Being an owner operator is what makes a big difference . Your name is on the bottom line on everything. Company driver, get in and drive, any problems, call dispatch.

And Dispatch will tell the receiver it's the driver's fault. I went to the company owner many times and had him call in the dispatcher. I won the argument every time by being calm and showing all the paperwork and Transcripts (recorded) from phone calls.

My dad's been trucking shy of 30 years. Last night, at Christmas get together at my grandmother's house my my asked him to about his thoughts on the Colorado situation. He did, and to paraphrase his views on the industry as a whole, he said it's gone down hill. P.S. he's pretty reluctant to teach me to drive. I think he doesn't want to have some responsibility if I do drive and I cause damage or injury. Also, I think I kind of hurt him when I told him bluntly that I do not want to drive a truck and later said I just want to do as a last resort job. For him, it's a passion and it is something he wanted to do since he was a little kid.

@@jed-henrywitkowski6470 It can be rewarding in the long run, but that can also be said about any other career. Trucking is hard on the mind, body, family life and social life. It can really test the fibers of your marriage. You can’t raise your family from the road and with the way world is headed now it’s more important than ever for both parents to there daily. For me it was just hard to live a healthy lifestyle, I could tell my health was declining each month. I came home and went local six months before the pandemic hit and in April 2020 I started hitting the gym hard and eventually started weight lifting and building muscle. I’m the healthiest I’ve been in my adult life and would change it for anything.

Consider this: I worked for a battery shop. Road machine comes in on truck similar to yours. 2 batteries to replace. Size was 8-D - about 130 pound monsters each. It took a fork lift to get the job done - over 8 feet above ground.

That pumper sat at the refurb plant in WI for months waiting to be repaired. I'm not surprised the batts went flat. I was trying to talk to the video...I know where the jump start terminals are on a Pierce fire truck! But no worries, of course you figured it out. Nice job as usual! I've dropped off rigs and picked up at the refurb plant, to drive, not flatbed, I enjoyed the video very much. Best channel on youtube!

Same, we have several Pierces in my department, I was yelling at the laptop but like any professional, you found them. A few years ago we started ordering them with remote battery post inside the drivers door jam. Good video, loved every minute of it. Growing up my best friends dad had a yellow Peterbilt cab over, I think he used to say he was a "Chem-Hauler" I think, we used to play all over that truck when he was home. Always thought the cab overs were so cool!

If you are in the Macon area, I live just west of Macon and would love to see Orwell in person. Thank you for the videos! I wonder if a solar charger with charge controller on the vehicle being hauled might save some hassle. Some solar panels can sit on the dashboard and be plugged into a 12 volt auxiliary outlet. Secondly I’ve seen modular high amp connectors used on tow trucks and electric factory equipment that could save you from jacking up the cab and chewing up your battery terminals. I hope that this helps you. Please keep the videos coming!

I LOVE your cab over. Right after I joined the military, my stepdad and I were going to go into the trucking business when I finished my 3 year hitch. But unfortunately, he was killed by a drunk driver. Our plan was his truck was going to be a 1975 KW regular truck and I was going to get a cab over. I didn’t like the long hood. Today, you don’t see many cab over trucks and they don’t build them like Europe does.

A lot of these rigs have a battery compartment access door inside of one of the cab man doors on the step, or have charging/jumping lugs in the same general area or underneath the cab. I've had to crawl under one of our E-One rigs many times to put a charger on the jumping lugs. Our newer E-Ones have them inside the drivers door. I can't speak for Pierce, as I've never worked with a Pierce. Most of these also have a manual cab raise independent of the DC driven hydraulic pump that normally raises the cab, but it takes a long, long time to raise it manually... and you still need either the engine or DC power for the main hydraulic or emergency hydraulic systems for aerial ladders that stow on cabs.

If it don't start the 5th time you try then I assure you trying 5 or 10 more times isn't going to help but hurt and keep draining it so if you try 3 times stop get jumper cables and not keep trying but you would think they would tell you too keep the main power cut off since fire trucks all have a main power kill switch....

(on the dead vehicle, the black is supposed to be grounded, I think, but, again. even FIVE MINUTES this way from a BREAKDOWN RECOVERY vehicle didn't work on any but my current car, which confused even those guys to high heaven.)
