Hi Terry, thanks for your video and the interesting comparison between the two models from the same company. Very informative. I had the opportunity to listen to the Børresen 01 and the Børresen 01 Silver Supreme Edition once last year, but this is an even crazier story when you look at the prices.

Is a state of mind , that most part of us think ….so much money for bookshelf’s ? I tend to think , easier to accommodate , less interaction with the room, they image almost always way better then their bigger brothers , at least they disappear better , and with two good subwoofers I personally tend to prefer them to floorstand speakers , Don’t get me wrong if I was rich and had a huge space, it was another story , But I live in Europe , little to medium rooms = bookshelf’s

Copper foil is not used instead of polypropylene. The copper foil is the conductor and is probably used instead of an aluminum foil and it's likely still using polypropylene as the dielectric film. Can you get the correct specs please? This is very interesting.

@@PursuitPerfectSystem Uh yeah I did. They're saying the ceramic uses a polypropylene capacitor. The polypropylene is the dielectric. They're not stating what the foil is in the ceramic version. They're saying the diamond has a copper foil. They're not saying what the dielectric is in the capacitor for the diamond. You said the copper foil is used instead of polypropylene. This is an impossible statement. Hopefully this helps you better understand and maybe get the correct information from the manufacturer as I asked earlier?

Steve if you look at where the Technical specification is they state Ceramic version polypropylene caps. Diamond version Copper Foil caps - I looked them up audio note make copper foil caps as one example but there is no mention of which ones Marten use. They dont really give out much info.

@@PursuitPerfectSystem You're repeating exactly what I said. You're able to get a review pair but you can't ask them for more specific details? The dielectric can be any number of materials. There are plenty of manufacturers using copper foil instead of aluminum or tin. It's much more expensive and so they will usually use a more expensive dielectric than the cheap and common polypropylene dielectric.

The speakers look fantastic and I'm sure they sound equally as good I have listened to many of the Martin offerings but £19k (inc stands) for a set of stand mount speakers may be a bridge too far as you say the competition is huge at this price point and I'm sure a full range floor standing speaker will out perform the Duo's? You could buy a new pair of Cube Audio Nenufar floor standers for just shy of £14k and put the remaining £5k in the Bank or by more HiFi :-)

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

There is massive competition totally Matthew and this is stepping into a different price bracket for sure but its important to remember not everyone can have massive speakers, if your in a smaller room its possible this would be more than enough speaker and bigger speakers might be too much. That is a factor

These stand mounts face some extremely tough competition in their price bracket. I can think of at least half a dozen full range floor stand speakers that will definitely blow the Marten out of the water in dynamics and soundstage. The Duo Diamond most probably suit older audioohiles that preffer to listen at 70 decibels or below, at near or mid field listening distance. They likely are into bebop 50's-60's jazz. Not for me. This 61 year-old is addicted to large full range dynamic speakers. Thanks Terry.

I home demoed the standard ceramic Marten Parker Duo and went with the very similar configuration Vimberg Amea; the Amea won on added detail and musicality. I listen to a lot of jazz not bebop jazz-funk and living in London was able pre-Covid to listen to alot of live music up close and personal. What the Marten Parker Duo and Amea have is musicality; they sound like real music not Hi-Fi and I listen to a lot of music today 10hrs straight working through Billy Cobham's back catalogue. Augmented with a quality subwoofer; I have the REL Acoustics Carbon Special I am definitely full range and to my ears getting the best sound in my 4m x 7m lounge, tight, musical and dynamic. I couldn't see a floor stander giving better performance in my narrow lounge and the Parker Due and Amea weigh in at nearly 20kg each, that's more than a few floorstanders, your paying the Accuton divers, quality crossover components and rock solid build, obviously a premium ; however as they are my retirement speakers after my 20yr old Sonus Faber Electa Amator 2s; worth it in musical enjoyment.

The diamond version maybe good but not that good to be 8,000 GBP more than the other. 8,000 GBP buy's you a lot of hifi. At 17,500 GBP for a standmount is ludicrous. One would need to spend accordingly on the rest of the system, hate to think what the end $ result would be. At the end its only catering for 2% of people that can afford them. Want great value and top end performance look no further than Open Baffle and have heaps left for the rest of the system...Just thinking!
