I had always noticed Diana’s throwback looks to the silver screen era but never appreciated it was Marlene that influenced her .Marlene had a lot of style and class l recall attending her furniture auction at Sotheby’s NY back in the 90s -there were some exquisite pieces . Diana Ross always comes across to me as someone with a huge sense of what’s right and wrong . She certainly handled that show with a lot of panache and humor nonetheless . Thank you Philippe for highlighting this hosting debut -is there anything she can’t turn her hand to ? What an accomplished person she is

Thanks for hi-lighting the direct influence of Dietrich's iconic wardrobe on Diana's style. She certainly looks glamorous in these shots. That awful show is cringe to watch- particularly the first where she co hosts with Elton John who is high on qualudes (as he has personally confirmed). Another fantastic mini documentary.

She was giving what the producers asked........ she gave it! Fabulous!!!

I remember watching these on TV and folks talking later. The first one she wore the same dress with yellow feathers and only unzipped the top. My cousin said she was pregnant, which explained everything. Then this year 2 she got the Entertainer of the Century from Billboard. I must've been 10 or 11 and I was glued to the TV. The other live event I remember my friends talking about in school was when she sang for the Academy Awards from the Netherlands(?). A horse drawn carriage in the middle of the night, she walks across the bridge and does the twirl in a big fur coat. All the girls loved it. Plus the build up was that Awards kept delaying her part. Then when it came on she was singing in the carriage and you couldn't see her at first. Lip synced but fabulous.

Yes she was pregnant with Chudney, and she introduced herself as big bird.

Did you know that Marlene appeared on stage inebriated and had to be structured/ anchord, wired, erected snd secured with wires and ropes to the stage ---platform to remain . balanced !!!! ---read article years ago in my 20s….. I will send u the article… as proof
