Mike, I always knew Demi as "she" for a long time. It does take time to get use to something new. It's like if you've got a friend named Mike that you've known for years and one day he tells you that he now wishes to be called Ross. It's going to take time, and even more of a mental shift for those of us who are older, I'm 60. There were simply no other options than he or she, for the majority of our lives and while I'm delighted that people have so many options for self expression now, the memory stores in my brain are quickly getting maxed out, so the loading is slow, and I'm sure that I'll mess up too.

@@AsiaandBJ yeah you should watch her 4 part documentary on this incident and her comeback. She ended up calling him over and sleeping with him again to show him she was in control... unfortunately this is when she relapsed even after this near death incident. She admits that was very unhealthy to do and didn’t heal the situation completely. Just the fact that she comes out and tells these truths! I mean man... I don’t know if I would admit something like that and I would only be admitting it to a handful of people. Letting it out is the first part in letting things go and she’s doing exactly that. We tend to carry around things that weigh us down a lot of time because of shame. I pray she isn’t tortured anymore by the devil (drugs). I had my own issues in the past and the way I explained it to my mom was that it was literally like you have a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. The devil when it comes to addiction is telling you just one more time... you can’t breathe and they don’t understand how tortured you are and if they did they would understand. It’s one of the most powerful things on this earth. For people that say it’s just a choice and not a mental health problem... They have no idea the mental beat down that devil gives you! And to say that when you know how big Pharmaceutical company’s pushed these pills with large cash incentives for someone to say it’s a choice you made.... ignorance is bliss I say because ai would rather be in their position and be ignorant than have been put through literal hell. Anyways....!!! 😂 You should review “My drug dealer was a Doctor” by Macklemore. It details what him and many people like him and I went through because of these drug pushing doctors. I was given a medication Called Opana and told it was a new non addictive narcotic. Well turns out it was 10 times stronger than oxycodone and morphine combined and the FDA made them pull their extended release version because the risks outweighed the benefits because it was way to strong

As someone has been noting in the comments, Demi identifies as non-binary with the pronouns they/them/their. It's still relatively new or not known for people who don't follow them closely. Their battle and honesty both regarding substance abuse, mental health, and identity is something that is much needed. I have been a fan of them most of my life and truly admire them as a musician and person ❤.

megs82. I can’t watch Demi anymore after that. The only individuals in history that ever referred to themselves as plural are 1. Multiple personalities [like Cybil, well documented case] and 2. Individuals that others say have been possessed with multiple demons referring to themselves as Legion. Always one of the two. So, for Demi to do that now means that Demi is either bat-sh*t crazy or, don’t entirely believe this is possible but I’m not taking any chances, possessed by multiple evil entities. I’ll let Demi be Demi. But I’m staying away and see how it plays out. Hope Demi gets the help Demi needs.

@@frankiek2269 I don't like the whole them/they thing, especially not requiring other people to say it. However, what you say is completely wrong. It's it's not referring to themselves as plural. It's a been a normal thing for at least hundreds of years to use they/them as a singular third-person pronoun for things without a gender or where you don't know the gender. An example from google: ""ask a friend if they could help". Very clearly a singular person being referred to as they in a case where you don't know the gender. What's more new is only accepting that and refusing he or she.

Demi’s words not mine in a podcast from 08/22 it doesn’t matter really matter to me so much but I hate the people that ALWAYS go out of their way to correct everyone. So every once in a while I speak up. Again it doesn’t affect my life. I’m just happy they are still on earth alive living to tell their story and pray they continue to be stronger than their demons. The really sad and infuriating thing is, they went to their "People", and said that they felt like they might slip, that they feared for their sobriety, exactly what they should have done given how they were feeling. Their management scolded them and reminded them of all their responsibilities, such as getting the paychecks out I'm guessing, and told them to pull themselves together. A bunch of parasitic asshats.
