I love how you mentioned that after doing your big declutter, that these smaller declutters are quicker and easier. I've began implementing your cleaning routines and I can already see that in my home!! Its amazing how less stress over cleaning, yet cleaning everyday in small amounts makes you feel so accomplished and more confident in life! Love it and thank you!!!

We moved to our home in 2020. Since we moved 10 min away, I actually moved most of it on my own using just a few bins. I made myself go through most of our possesions. I was able to declutter a lot. It was also a lot of work. I love this small area-at-a-time challenge.

I know it's backwards, but I normally declutter outerwear at the beginning of cooler weather here in PA. It gives me an idea of what new things I need for my kids, without having to "revisit" it a second time, if I declutter at the end of winter.

Same, we just put all of our winter stuff in a tote. And we Clarence shop wenter items for larger sizes to add in the tote. At the beginning of the winter season we go through the tote. It's the perfect time to donate jackets and things.

Definitely a good time to do it because thrift shops want coats and jackets before the weather gets bad. I try not to donate out of season things because they’re more likely to get trashed.

One sheet and one tea towel binned. I agree it gets easier with time, I did a huge declutter a couple of years ago and have kept going since then, I actually enjoy it 😊

This is a great time to decluttering outerwear! We put all of our outerwear together and donate to our local Junior Auxillary! They have a coat drive in our hometown in fall and it’s is such a great opportunity to give to someone who needs a coat! I served in Hunior Auxillary for six years and the service project opened my eyes to the needs of others to have the basics! I have never looked in my closet at coats the same, someone needs that coat I don’t wear! Thanks Stephanie for the encouragement! Love your channel so much! Your Tennessee friend and fan

I live in California, so "outerwear" is minimal, consisting of mostly sweatshirts that we keep in our dressers or bedroom closets. Watching your video today I did remember that I have a small collection of gloves and headbands that we bought for going to the snow one year. We've never used them since and have no plans for using them. I collected them up and put them in the donation box. Someone will be happy to get them at the thrift store! Thanks Steph for this Decluttering Challenge - I appreciate it!

I'm soooo glad I joined in with this decluttering challenge over April! Today I decluttered our tea towels, towels & linen cupboard, which I've been wanting to do since we moved here 14 months ago! It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be & was done in a flash! It's great to have it more tidy & organized & there actually wasn't much that needed throwing out at all! Yippee! It's even manageable with the chronic fatigue that I deal with as it's only a few minutes to get it done. I'm taking weekends off to recover & will gradually tackle the bigger projects in May.🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I'm so glad you shared that you're keeping something even though it doesn't spark joy. Some things you do because you have to, not because you love to or even want to. Those boots are practical, you need the functionality they provide. You already have them so you're being fiscally responsible by using what you have instead of spending money on something that sparks your fancy. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with spending money on things you like but it's important to prioritize how we spend our time and money. I'm finding this video series to be very helpful. Thanks.

This is a tough one, as it’s the only area I’ve kept “Someday” clothing (I’ve a couple beautiful red trench coats that haven’t fit for ten or so years..) I’m especially grateful for the ‘keep what sparks joy’ mentality. I’ve a collection of hats that I wear and I’m keeping all of them. Maybe I’ll create a box of items that I’ll commit to deciding on donating/keep by the end of the month ..but at least I’ll have moved them from their current location and closer to the door. Just two little tips to add for anyone interested. 1. It may be a could idea to wait until all laundry is caught up before throwing out any socks, gloves, or mittens that are missing their other half, as its possible they're in a dirty hamper somewhere. 2. Any items that are "a little big yet" or could be used in the future like kids clothes, shoes, etc. It may be wisdom to hold on to as inflation will likely get worse. Enjoyed the video!

Not an area I would typically think to declutter; thanks for the inspiration.

Wow, I cleaned out some OLD coats! So nice to keep decluttering a bit at a time. It is way easier than a huge 2 day declutter. I will randomly picture an item I can get rid of. Then I run and grab it and put it in the proper box. Retraining my mind-one item at a time!

I can already picture a couple of coats that have stayed around past their prime. Can't wait to release them. Thank you for this building motivation!

Living in the desert, we don’t have a lot of jacket weather. I don’t think we realize here just how many sweaters and jackets we accumulate! Phew. This was a good one!

I love that you are showing decluttering since you have been in a new home. Moving is a long process, especially after you move in to the new place. Thank you !! Have a lovely day ! 🥰💐🐣🐤🐇🌞🌛🌤🌷💗✝🇺🇲🥰💐🐣🐤🐇🌞🌛🌤🌷💗✝🇺🇲

I love spring - and being able to go through and put away coats. And snow pants. And snowboard gear. I can see the bottom of my coat rack again!

How great it is to have less and less to declutter as we curate what we want and need!

For small seasonal items we use one of those “over the door” clear pocket shoe organizers on our coat closet door. This works even for folding doors because the shoe bin is flexible. We use it for storing hats, gloves, gaiters, earmuffs, cleats, etc. Everyone can quickly find and put back their little things. Each bin has a clothes pin so if the item is wet it can be dried outside of its pocket. At the end of the year we put the whole thing on a hanger in the back of the coat closet. Been successful for 17 years so far. (Family of six!). Tallest gets top row ...down to smallest family member gets bottom row.

Each year when my kids got new winter gear, I would designate last year’s parka and snow pants as ‘around home messy’. Usually their winter things were only slightly small in the fall, when they seemed to want to play outside in the mud, or help wash something before winter really set in. Sometimes those slightly too small things could be used in early spring meltwater mud, as well, so I didn’t have to try to wash and dry soaked, filthy winter gear before school on Monday.

It's oddly satisfying, and motivating, to watch others work through a decluttwring session. I'll definitely be rewatching this series!!

I usually declutter outerwear at the beginning and end of winter because each gives you a different perspective of what you need or use.

This one was easy, postpartum weight gain & body changes forced me to declutter coats & shoes already 😁

Oh Steph... I was so hoping you would do a declutter on these items. I have so many items like this for me and my 3 grandsons... as you know with having kids it adds up so quickly. Also the boys shoe bins are overflowing and I have 2 big boxes of my own. I always just look at this stuff and walk away (overwhelmed) big time! I'm not lazy I have a major back disability and you have made it so incredibly possible for me to get this done. It's because you do things in small chunks and don't push for all or nothing and that's how I need to do things. I'm grandma (66) (widowed) and raising my 3 grandsons and disabled (back)... so it's very hard to do alot at once. Thank you so much for the motivation of doing a little at a time!!! I needed this!!!❤

Hopefully we’re finally done with winter weather so I can declutter the winter gear my kids have outgrown and put away the rest.
