Wow! you have been busy since I last saw it in the flesh. Your attention to detail is truly amazing Andrew. With my modest budget I have to be happy with my Jaguar x300 4ltre as it is. Pleased though, that my engine forms the foundation of what will be a truly magnificent AM when completed. Hope I get to see it in my lifetime ha. Best Wishes Graham

A stupefying and incredible amount of work. You would have to be the most dedicated DBS owner in the world. Seems like a sensible engine swap, and the rest of the modifications subjective. One question though, if you will not have a spare, why do you need an electric jack? ;) Terrific job. I am all for the pursuit of the kind of quality that you are aiming for. Fishoilene in the boxed sections of the bodywork. Best of luck for this monumental project that obviously and admirably does not have venality as its raison d'etre. Thanks for the video.

Don't have a DBS, but watched this with great interest, mods are really well thought out and executed. Why did you opt to fit a catalytic converter given the age of the car, was that a stipulation of fitting a modern engine? My V8 Stag is ULEZ compliant, my daily driver isn't.

There is an inherent problem with these cars (from new) drawing in smelly exhaust fumes when the side windows are down due to unfortunate aerodynamics, so a cat is just one of the many mods I am making to hopefully solve this problem. Thanks for watching & stay tuned!

@@AndrewDay_Aston-Martin-DBS5126 , don't cats make a smell like rotten eggs though, on the older XJ6's the airflow outlets where in the boot floor, the sucked in fumes which is why Jaguar made those swoopy tailpipes in order to make the outlets further from the vents, the very early cars had the outlets in the "c" pillars but they were moved later. Maybe if you could re-locate the outlets, you could chuck the cat away and make your car sound so much better.

All modern cars have cats and I don't smell any rotten eggs. I will tailor the amount of silencer post-cat to tune the sound of the engine as I want it, at the moment I plan two straight-through silencers in parallel. The exhaust tail pipes will be moved outward. If active cabin air extraction is needed it will be added. @@stevefuller1779

Which transmission are you going to use, manual or auto, as the original Jaguar unit if auto will be electronic control?

The transmission and clutch is a 5 speed manual from an XJS. I hope the clutch will be up to the new specs as the previous owner has suggested a racing clutch might be a good upgrade.

That sounds just perfect. Yes I agree with your comments on the dash and the use of vinyl for a car quite expensive compared to others in the 1960s and 70s.@@AndrewVanDay

Shame about the V8, it is part of the magic of these cars, very nice looking car though.

According to the federal HESCHLAVVO law, it is already forbidden in Switzerland to drive combustion engines on mountain passes from 2025. In France, the SCHLABOUBVE regulates that fossil vehicles that produce fine dust are prohibited in all cities from 2025. The BABVVO in Germany will exhaust gas pollution from 2027 and that is what will happen in entire EU also bann of all tires and brakes because of fine dust!!!

I'm not sure why you're telling me this?? Even if I convert it to electric it won't be much good without tyres, nor would all EVs if tyres and brakes are banned! Bit of a daft statement if you ask me. I'll believe changes in the laws of the EU and the UK when they actually happen. Governments are full of what the supposedly will do, and that's not the only thing they're full of!
