inside me.     Taking 5 seconds to breathe in, HOLD IT 5 seconds out 5 seconds has been a game changer - “deep breaths” advice didn’t work for me. I needed a tangible goal. 5.5.5

    Once I learned that stress was my reaction to, person, places, behaviors, issues and situations, I no longer had any stress in my life. Stress is My reaction and if it is my reaction I can control my reactions. It took me a while but I can truly say I am stress free. I believe the goal should always be peace. Once you taste true peace, you will protect your peace by any means necessary!

More appropriate would be to set a stage where You can develop into a connected being, connected in every thinkable direction, across any thinkable strata, and your actions are the liquid exchanged between them, your actions being inseparable from what you call today re-actions.

    I lived acrss the street from a man who had 2 white doves...I remember watching them fly around his land and after a while they'd return back to their cage....I would understand later that the doves were a reminder to look for understanding in my exterior world as they flew around their property outside and then my interior world when theyd willingly go back to their cage...as an adult i feel lucky to see the fellowship of beings and that they conspire to give guidance, unbeknownst to us all. "Grace" is the word I give to the conversation...our graciousness, if we are kind and courteous to others and to ourselves we can create an enjoyable experience in both worlds. Like learning a dance the movement of thought and being in grace, perhaps we're less likely to stumble and fall. What a lovely man...I'll bet he dances beautifully.

    One of the biggest realizations I have had recently is - life revolves around being and doing. We have to find balance between work and relaxation. To have responsibility, goals, purpose and to be virtuous. That is all what it is. Everyone has their own way in reaching those truths.

    Can't help but being brought to tears, how this hit home hard. So much has happened the past years and now struggling to find some balance and myself again, always tried to change someone else or to escape painful situations but the answer isn't out there... thank you for the lightbulb moments and a good lesson to practice and take with me.

    I learned recently that my problems are internal not external and that I must adjust to fit life. I can't adjust life to fit me. This has brought me me much peace.

    Is internal and external that different? Where does the one stop and the other really begin? Get drunk and try to walk a straight line. When you can't, is that external or internal? Is it possible to just internally ignore the drunkenness? Try to survive without eating or breathing. Without that external contribution there's nothing internal that you can shape to change things. This isn't to say there's nothing internal, but anything that can change can't be that. When we think about internal experience most of the time, I think we talk about things that are closely perceived and identified with. I might feel stress, this is because of patterns in my brain, these patterns might be caused by the release of adrenaline near my kidneys into my blood. If I do something to suppress the ability or increase my body's release of adrenaline or noradrenaline does this change my internal state or external state? The feeling of stress feels internal, but a kind of manipulation like that feels external. This is because we identify with the feeling in our brain in a way we don't identify with taking a pill or surgery. If I'm noticing a sensation in my hand, is that external or internal? Now what if that sensation is from the pressure that the carrot we're cutting puts on the knife and transfers to us? See what I mean? All of these internal sensations are from identification. We don't identify as the carrot, we might identify as the hand, we probably identify as the brain. If we have brain trauma and it causes us to feel depressed or feel incredible, is that an internal or external sensation? We will probably feel it's internal, but once it's identified that it's caused by something physical we might change our mind. This doesn't change the source of the feeling, it just changes which box we put it in, whether we take responsibility, identify, feel ownership over it.

    I think one of the very first epiphanies I had was about lowering my expectations about things in life, such that my response would not involve as much disappointment when expectations I had were not met. This was an emotional self preservation strategy. I must have had high expectations because I was constantly disappointed. So that direct connection between lowered expectations and less disappointment was applied everywhere, including in my marriage eventually. This internal management of disappointment through lowering expectations freed me from stress and allowed me to be less controlling of situations and people, and offered me the chance to focus on other things I did have control over....artistic expression for example. So, mastering my responses to external stimulus and events had to begin with me letting go of unreasonable expectations I had being tuned into the needs of the world and turning my focus inward to see what made me who I was and why I did certain things, had certain beliefs and certain responses and behaviors.

    Thank you Master Shi sheng, the most important thing he said was about the internal and external world, there is only one world, you cannot be just internal, they are one, you cannot separate yourself from yourself. David says this in psalms, who says I hate the double minded person, unstable in all his ways. He was not internal and external, he was one, this is why wholesome, is a great virtue, because you are whole, not partial. This is the difference between a cocky person and a confident, a cocky person will constantly retract his words to come up with witty responses while a confident person stick with not being above or below someone, he doesn’t think he’s better, he just knows the other person is not better, he doesn’t think the other is below him, he knows he isn’t higher. This is a man of humility and humble. Sadguruh also said that when you are always trying to admit self care, or having self help, or take care of your self, you are creating two people in one, we are only one. Which aligns with Confucius who says we all have two lives, and the first begins when we realize we only have one. You have to be a realist. This is not easy, as Gautama Buddha teaches that Mara and nibbana is a ying and Yang power struggle with temptation and control, we have to practice disciplines, habits, and have diligence over negligence, prudence over simplicity, wisdom over folly, righteousness over wickedness. I can assure you this is not so easy, Gautamas dharma chakra wheel, and the 4 noble truths is a fine tuning your mind with your spirit and body in unison. Everything effects everything else, if you skip work outs, that would effect your minds confidence, if you skip journaling, or calling your friends and or acolytes, this will diminish your spiritual connection, if one part falls the others happen like a micro dominos effect. I can assure you that the simple life is not so easy. But it’s so lively and fruitful, instead of just reading and working out I have to also have more collaborating, conversing in person, whether if it’s at church with the fellowship and pastor, or instead of just reading the Dhammapada and meditating actually go to a Buddhist temple and talking with the gurus and monks as Gautama did as well, we are not just animal but are spiritual beings.     The point he makes leading up to 16:00 is probably the most enlightening thing I've ever heard. 'Where you place the mind' ie how you're getting 'triggered' happens when you place the 'blame' on the outside and ignore the inside. The flipside of that is spending too much time internal ruminating and you end up losing track of what is happening outside (or your impact on the outside in relationships etc). Find that balance, and let the inside mirror the outside. Accept, then adjust.

    I like that athough Shi Heng Yi prioritises adjusting oneself internal world/repsonse to the external world, he also acknowledges that changing the external world is important, something that stoic philosophy doesn't delve much in

    The term "control" can always be more accurately replaced with "harmony." Imagine two kung fu masters having a battle. Though to the observer still locked in the paradigm of force and will, the victor seems to be in control, it is really the one most in harmony with his environment, the universe, his opponent, and himself, constructively interfering with and being supported and amplified by those energies who remains upright. The irony of letting go of control to the larger natural forces at play granting the effect and lasting peace of mind to the relinquisher that which is sought by one who seeks control.

    Becoming aware of your own thoughts and actions gives you the ability to adjust, change, that aspect of your life. Through practice, visualization, and awareness you can bring this change into your life. This process takes time and discipline to achieve. The science behind the way the brain works. It takes two months for the neurons, in your brain, to grow new connections. New thoughts and actions bring about new connections. Mastery comes after a year. The only thing in life that we can control, adjust, is our own thoughts and feelings. Our actions. Shi Heng Yi, touches on our inner world becoming our outer world. This principle of life is the driving force behind how each individual lives. Our thoughts and feelings directly affect the state of our energy. In turn our energy directly affects our outer world. You will bring into your life that which you put out into the world. I very much enjoy listening to him speak about what he's learned in his life

    I think I met this man before! If I'm right, he was helping a local business to adjust to their new premises. What an honour that I met him, or even a similar looking calming person! Helping workers to stress less in their work is surely a great idea. Also, the Shaolin Masters clearly know how to buy a quality kettle- I have one of those and they really help to make good, healthy, tea.
