    Thank you and outstanding as always Terry. I watched your review of the diamond version and then searched for this review on the ceramic version as I own a pair of vintage hand built Accuton Ceramic floor standers. The Parker Duo Sound Demo was a very good reference video, sorry to see it was removed. I contacted yet another US Audio store registered to sell Marten and received no response. I believe there are some issues with Marten here in the US. Great review of a great speaker Terry. In my comments on your sound demo for these Marten Duos, I questioned if they are special enough at their price. Because you loved them so much, I listened again to see what I missed. To me they're voicing is common to many contemporary hifi speakers, and that's a matter of personal preference, but these do most everything better than almost all of those. The way these reproduce the complex soaring orchestral cresciendos of the Rachmoninov with absolute composure, without the slightest strain, compression, loss of defenition or timber shift is very exciting and impressive. Their overall timing and flow is also exceptional , and I think now that these Duos will likely make lots of audiophiles verry happy and appreciate their worth. By the way, that Rachmoninov got some really bad reviews at it's premeire, and it's really good too. 🙂🤗😊 Thanks, Terry.

  • @williammiebach1798

    @williammiebach1798

    3 жыл бұрын

    That much is true. Terry uses pro grade mics and recording gear, wich is evidently pretty well set up and calibrated, as is the system he's demonstrating Of course no microphone or recording system is 100% transparent. Neither is the youtube audio transmission, or the playback rigs we listen to them on, so we need to take that into account, and listen through that signal chain as much as we can. We can still hear what a speaker (or any component) does in a natural and pleasing way to us, and what it doesn't. What it does well is generaly not going to be the recording or signal chain making it sound better or more natural than it would in person. .

How much better do they sound than my Tannoy XT 8f's driven with high-end tubes? Not much, I imagine. I saw the thumbnail and thought 'wow, they look really nice!' watched the video and heard the price then switched off the video. I did the same for the Dynaudio Heritage as well. I am looking at speakers to a couple of grand very soon so you can see what is different and then what you get or don't get more when you spend this kind of money. I wouldn't see the Marten Parker as just "stand mount" speakers, they are full range speakers just in a smaller body which has its distinct advantages if you dont need a larger speaker which in a lot of rooms, people wont

It spits out no end of detail which suits me but I find that it's lacking when it comes to the snare and bass drums. I'm used to a really prominent presence from these - maybe too much for most tastes. You mention in the review of the Marten Parker speakers (about 17:35) that the other integrated amp you tried had a 'darker, bassier sound'. Other than the amount of detail it provides I would say that the Leema doesn't favour any one area more than another which is probably ideal for many listeners. The Martens are again hot in the bass in your room and far from the makers + or - 2db response. Between 30 and 60hz between +5 and +10db with suck outs at 85, 180 and 350hz in spite of room treatment. This is what you get when you put a loud speaker system into a room I suppose! As you say the higher response is very good indeed.

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @PursuitPerfectSystem

    The bass response is largely room dictated and I want it hot like that for equal loudness you need a lot of bass at deeper freq and you need room gain for it. I have reviewed the Wilson already, they are not a speaker you can really compare to these Marten because they are designed with very different priorities in mind

    @@PursuitPerfectSystem I mentioned the Tune Tots because another reviewer has recently looked at them. He actually liked the bass from them although he noted they leveled off at 65hz. He lives in an apartment so maybe that is a plus for him. The Magico A1's specs show a sealed box design that goes down to 35hz with low 84db efficiency. Maybe you may get the chance to review these! It would be interesting to hear how they compare to the Martens in your room I would have thought.

    @@PursuitPerfectSystem I was interested in your opinion as you are very careful with how you craft your assessments but was interested as you have an excellent grasp and far more experience than I at reviewing gear. I did actually assess this combination in my dealer's showroom a week ago and now I am trying them at home next week. A new Diablo 300 and new Martens in piano walnut on stands to hook up with my Lumin X1. I am actually really excited. If I proceed with the purchase, I think it is likely to be my last! I cannot believe I am about to give up my Harbeth M40.2A's but the Marten Parker Duos are a great insight into true high end sound through which to enjoy my music. Keep up the great work.

    @@PursuitPerfectSystem They are coming on Marten's own dedicated stands, Terry. If I fall for them they are all staying. The amp was new out the box the nigh before my demo and the speakers are just new, too, so there may be some more break in required but I will try and be objective and will sit down to do A/B comparisons as far as that is possible and make one change at a time with some favourite, well known to me, pieces of music. Thanks for prompting me about the stands but I am quite good at doing my homework :) Take care.
