The heaviest lifts in competitive history!
Since 2008 Giants Live contests have witnessed many increases to the world record in what many believe to be the ultimate test of strength - the deadlift.
World record holders featured here include
Kevin Nee (USA),
Laurence Shahlaei (GBR),
Brian Shaw (USA),
Benedikt Magnusson (ISL),
Jerry Pritchett (USA)
and of course, Eddie Hall (GBR).
All these lifts are performed in full competition, under strongman rules - allowing straps, suits and bar hitching - enjoy!

His Powerlifting pull at 460kg for purists and powerlifters deservedly has to be considered the greatest deadlift of pure deadlifting with no aids or whatever. So we dont disagree. I don't know why people are so agitated that Thor is not in the Vid when he didn't make a progressive lift in the Giant's Live competition. Eddie is here because he did lifts that broke the previous recorded highest lift in GIant's Live. So If you want anyone that broke through 500kg to be in the vid then that said person would have to do the lift during Giant's Live. For the love of GOd it's in the title.

He held onto it because he was trying to lock out his knees, which he never did. His dad weighing the plates clearly made them all weigh half the amount, sorry I don't have a good counter to that absolutely brilliant argument. Don't quite get the "Eddie went on to win WSM then retired" argument as being better than Thor retiring immediately? You do realize Thor's won 5 major titles, along with 5 ESMs, to Eddie's 1 and 0 right? In 2018 he won Arnolds, WUS, Worlds, ESM and totaled 1100kg in his first powerlifting meet. Remind me ,why are we comparing these two? They're not even in the same league.

@@Maddolis Yes I agree with the competition debate, but they ain't in the same league now someone's liking thors balls. Eddie first of all does have better static strength, yes he was beaten in the deadlift by 1 kilo but he also has the world record with the axle press and the Viking press he has also beaten hafthor with the squat for reps. Yes they both are statically gifted but to say that Eddie is out of Hafthors league now that's just plain stupid. Eddie beat him at 2017 WSM and looked like he could pull 500 again for the deadlift max event if he needed to and won on the Viking press quite easily, oh and don't say that Hafthor was close because of the 14 reps, six of them where double dipping the ref Collin and magnus stated that. I will agree that people who are saying that Hafthors dad cannot weigh the weights properly are stupid as well.

@@ronanmckenzie576 Yeah Eddie's a static beast for sure, my argument though is that they compete in Strongman which is really a mix of static and dynamic. Thor pulling 1100kg at his first powerlifting meet (damn near 1120 but his squat was red lighted) was super impressive, and I'd like to have seen Eddie do a powerlifting meet. They're comparable in static strength for sure, but when I say different leagues I mean as strongman athletes. The titles speak for themselves, even the number of times Thor reached the podium is ridiculous.

But Brian and big Z are the same, Brian has a lot less title than big z in other comps but with WSM they are the same. The biggest difference with Brian and Big is the Arnold wins. Brian with three and Big Z with 8. the only other big strongmen event that Hafthor beats Eddie in is the arnolds. Other than that they both have won major strongmen titles. And hafthor has done alot more strong man comps then Eddie so its not a fair comparison. But that is my opinion.

I believe it does have the heaviest official deadlift ever done in competition. As it is recognised still by Guinness World Records. Though, Like us, they too recognise Hafthor pulled the heaviest ever deadlift. But the title of this video is giants live deadlifts. And we only deal in contests. Training hall records are exactly that. But again - I must stress that isn't to say what Hafthor did isn't real or incredibly impressive. it just isn't apart of this video for multiple reasons but mainly the title is reflective of the rights that we own over TV footage. if we owned it and could use it then we would do a heaviest deadlifts video and it would be there at number one without doubt. But we dont and thus we choose to do competition lifts.

No - it isn’t correct. it’s the Channel of Giants Live to be exact please read the about section, . Eddie Hall is apart of Official Strongman dot com the online competition and video site, He is also apart of a KZread channel called official strongman Com. Though, yes, like all strongman - it’s a small number of men at the top - a family of athletes and organisers who rely on each other to build the sport - so of course we have worked extremely closely to Eddie Hall. Likewise Hafthor too. But don’t read into a deadlift progression at Giants Live video on this channel as something sinister when Thors 501kg isn’t included. It’s very simple: we don’t own the rights to show the footage. Hence the title - Giants Live deadlift progression of world records.

Eddie "Figure 8" Hall. He would not have gotten the 500 pull if he wrapped his thumb around the bar all the way instead of letting the bar hang down 2-3 inches lower with his straps holding it. Thor did the same thing at 501. These records should be considered 11-12 inch deadlifts because that is the true height of the bar once they start pulling. Take a puller like Benedikt. He always wraps his thumbs and fingers completely around the bar, straps or not, and does a true 9 inch deadlift.
