A little tip on the rose hips! Make a warming rose hip pureéd soup , It is a common "dessert" in Sweden called Nyponsoppa, which directly translates to rose hip soup. Basically just boil rose hips in water until softened and then mix them into a pureé, ad water until desired consistency and sweeten to taste. Can be served hot or cold :)

The garden looks so beautiful!! Eric that quiche turned out epic! Turnip greens are one of my favorite greens to cook. Your chickens are eating good. Arielle I've never heard of squash relish or Rose Hip ketchup. Both look amazing. I love garlic but never had it fresh from the garden. Love thedrone view of your property; totally breath taking!!

I think you really need to build some kind of wind break/snow blocker. for your bees to make it over winter. My father-in-law raised bees his whole life and said it was important. He was able to have his hives where trees kept them protected but always made sure to get as much snow away so they got enough air.

When you guys were hanging the garlic I thought, hey they must be getting ready for vampire season. No sooner than I thought it, you said it. Amazing. You guys need to broadcast wildflower seed next spring. Sounds like there's not enough flowers for the bees to make honey to share. You might want to build a small high tunnel for the bees for winter protection. I liked your canning recipes as well. You folks take care. Vaughn

Hi - I live in the northeast zone 5a. Hard neck garlic is what grows in the northeast. Each bulb has about 5 cloves. Very pungent and the bonus with hard neck is the garlic scapes you get first. The scape is the flower. You cut it off before it flowers so the plant energy goes to the bulb. If you are down south you would grow soft neck. Eric and Arielle how hard neck.

Love how many vegetables you are able to put in your quiche. As a chef I haven't found many tips I can provide because you all know what you are doing! One small tip is to break your eggs on a flat surface as opposed to the rim of the bowl. This will help prevent shells from entering the batter. Awesome video as always!

Little tip when grating items to make it easier. Instead of keeping grater straight up with the handle being on top, try laying it on the side where you hold the handle towards you body and the hole is away from you. This way the top of the grater is the place being used, all of the food has a place to go out which means less stopping and the forward motion is much less straining. Have a great day and awesome ariel shots in the intro. :)

A Tip on hanging Herbs to high level, effortlessly. - Loop as many strings as you need Herbs - Lower one String end to your hip level standing on the ground - The other string end should be long to enough to reach with your arm stretched. - Tie the Herbs to the lower String ends - When done tying them, pull the other string end towards the ground. - When the Herbs reach the desired level, tie the second string ends to the pole, et voila. You don't have to be on the ladder the entire time you're tying each herb. Climb the ladder only once to loop all the strings and that's it.

Garden looks great! You can pickle all types of zucchini or summer squashes same way as cucumbers:make dill pickles, do like antipasti salad (in winter just boil some rice or potatoes or pasta and open a jar full of summer aromas) or you can spread in top of any bread-delicious...cubed zuchhini, onions tomatoes garlic beets cabbage-almost any veggie you have , boil everything for 20-30 min until veggies are al dente, add sugar salt to taste , 1/2 cup of veg.oil and acv to taste, fill up jars and -water bath for 15 min and can store at home temperature for years. after you can either warm it up in stews or eat cold...

You made me hungry watching you making squash relish. Good video. I have always heard it takes 2 years to get honey. I watch another homesteading channel that sets a different style of hive. I don’t know now if excluding the Queen from the super is a good idea. I believe the important part is that you have healthy brood and capped honey. Your winters are cold and long and it will be hard to get through the winter. Best of luck to the two of you.
