This video is a product review of the DeWALT 20V MAX 1/2" Hammer Drill (DCD985) I picked this up about 4 months ago at Lowes for $350. It was part of a combo that included the hammer drill and impact driver. It features 3 modes, hammer, drill and screw. It also has 3 speed settings and 22 adjustable torque settings. It is also compatiable with both the 1.5/Ah and the 3.0/Ah lithium ion batteries. Overall, this is one of the best drills you can buy for your money.

Got this kit, very happy with it no complaints. Great demo video.
you do deserve more viewers. you do a good job explaining and showing what the tools are capable of doing.
Excellent vid, I got that drill today.
things a beast gonna order one
Great video, thanks!
Nice review. I also own that set and love the impact driver. Im just waiting on the 4.0 ah batteries that the uk already has
great advice thank you
very informative
good video
Outstanding tool review. I have a question though. When you put these drills in drill and hammer drill mode, I'm pretty sure that the clutch becomes bypassed, correct? So the setting on the clutch would be useless.
That thing looks like an antique and as long as a cucumber.
I have the same hammer drill, its crazy how setting 3 on drill and screw is the weakest power yet its the strongest power when on hammer mode
This is a magnific
3/8" masonry bit? Looks more like 1/4". Great video! I just bought the dewalt brushless impact. That thing is a beast.
Good review! Say you were decking a deck wit 1x PT, using 2 1/2"- 3" screws. Could you get thru the morning on one fully charged battery?
Does it have an issue with recharge in cold weather? I store it in my garage which is semi-heated.
Am I right in saying that in uk this is not 20v its sold as 18v , bin looking for this drill and can only find 18v in uk
фантастика!!!
with this drill do you REALLY need a impact driver?
are you sure thats a 3/8th mason bit? looks like a 1/4
They are the same. Europe has laws that govern advertisements. The drill has a 20 V peak and then goes to 18 V. America allows Dewalt to use the 20 V, while Europe only allows 18 as its operating voltage.

i bought one of these a few months today i used the hammer drill (not the hammer function) to drill out the rivets on my truck's frame rail. when i got about half way through the job, i needed to take out the half inch bit i was using. the drill chuck would not release the bit. even with a pair of channel locks. when i needed the half inch bit later i tried to use the drill but the gears in the gear box were stripped and it wouldn't spin the bit if there was any resistance. So i went back to lowes to see what they could do. first nobody knew what they were doing, they had to call in two other people just to figure out what they needed to do. i figured since they sold the same drill as a bare tool (i bought the same kit as this guy did) that they could just give me a new drill. no they sent the drill off to wherever they send the drills and now I'm out of a drill. too bad.
