Diana Ross is a total pro! All of those Blk artists who had to work the “chitlin’ circuit” learned how to own a stage and command an audience. I don’t know too many artists who could have handled a situation like that on stage solo. This concert should be required viewing for anyone pursuing a career in the performing arts.

Great video! I loved this performance. What a moment in fashion! From my research the colorful coat that she is wearing in the opening is by Issey Miyake. The orange crystal studded bodysuit was made by Elizabeth Courtney Costumes the same company that made the Marilyn Monroe Happy Birthday dress. Her makeup I believe was Lancome/Il Makiage. I remember Oprah said she wanted to know what mascara she used during this concert because when the rain came her mascara did not run and it was revealed that it was by Lancome. Im not 100 percent sure but believe her shoes are by Halston. Awesome video!! What a fashion Moment!

The whole orange body suit and the cape were by Miyake (like the Pieces of ice outfit) and also the strange pyjama she wore for Ribbon in the sky. Courtney did the gown for the final. I have the original sketches by Miyake

@@Unstoppable25 In those days Issey was the master of new, innovative fabrics. For her 1983 projects, she was surrounded by a whole new creative team, from her photographer, make up man and all. Unfortunately she never talk about that. We just have new names and that's it

OMG Philippe, you are so awesome thank you. Wow you uploaded this video 3 days ago I am so late. I noticed your costume the second I push play I love it, and you look good in it. I also love this concert as well back in 1983 I was probably about 15 we didn't have the Showtime channel so I visited my dad and watched the first and second day. I was so disappointed because it started to raining, what I didn't know she was going to perform the next day and that was an even awesome beautiful feeling it made me feel like wow she really loves her fans. I was also frightened for Miss Ross Because I feared she would get electrocuted I was wondering when are they going to give her a cordless microphone 🎤 later when I seen the cordless mic I was relieved. Back in 1983 I had a tape recorder and I recorded the first and second day. When the first concert was over my cousin and I went outside it started to rain we were so silly we started dancing and singing in the rain with my tape recorder playing the Central Park concert.❤ I just love the costume you are wearing, and I noticed the beautiful doll and you took it out of her box wonderful🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I thank you again for this video Philippe I truly appreciate it what an awesome friend, have a blessed and wonderful day.♥️💙🤍🧡💛🤎💞

How I wish I would have had a friend like you in my youth. I would have been dancing in the rain right along with you and your cousin. You have such precious memories. Oh thank you, ok I m on the day 2 suit. So sad to hear she was crying after this amazing concert. But that is why it became historic.

I attended both concerts incredible..At the time she had just released ROSS on RCA When released later on DVD they deleted Pieces Of lce and Lets Go Up because the album did not do well.....

Hey Philippe, I love you and your content dearly...and I agree, Miss Ross wore her catsuits beautifully! But, if we look back to the late 60s an older Josephine Baker appears in a rhinestone catsuit with a feather throw and huge headdress. During that time, Miss Baker was one of the first BIG stars who sported that look...which was considered very over-the-top. Again, job well done...thank you! 😎👌🏾👍🏾✌🏾

Thank you, you are so right. Of course the stars of music hall with La Baker being the trend setter, were the first to wear the catsuit and even earlier the black cat suit worn by the jewel thief character in 1910. Nevertheless I believe Miss Ross wearing this daring rock star version is the modern influence to all the newer artists. Thank you for being so supportive on all my silly vids.
