Knew I seen that
I remember copping this on cassette as a kid...i was blown away with how good this guy was, truly ahead of his time...no surprise at all he went on to bigger and better things quick, I've seen him behind the scenes in alot of shit
Masterpiece of Hip Hop.
He tried to keep up with what was going on at the time but was slept on....but this was one of his hardest tracks 🔥🔥🔥
classic old school 89
After watching this video today, after initially watching it in the 80s/90s, now I can see clearly why Def Jef didn't make it. It was because he was trying to free himself and his people from those who have monopolized the business to include stealing people's souls: those who will sell themselves to the devil to play their wack shish!
he never got the attention for his rap that he should have 😕👍🏻

I remember back in the day when the soul brother were doing their routines at Leimert Park to Baldwin Hills Mall and Fox Hills. When you had local dance crews hanging out battling and freestyling. It was a time of great creativity.

@@wa.a.s.nfa.2786 I keep trying to tell people now back when I was growing up, if you couldn't dance, you were considered weak. Everyone battled. What happened to that part of hip hop. It's like the dance element died after Trouble T-Roy did.

What's crazy is that if here were from the east coast at that time he woulda been widely considered a legend... this might be the most underrated emcee ever bar none....

How is here because of "American Gods"?
I can’t believe hip hop like this turned into trash lil Lil Nas X.
He was alright not the best, too much dancin like Mc Hammer
The main knock on Def Jeff is that he carbon copied other main rappers styles. Here, he's stealing from big daddy kane and in "give it here" he's stealing from DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.
