Fights off the coyotes. People raise enough money to cover his surgeries/treatment. People raise so much money that there's leftovers to help other animals that don't have the same amount of headline attention.

On TV 11 it's stated the other great Pyrenees female Ann And Casper safely herded the sheep into a corner and then Casper went to work. 8 of those 11 coyotes he took down.

It's just my opinion, but I think veterinary costs are out of control :-(. Glad this dog is okay.

I Agee we took in a cat from the street after a couple of months my son went to get a well cheque up and shots 600 bucks and out sweet cat was found dead in the morning .it was all about the money not the care .

What a blessing. Not only is the farmer, his sheep, and his dog okay, but the surplus donations given to him are being used on future pups in need because of the dog's heroic actions. He really is a guardian dog. Saving more than just his flock's life.

Casper is like I ain’t trying to be no damn hero! The owner should’ve had Atleast another sheepdog out there with him!!!

@@pommiebears , My female Rottweiler has way too much spunk to stay home guarding the sheep. She's a couple of inches shorter and twenty pounds lighter than my male but she's an absolute beast of a dog. My big boy is a lot more mellow and laid back. She doesn't even walk , she runs everywhere...lol. She was supposed to be a show dog but doesn't have the temperament for it.

Great job Casper. Please retire the dog and have additional dog guards. This set a precedent so equip better for it. No reason he should have had to fight alone.

I love my dogs and spent $5,000, without hesitation, on one of my dogs who needed surgery. Vet costs are out of control and if your vet recommends a specialist or vet hospital, get out your credit card! There is something wrong in the USA and other countries when it comes to excessive vet costs and medications. I know becoming a veterinarian is expensive and staff need to be paid, etc., but let’s be reasonable. It has gotten so ridiculous, many animals suffer because the owners can’t afford to take their pets to the vet for annual exams, shots, treatment or surgery. Veterinarians always say they became vets to help animals...but that's hypocritical and counter-productive when an animal is denied care due to their $$$$ costs.

Yeah true and there is pet insurance but it’s not the same you have to pay first and they just reimburse. I have seen some jobs offer pet insurance as a benefit but probably works the same

Yes, expensive but let's put the responsibility where it belongs - owning a pet is not a right. Every dog owner should carry pet insurance unless you are well-off enough without it, it should be considered a necessary pet expense just like food, annual exams and shots. If you can't afford pet healthcare then you can't afford to have an animal. It's tragic when an animal is put down for a medical emergency that could be treated but isn't due to owner finances. That animal could have lived a full life with a different owner.

I find it a bit disturbing that you couldn't grab a rifle/shotgun and pursue your dog as he fought off and was engaged with hostiles,I have goats and two border collies that often engage with coyotes and hold their own but when needed get 100% help from me in a blink of an eye.Your dog deserved better,sorry for him he did what he could do by himself.

Even if all I had was a knife I would have ran out thier behind him. A knife in one hand a long stick in the other. Keep them from surrounding your dog and he will have an easier time killing them. You work together. Plus theres tons of extra protection you can buy for your dogs like neckgaurds with spikes to help protect thier necks. Hell theres vest to help protect dogs from boars tusk. Boar hunting with dogs is a thing where you have to work together with your dog and all you have is a knife to kill the boar. Takes skill.

Amish beard. He does not know how to handle the amount of care and attention given to the dog. Most of the time, that dog would have been a write off and gotten a bullet to the brain. Sad but true.

The owner says it was at night, he was awakened and came out, watched, did nothing, went back to bed without bothering to assist his dog or discourage the coyotes. ‘We knew he was injured…’ yet didn’t bother looking for his grievously injured dog until the next day! Everyone else paid for the vet bills…likely the owner would have just shot him or left him to live or die without getting him any assistance otherwise.

Where I live, there is no closed season or bag limit for coyotes, but there are still many coyotes. The much smaller wolf population does more damage.

That poor dog. That look on his face is from pure exhaustion and despair. He realises that his owner is a complete Numb Nut....😢

Casper was gone for 2 days, doing more visual and scent recon and making sure no other coyotes were around before heading home.

Casper is still young and glad he's getting better. Get this boy a good spike collar and the collars that are used on dogs that hunt boar. I would definitely make sure by doubling down to protect his neck. Plus add another LGB to help protect the live stock..always better to have two.

This Casper isn’t the friendly ghost… he’s a coyote killer.

A small element of vets are raking in cash due to weak laws & lack of accountability, and they should be reeled in and held accountable just like any other medical professional.

He needs to buy a spike collar for the dog to avoid those injuries again, if anything happens like that.

She said that he's too spoiled now to be a guardian dog. Yeah, right. Protecting his pack is in his DNA. One has nothing to do with the other. Give that good boy a steak and a comfy place to spend his days, but don't underestimate his dedication in protecting his own.

He’s earned retirement. At the very least add a couple to his pack to help even the numbers. Or better yet, as the “boss” help by calling them in and thinning them out. Sometimes he needs you also. Leave the coyote heads hanging. It will deter the coyotes.

I thought there were 11 coyotes and Caper killed off 8 of them. I wonder what this *_"person"_* was doing while Caper was fighting off those coyotes for that half-hour?
