I agree, but to me it’s not surprising. I have two Orient Bambino’s One with a green dial, and one with the Pearl white. They are my “everyday go to’s” even though I have a couple of carriers and some Longines and Tissot which are significantly “more watch!” There’s something about their elegant functionality, at their price point, which gives me a certain peace if not joy! I’m just not as relaxed when I’m wearing my Cartier’! Their Kamasu dive watch looks and feels really good on the wrist, and is on my list. I own a Hydro Conquest which is a bit higher spec, but I actually prefer the fur. finish and size of the Kamasu. Orients got it going on!

@@dr.davidmiller6682 I am on the same page. I have a red dial Kamasu which I love wearing. I put on a matching red leather strap during winter to make it more of a daily watch and during summer, a nato strap to make it a stylish watch to wear at the beach. So versitile.

Absolutely love this tournament format, Teddy! Definitely would like to see this at the $500, $1500, $2000, $2500, etc price points and to do annually!

This was a fun and interesting little competition. I'm wearing my 42 mm Hamilton Khaki Field auto today so I was pleased that it's smaller sibling made the semi-final. Great everyday workhorse and contemporary watch, usually available at a very affordable price and way cheaper than the Murph.

All of these models and brands are great choices. They offer style, affordability, and reliability!

As someone who purchased a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto with a black strap as their 1st watch I can truly say I have no regrets. Seeing it come 4th was surprising against the Alpinist. Photos don't do it justice and in person it is stunning. Such a versatile watch.

I don’t disagree with the results but I do am kinda surprised. Love both the PRX and alpinist, and it is a very interesting matchup. I know it was NCAA bracket style, but wouldn’t like to see a reshuffle when a brand was facing itself, at least until it’s not longer possible to shuffle. Great video

This was fun... I have 4 of these watches myself... the Orient Kamasu, Orient Bambino (v7), Bulova Lunar Pilot and the Seiko 5 GMT... these have been my "entry level" purchases generally. I also see others that I have been eyeing... the Tissot Gentleman & PRX, CasiOak and Hamilton Field Khaki Auto. Looking forward to the next price range!

I liked it but I recommend giving the specs for each model as you did for the two winners at the end. This is a good way to expand our knowledge of the field of watch choices. Hope you do more of this with different categories of watches.

Thinking about the the various price-point collection videos that you've done (which I love), I'd point out that the top 2 don't make a bad 2 watch collection, together they are versatile and cover quite a few bases (and if we dig into the top 4 its even better). The data acquired from this sort of head to head bracket format could be the catalyst for the next generation of collection vids.....and we would all be here for it.

This was fun! I think doing a competition under $500 or $100, would be a blast too!

I had a PRX automatic with the blue waffle dial (very nice looking and comfortable to wear) and it developed helicopter rotor so I had to send it in for repair. Them my MIDO with basically the same movement developed the same issue. I sold both watches. I also have an Alpinist that looks very much like the one in the story. It’s been great. It will be a long time before I pick up another watch with any variant of the powermatic 80 movement

@@harveymanfrantinsingin7373 I bought the PRX new, and it started acting up within 6 or so months. To be fair to Tissot, they repaired it under warranty. I bought the Mido used so I don't really know how long it lasted before developing helicopter rotor. I also have a Citizen Tsuyosa which is IMO a better all around watch than the PRX. The citizen suffers from a crappy clasp on the bracelet, but in pretty much every other way is equal to or better than the PRX, and I've never had a Citizen/Miyota movement go bad like that. Both the Mido and the PRX were great to look at and wear, but that Powermatic80 (or whatever MIDO calls it when they use it) is a dealbreaker for me.

This was awesome! You should do a whole series on different price points. I know it’s a slippery slope, but it would be fun to do a microbrand version of this as well.

What a great idea for a video! Really appeals to me too, since my price range on watches is around $1,000 or less. Gives me a lot of good ideas for future watch purchases. Thanks!

As a Seiko diehard, I'm so happy my choice for the SPB121 ended up being second, it's such an amazing watch with a reliable workhorse Seiko movement. Now to go shopping for a PRX😂

The one “knock” I have against the Seiko 5 Batman GMT is that the blue/black bezel is often hard to read in many lighting conditions. It does not pop like the Rolex Batman bezel.

Agreed, but I also think the Sunburst is the better option in the Seiko 5 GMTs but I like popping dials!

Having both the PRX and the Lunar Pilot, I find the Lunar pilot so much more interesting. And with the quartz it's more accurate for day to day use. That being said, I love my PRX as well.

I figured Seiko and Hamilton were going to dominate as they are the best options under $1k IMO. I don’t like the PRX but it’s the current hotness. Very surprised the Casio square didn’t make the 16.

Agreed. The PRX is the watch for lemmings. Several better choices in this lineup. The PRX is going to age out HARD, and look the part of an early 20s fad. Meantime, the Hamiltons and Seikos will keep on rocking 50 years from now.

Considering that none of it's competitors have made it past low orbit, the Bulova Lunar Pilot not making it past the first round is a travesty. What was also surprising is the total lack of any Citizens. A sub $500 match needs to happen. This concept is brilliant and congratulations on the excellent content.

I didn't find it an upset for the Gentleman to beat the G-Shock. In fact, I was surprised to see the gentleman lose to the cocktail time. But great video, Teddy. Thoroughly enjoy the content.

I would chose gentleman always. For me PRX is ugly. Also It makes no sense to compare 80 euro Casioak g shock with almost 900 euro Tissot which is real watch.

@@samnangith19 Quartz is objectively better than mechanical. Every cheap Quartz watch will be more accurate than any “chronometer certified” modern Rolex

This video was an absolute blast. Please, yes, let's do more of this. Two takeaways from this video. One, I was pleased to see that the people who keep telling me dress watches are history, are simply wrong. They're still relevant and enjoyed by many. And two, I couldn't be happier in the final winner. My blue PRX gets more compliments and inquiries than almost any of my watches. It's truly a terrific watch for the money.

The PRX, for as tiring as the attention and accolades are, is just so good. My 35mm quartz ice blue is by far the best looking watch I have and is the most versatile - it looks good with any outfit.

I bought the blueberry from teddys store. I feel the opposite. No matter the lighting situation I cannot get the blue part of the bezel to appear as blue as in the vids. Fairly disappointed but still like the watch.

Alpinist and Hamilton Khaki Field are deserved icons of design and quality in this range.

PRX is a worthy and rightful winner. Certina DS Action Diver 43mm with ceramic bezel is a hidden gem in my humble opinion. Too bad this watch isn't widely available in the US.

I wasn't familiar with the Alpinist before this, but now I love it.

Seiko and Hamilton are absolute kings in that price bracket. Not a chance in hell I would chose the PRX over the gorgeous alpinist

@@CimIncIt’s obviously personal preference. I prefer my alpinist over my prx. I can see the appeal for both but I can definitely see people enjoying an alpinist over a prx if they only could pick one.

I have the prx myself, but the hype around the prx is getting a little bit boring now.

This was fantastic! I would stick with the price range and narrow it down to certain styles, it's tricky to pick between a dress watch and a dive watch for example.

As a marketing person Who the voters were/ what type of collectors your viewers are will impact the results. Doesn't mean these are the best .. this means that these are just the best chosen by your viewers. In my opinion the Gentleman is a better watch than the PRX, but I understand the appeal of the PRX.

I so agree with you! Visually, the integrated design DNA of the PRX speaks of the more aspirational watches that are out of most of our budgets. Once you actually hold and wear the Gentleman and compare them side by side, it makes the PRX feel cheap and “toy-like!” Granted, I personally like a bit of “heft” in my watches, but the Gentleman’s quality just outshines the PRX imho!

The problem with microbrands is that they're all essentially the same. You can pick any microbrand watch with your eyes closed and it's most likely a stainless steel, inspired design on something else, with a NH35 movement.

Without a doubt this is missing some great watches. Christopher Ward, farer, micro brands that could be considered such as zelos. This is basically just major brands for under a $1000. Microbrands and indie brands would have opened up another can of worms and they are less known by collectors so it would be hard for something in that range to win out against mass produced products given just familiarity. We can do a bracket of solely micros and indies in the future as that would be a fun one.

I would love to see more of this style of video with differing price ranges, brand v brand, ect.

I feel Citizen and Orient are now doing a much better job under $500, Seiko have become notorious with their QC issues even on watches that cost as much as a PRX auto. Also unpopular opinion but the Gentleman is a better value than the PRX. The movement is better, the quality is slightly more premium, the PRX to me just has the better bracelet.

Citizen, Orient, and Casio are THE watches of the sub $500 category imo. I would've put Seiko there too but as of late they're not really inspiring a lot of confidence with how they moved a lot of their popular models upmarket while not actually upgrading them substantially enough to warrant the price jump.

Social media pushes people to flex culture and hence Rolex, Patek and RM but then we have Teddy Baldassarre. Keep doing what you're doing. Dope Video

Great video Teddy!!! We need more tournaments

The Alpinist is a crowd fav - that green + guilt really pops. It's a colorway made popular by Pewdiepie with his Grand Seiko 62GS RIKKA Early Summer which also rocks the green + gilt. It can look dressy and casual, whereas I think the PRX is very buttoned up and looks very corporate and thus less versatile to my eyes. Both are solid. Gotta keep in mind though that for the price of either of them, you can get three San Martin pieces off Ali Express, if don't mind some homage action.

@@dellwright1407 I confess to be biased when it comes to the brand as 3 generations of my family were watchmakers at Hamilton in Lancaster, Pa, for 75 years. It was sad to see the brand’s demise during the quartz crisis. That the Swatch Group had added Hamilton under their umbrella and have been successful reviving the brand in a way true to its heritage is gratifying to me. I own 4 Hamiltons purchased recently and several inherited pieces from the 1940’s that have been restored. An important family reconnect. I love them all. The quality to price ratio is still a good value even as the prices have gone up in the past year or two. I know the lume is criticized a lot but personally not an issue with me. Good eyes can still see the time. But then I have cataracts ;-( I would not have known Hamilton still existed but for KZread and Teddy Baldassarre’s channel. He sent me down the rabbit hole!!

A shocking and somewhat frustrating aspect is that the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto could have been considered a sub-$500 watch not so long ago before the recent price hike.

Absolutely loved this video!!! I bet is heck of work behind it but amazing results! Would love to see this for various different price categories

I failed literally every single matchup results - except for the PRX matchups haha. At least I got the end right! Interesting to see the audience's thoughts on different watches - would love more polls like these on watch preferences from the audience, possibly with more explanations would be great! I think all enthusiasts love to hear watch stories, and more opinions and hidden thoughts/facts others may have that many have not considered or realised about the watch.

The PRX is currently my favorite watch. I can wear it all day comfortably and love just glancing down at the dial and brushes integrated case!

The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC,ETH...)

Firstly I am a Fan of Teddy and this channel but when I first saw this start to play out with the bracketing I thought it was going to be kind of hoakie.
