It's possible that is what's meant, but how many people would read that and think of it aplying to women/everyone? A lot would not. The patriarchy is embedded in liguistic habits. It's worth pointing them out and breaking that centuries old habit and frame of mind. Eg, "The greatest achivement is to be respected by those you respect most."

If it were Meryl Streep lauding Siguorney Weaver and someone said "A woman's greatest achievement is being respected by the women she respects the most." nobody would bat an eye. And rightly so. In this specific case, there were two men involved, which makes it entirely appropriate to say it that way. Find a real battle to fight.

AFL Life Achievement Award.... seems like something you would get AFTER you quit acting. Denzel is a fantastic actor. He makes you hate him, he makes you love him, he pulls emotions out of you as you sit in your chair about whatever roll he's playing. The first roll I remember seeing him in was Glory, and no one can forget the flogging scene. There have been countless rolls since, and I look forward to the rolls yet to come. Yet his life as an actor is not yet complete.

*The Shawshank Redemption* will forever be one of best films ever made. Morgan Freeman played a huge role in making that film what it was (& is). I loved him in *Unforgiven* as well.

The actor Denzel Washington might be good, but he is not a great person. I worked with him on Man On Fire, and as a person he left much to be desired, to clarify, the staff all yelled insults at him the day he left.

Two of the most wonderful male actors to have ever graced our screens. I will simply watch a film time and time again if either gentlemen are cast in it. It’s amazing how people you have never met, and probably never will, can fill some time in your life with thrills, tears, laughter and sorrow.

Two of my all time favorite actors. I know nothing of the craft, but the humanity and honesty of these gentlemen radiates in their performances.

Such gentleman...such admiration....such respect for these to men.....I believe Morgan and Denzel should be awarded the Nobel peace prize for ...just being friends and the two of the greatest actors the world has ever had the privilege.....of knowing.

Here we’re two of my favorite actors, really humbles. They didn’t let the fame govern their lives, in other word they were very wise to run their careers parallel to their private lifestyle.
