I just watched this a second time after making my reply. It's definitely more awkward than the first time, and imo Denzel is struggling to stay afloat in the Hollywood factory bubble in this particular instance. It's sad- like watching one of the few remaining lions of Africa having to make friends with the hyenas 😞

Most people just give Guillermo a hi and a wave and that’s cool but Denzel stood and gave Guillermo a proper greeting and a handshake. And this piece is way longer than normal talk show interviews. Denzel Washington is excellence and deserves it.

I appreciated that too, i just saw this and it imediatly blew my mind. Denzel just took the time with his hand out and stood there like bro let's proper greet eachother. I know if i was in Guillermo shoes i would take that moment and appreciate that my whole life.

Amazing intro. You could tell by the delay that Guillermo was surprised that Denzel intentionally wanted to greet him. Super awesome.

First movie was Carbon Copy in 1980. I think Charles Grodin was in it. P.S. It was George Segal who was on The Goldbergs. Also had Susan Saint James and Jack Warden. My favorite film was Devil In a Blue Dress. Came three years after The Pelican Brief and Malcolm X.

Denzel and Keanu once did a movie together - Much Ado About Nothing. Stephen Colbert once briefly mentioned the film to Denzel in reference to how many Shakespearean projects he’d worked on, and Denzel quickly interrupted him just to make sure everyone knew Keanu was in that movie with him. Class acts all the way. They’re both a couple of real ones.

Denzel is one of those rarest of rare human beings who can communicate with everyday people as if he is speaking directly to you not at you. “He’s good, he’s very good” to paraphrase a very famous person.

There are so many life lessons in there but it’s still a challenge and hard to watch family fade into dementia. Playing songs for them their youth can often brighten their day and take them back in their memories. Hang in there. 💜

I loved Denzel back then so much as a very young girl. I felt his aura then. Denzel is a kindred spirit. I adore him. So heartfelt and happy for his success. His heart and commitment to staying humble through his journey in Hollywood is admirable. I love his spirit 🙏🏾

Denzel has the type of confidence that can only come from a lifetime of being fair and principled, genuine and generous.

Denzel is such a legend, he has a fun and loose personality off screen. He seems so grounded and genuine. When you see him in movies it's business, and he delivers.

And this is why Denzel is one of my favourite African American actors of all time. Sydney Poitier is also one of my favourites also. 👏👏👍🙏

The best actor of his generation. He does it all so very well. And a decent human being to boot.

Denzel is a national treasure timeless acting and an excellent talent.

I watched The Tragedy of MacBeth; Denzel always get into characters unbelievably, he is such a great actor, humble and humorous man. Thanks for sharing the video of him and the 91-year young lady. How funny for him to recite from Training Day.

Well done Jimmy. This whole segment start to finish was 10 out of 10. Such a heart warming ending ;(

Love, love, love Denzel! I knew his feelings about Sydney Portier, over the years he has spoken of it…..what a class act.

Dang. He’s now an elder statesmen. He still gives me chills.

That entire encounter with the family in Chicago was just so wholesome I don't even know what to do. I hope he finally exchanges numbers with Mrs. Hubbard, wouldn't hurt to give her a ring from time to time to check in on her, I'm sure she'd like that!

"I heard Sidney Poitier curse". You can feel the love, the respect Denzel has for Mr. Poitier. Something about that moment shows how extraordinary Denzel is, IMO. It was so genuine.

He cried about once on a talk show. Talking about his mother and missed time. He's always trying to make her proud even though she's gone. Forget god and all that.. a son's love to his mother and imminent regret for lost time smelt arrogant men into men of class and humbleness. Sad it takes a mother dying to make people wake up. Can't teach the preciousness of life otherwise though..

He is my favorite actor of all time… So humble and smooth.

The real star here is Juanita Hubbard. I'm just loving her!!

I remember being a little girl in Trenton NJ and seeing cut-outs of Denzel in the local libraries and Boys & Girls Clubs. His greeting at the door was always warm and strong. Didn’t know what it meant until years later when I saw him in a Spike movie that it was a promo but knew it was the most genuine marketing campaign I ever experienced. Thank you Mr. Washington!🥰

@@denzelwashington1873 Man on Fire was such a well played and believable character with a story line that pierced through the toughest heart. Training Day was acting perfection. The Book of Eli was a profound script but was hard to believe someone could memorize an entire novel, but somehow you made people believe it could happen. American Gangster would probably be your most valued character to the critics and culture. You were most effective in Malcolm X . I can’t pick favorites very well out of all that talented work. You demonstrated human emotions can be conveyed in make believe that can be perceived as real life happenings.

I met him in Cape Town, he gave me a kiss on the cheek after I realised his double. I pulled over at next petrol station to brag to my friends none believed me till today but I know Mr Denzel shook my hand & kissed me on the cheek after I told him I was one of his biggest fans. At 41 living in Germany now looking forward to more of his awesome films
