this is why you go to see devin townsend, because sometimes things like this happen, he played my little shithole town a few years ago and they didnt realize how small the venue was, so he gave his band the night off and treated the audiance to a close intimate concert, taking requests until 1 in the morning, its a one of a kind experience that only he brings, the man is a canadian treasure.

I would too he has a lot of talent and a great show man!!! He also has a big heart I remember seeing him in Portland and he let everyone shake his hand at the end of the show and talk to him. So much humility other musicians, actors, pretty much everyone take notes on how to be great!!

He’s a class act. Dev’s the only musician I’ve seen by the front door of a venue after his set interacting with fans up close and personal

I'm a monitor engineer, the amount of technical faults here haven't happened to me thank fuck! this dude is so cool though, most other bands would flip out and be assholes, but this guy puts EVERYONE at ease, legend

I'm from Barcelona and my GF and i we was there!!!! Amazing guy, Professional guy.

Devin is so lovable. Just saw him in Tuska, which was just before this show. He has some great banter between songs. Shame they had technical difficulties right after leaving Helsinki, it was a great show.

The Canadians in a pool joke got me good. I wish a lot more artists would do this, most just walk off stage until it's fixed.

Respect. Audience smiled the whole time.

Devin is so good. This shows he really loves his fans. I would love to see him live.

Devin Townsend is my favorite person and I am so glad I got to meet him last year.

Devin has always been such a great showman. I will always hold his SYL years in a special place but you can tell he is so much happier with his life now that he has moved away from the extreme metal scene and has obviously started taking much better care of himself. The dude is an inspiration and he would probably make fun of me for saying that which I'm fine with.

I saw the last stop of Devin's most recent tour and he specifically said that this period of his career is the happiest and most satisfied he's ever been. He's absolutely an inspiration.

I love how Devin is SO nice to everyone, his audience, his band members and crew and he is so funny, I could listen to him for hours, when i saw him play solo in a small venue - Holylwood Bowl movie theatre in Auckland , he just wanted to engage with the audience between sets, and he was so entertaining, it was just as good as listening to him play and I think he would have gone all night if he was allowed to - He is the best!!

I attended his solo acoustic gig here in Adelaide it was in the function room of a small pub and it was one of the most intimate music experiences I've ever had, he was taking questions, requests, talking about memories hes had over his life, he even opened up a bit about his time doing SYL, and obviously the music was phenomenal!

Masterclass on how to interact with the audience when everything goes wrong.

Usually this would just suck.....but hey, stuff happens. But Devin makes it entertaining af!!! 🤣 What a guy! Glad I saw him live...2 times actually. First time was with Vai as openers for Extreme.....I hated it, while I loved Vai. I just wasn't ready yet for the force that is Devin Townsend. And like 7 years ago or something, with my son.....it was awesome!!!

I might enjoy him being funny as much as I would enjoy the show lol!

He's a true professional, giving the crowd what they paid for: entertainment courtesy of Devin & Co. - regardless of technical issues. He's also able to avoid taking himself too seriously while keeping the crowd engaged while the crew figures out what's wrong. Class act all the way.

Yea, any classic instrument and amplifier band would already have been half way through the set, cause they can just go as long as there's electricity. - But they should have like a cloned drive or something to hotswap in case crap like this happens. - Don't know what the issue was, but yea, computers... - I've actually seen it happen with this tiny Jazz-band where the piano-player was using a keyboard hooked up to a laptop as well. The damn laptop stalled the show because of the USB-cable or something. All the while the guitar rig, drumkit, and the vocalist's cords were ready to go.

@@michaelangeloh.5383 Normally you have two laptops running at once, running through an A/B switcher that's listening for a keep alive tone from A, and as soon as that drops it switches to B without anyone noticing. Also looks like their playback laptop is also running video which is strange.

@@thisiscentralcontrol Their playback laptop is probably not running video, but rather sending SMPTE to the video playback machine and the lighting console. I noticed both the video and the lights did a little bit whenever anything happened with the laptop.

I sat through the whole video and don't regret it! Always liked Devin but this is true showmanship.

This was awesome. If I get to see him live I pray they have tech issues. The crowd ended up getting an unforgettable moment with this.

This is a reason why it would be fun to hang out with Devin... nutty in a good way.

Total genius. His quality as a person equals the quality of his music.

He seems like the most down to earth dude on the planet. Would love to just hang out with him and talk gear for a single day.

I'm amazed about how this man could be funny, talented and entertaining. I know a bit about his funny side, from videos etc....but i wouldn't have believed so mush as video shown. More than that, i really appreciate the fact he never get pissed and start to rant against technicians or rest of the band. He got the situation instead just whining around and simply carried the show ALONE. Thats not only about Talent or Respect, that he dont need to show us anymore, we already know bout that. Thats about How to fking be A LEADER. On and Off the situation. On and Off the stage. Love this guy even more. Even more ! Be Prog You All Guys :)

Possibly the greatest front man ever in terms of humor and pure entertainment. What he does here is unbelievable....

This is the difference between REAL musicians and rockstars. Real musicians know that unexpected things happen, but the show must go on. Rockstars flip out, curse out the venue workers, destroy everything on the stage, and leave without actually performing. be a Devin Towsend, not a Gene Simmons.

The day I get to see a DTP concert, I honestly hope that there's a lot of technical issues before starting. This was simply hilariously awkward.

You could put Devvy onstage with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and he could entertain an audience for 90 minutes - put Axl Rose in the same situation and he'd lose it and storm off stage shouting at people. That's the difference between a PROFESSIONAL and a diva / douchebag - more power to you, man.

The whole purpose of attending a live music show is to be entertained. This is more entertaining than any music. The audience got more than their money's worth.

Dev is an awesome musician and a really cool guy. The entire band on stage have been really nice 3/3 times I got to meet them.

And imagine the best: people come to watch on KZread technical issues during concert. Normally people are annoyed, for Devin you will watch it again on youtube

this is the climax point of entertainment as an art form. he is fucking amazing, he was born to entertain !

Many other "professional" musicians would have lost their shit and would've gone on a rant about his unable technicians and bad bandmates. Not Devin, though.

I saw Spiritualized a few years ago, and a little bit in a guitar effect stopped working. The dude had a complete meltdown on stage and stormed off, show cancelled. It was so whack.

Not really. I've been to a ton of concerts where things go wrong. Rarely does a band freak the fuck out. They usually just stand there and bs into the mic.
