@Qwerty-ks8dn
5 жыл бұрын
@@toxendon Normally I would agree with that, certainly true with other top musicians, but in recent years his weakest efforts have been his favourite projects (COC and Ki) whereas projects he considered "pressured into recording" are brilliant (Sky Blue) or good (Transcendence). It's almost as if he prefers the average stuff he makes, while underrating his best. He is very strange that way. He also made a big fuss over Ghost which is not that great, comparatively speaking. I can't predict Empath, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it disappoints somewhat. I am sure it will have some amazing music, but overall it could be yet another hit-and-miss album which he overrated vastly. I am more interested in Moth, to be frank. Empath just seems to be a rehash of his entire career, which would be pointless. Genesis is certainly a rehash, a mosaic of tunes I've heard before from him. Genesis has no emotional depth, it's bombastic in a chewing-gum sort of way. It's nerd prog.

23:01 isn’t “a boat sculpture”. It’s ah-bow-t. Your expectation and your stereotype colours your hearing of the word. Same with “without”. He doesn’t say withoat. Sorry. Learn a lesson Dev had to learn about expectations of others.
That second guitar was soooo darrmn cool! I really want one !
Devy's tuning saved guitar for me. I wasn't progressing at all learning stuff and trying to write in either standard or dropped tunings. I decided to learn some DTB stuff and couldn't do that either until I found out about this completely alien tuning. It just opened this massive door and loads of stuff clicked into place. I'm still rubbish at shredding but that Ziltoid sounding bit at around 11:30 is easy. Thow on some delay and reverb to make it spacey and you can mess around for hours :)
Love Devin!
He's frank and that's the best thing about him. Amen.
I still remember when he was like a crazy metal head. He cleaned up so well since he went straight edge and stopped all the drugs and alcohol :) much respect to the guy
DEVIN IS AMAZING
The guy behind the music is every bit as interesting as the music itself!
Love this guy
If I ever save enough money to buy that ridiculously expensive stormbreaker, I will be the happiest person on the planet! My favorite musician ever also turns out to be a loving, down to earth person!!! ❤️😌❤️
Well the first song from the new album is out and it's fantastic. So if that's him making music that comes from his most honest place, to thine own self be true Devin!
Can't wait for Empath!
15 minutes in. I don't play guitar, never have, never will. Enthralled because Devy.
"knuckle dragging heavy metal" I'm in. And Fuck Yeah thanks for sharing this man
Man i hope Empath delivers... seriously stoked for the release.

Genesis is a weak track but hopefully an exception.

@@Qwerty-ks8dn Genesis is more of a compilation of all the sounds you can expect from the album. But yes, I fear it may be too ambitious. But I prefer him going in that direction than trying to be more commercialized and mainstream

ROAD COMEDY GOLD MOTHERFUCKERS NICE JOB! Devin, you are an inspiration to all of us who have struggled through the crucible of the world and haven't quite made it through yet.
WHAT A COOL AND TALENTED DEVIN IS
extremely interesting and deep. one of few who really reflects himself and his work in a brutally honest and self ironical way. and i must say this more so after listening to him talking about his encounter with nickelback's chad kroeger whom i of course did despise but now do see him in a different light. townsend is a very interesting artist, indeed.
15:50 - real talk and i concur, Sir.
Keep it up... People who want to work and play in our industry are hard too find hope to meet you some day
Love!!!!
If you ever get a chance to see his studio work vids where he is planning and going over parts in detail, and then see him perform everything, later, just an incredible artist, and he will make you laugh as well:)
Devin gives really good very high interviews.
Amazing arpeggios 😱
I really like Dave,he's himler,smart and talented.rare these days.
Awesome!
Thanks for being honest. I'll never understand the Nickleback hate, so strange. Dude's got crazy talent.
absolute flawed genius, what an amazing guitarist and human being..and just how big are his hands :D
OK, so I guess I need to tune this way! YES!!!!!
His playing is so distinct
sweet video awesome
Thx for sharing! What did you use to film this? Quality is amazing.
crazy how he can fit in there, given that he's a giant, and his guitar is about 3x as large as the ones in the store there.
I love the idea that one my idols is nervous around regular people.
I love how he reminds me of both David Letterman and Jim Carrey depending on the moment.
real geniuses are modests and down to Earth cause they don't have to show nothing to noone.
Genius.
The Kroeger story is awesome. :D The guy who gets insane amount of shit for being disingenuous told Devin he has to keep being true to himself and turn the vocals up. :D
Sounds like someone in the audience got a little too excited at around 14:18 ? 😆💨
