Nah, he's just human like many of us, and can't stand other people making annoying noises that he'd rather not have to listen to. I hate my neighbours slamming their car doors, or driving up and down their driveway, or talking loudly outside. I hate people who slam the door at work, or who open the door and let it slam, but never actually walk in. I hate people who shuffle their feet, or breath heavily, or make very small repeated coughing sounds because their breathing tubes are fucked. I guess really, I just hate anything that disturbs the peace, even if I'm being completely unreasonable about it. Spend enough time working with other people and you learn to hate everybody for everything within a few years.

Vai's instructional videos are way beyond "I hold my pick like that and I do my sweeps like that ..." on the contrary, Vai is the first one who will tell you to leave your technique behind and go deeper. Technique is a tool, guitar is a tool, what matters is identity. But I think Dev knows that, so ...
@TristanJCumpole

I'm pretty much on the fence with that. Some people like Vai naturally develop technique from playing, whilst some trip over a lack of technique and find themselves unable to just-play. Vai has a lot of large blind spots in translating his playing to other people, especially since they are not Vai.

Think of it as more of a meta clinic. You're not here to learn new ways to shred. It's more like interesting ways to find inspiration, how to not end up doing something you hate and ultimately, how to keep yourself sane when what you do for a living is to musically express your own emotions.
