He's not just a great actor.. moral values, no b.s. character, responsible, intact family with a supportive wife, kids, amazing reputation and more importantly he's not brainwashed by propoganda, a common sense guy (watch his interviews). His life is a blueprint for someone who wants to live a good and productive life. Haven't seen or heard a bad comment about him. What a life he's built!

Function of how films about black historical figures don't get made at the same ratio as one's about whites. Period. Look at how many roles that won Best Actor were about real life people in the last 30 years. Then see how many were white...which means Denzel was automatically disqualified from winning. Lincoln, Milk, Capote, King George, Churchill, the guy from Dallas Buyers Club, Władysław Szpilman, Christy Brown, David Helfgott, and Stephen Hawking. That's automatically 1/3rd of the roles he couldn't even play strictly because of race. Meanwhile, he's dragging nominations out of films like Training Day, Flight, and Roman J. Israel. I'd love to see Daniel Day Lewis made chicken salad out of a movie like Roman J. Israel. He was screwed in Malcolm X. He was screwed in The Hurricane. And he was royally screwed in Fences. He should have a legit five Academy Awards right now.

I knew as soon as you posted "The greatest actor of this generation" comment that morons would turn this into a race issue. It's not - not at all. Daniel Day Lewis is the greatest actor of this generation...no conspiracies, no racial bias, no Hollywood bigotry. The man has 3 oscars, and certainly deserves more. Most of his peers, and I'll bet Denzel would possibly admit the same belief as he is a humble man, consider this to be the case also. Some times things are simply the truth because they can't be denied. Day Lewis doesn't appear on chat shows and prefers to live quietly in Ireland away from the spotlight. But the impact of his performances bring him right to the forefront of the attention of his peers, critics, and movie goers alike. Denzel is an incredible actor - he deserved an oscar for Fences imo, but Day Lewis is on a different level to the chasing pack.

“Let the FIRST NAME carry all the weight AND THAT NAME IS...DENZEL”.

Denzel would be NOwhere without that eagle, protector, advisor, ride-or-die, perfection of support of a wife that he had the sense to choose from the start!!!!!!!!!!!

it took way too long for him to finally win this award. he is such an incredible actor.

Denzel washington looks like a man who is traumatized by some events in his life especially when mentioning late people. His facial expressions at certain moments tells it all when the subjects he speaks about become very serious. This tells me that this man is very very sincere, caring, genuine and loyal person.

Its nice to see one of the greatest African American actors received this award. Denzel is easily one of my favorite actors.

He turns embarrassing moments into laughter and flips it to a natural conversation after the fact . I love this family, they were truly chosen by God to be together :) . Sometimes at night, I lay in my bed and listen to his motivational videos on here, because it inspires me to pursue my dreams and inventions 😌. I pray that one day, I'll be able to meet him and his family, it would bring such joy to my heart ❤️

I see a lot of positive comments and I want to keep it going, but then I looked into the previous winners...... I just want to know how is it possible that George Clooney was given this award before Denzel Washington? In my opinion just one Of Denzels classics (Malcolm X, Man On Fire, Training Day, etc. etc.) takes a giant dump on Clooney's whole career. But I mean we're all human, we can't get it right everytime. I understand that. Then I looked at the reaction of the people present during both ceremonies, and it seems that the majority were glad to see Clooney win (smiles and smirks all around), but they were very stern and straight faced when Denzel won.....(even J-Lo didn't look too thrilled) why is that? I got the feeling that a lot of them never bothered to watch any Denzel Washington movies other than training day, & they were surprised that he strung together a strong career of topical & challenging films, like it was something they didn't notice until it was in front of them, then it was like, oh shit, how did we let this happen. they seemed like they were shocked by everything tom hanks said about his career.
