About the AFI Life Achievement Award:
The highest honor given for a career in film, the AFI Life Achievement Award was established by the AFI Board of Trustees in 1973. Denzel Washington will receive the 47th AFI Life Achievement Award, celebrating his life and work. The special will air on TNT on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by an encore at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Sister network Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will also air the special in September, during a night of programming dedicated to Washington's work.

Not correct. It is fine for people to have faith and beliefs (even if they are unfounded) but for so many to give praise to a "God", when there is no concrete proof that such an entity exists, is to diminish the achievements of the human race. Humans don't get everything right, but those who praise "God" for their achievements don't blame "God" for their mistakes. Why not? If some power brings about the good things, then logically, one of two situations follows, either "God" is also responsible for the bad things or there is no "God" because a powerful "God" would not let bad things happen. Literature, technology etc is all created by humans, some people create because they certainly have some kind of faith but the bottom line is that humans are discoverers and creators not a "God". There is no text from any religion where a "God" gives humans a cooking lesson, or a lecture on physics, mathematics, chemistry, or a blue print on how to make a wheel or build a house. Religion and the idea of "Gods" are, after all, human creations just like everything else that is not naturally occurring.

There are two truths in this respect 1/ People have always believed some things without any concrete proof, 2/ Supernatural forces are a human invention. Considerable numbers of even well educated people once believed that the Earth was flat and that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Find five people that genuinely believe that now. The key with Christians in particular, is that they revere Jesus Christ (again no concrete proof of that person's existence) but any person who now claims to be the "son of God" gets put in an asylum. A fair amount of selective hypocrisy there. What you think of my assertions doesn't affect the reality of the issues.
