I guess whoever commented on a “messy kitchen”, doesn’t understand that a kitchen is not for Pinterest views, but for actual food preparation. 😂😂. You’re doing such a great job taking care of your family. Praise God for all the Proverbs 31 qualities that he has given you. Also, it’s not messy. It’s being used 24/365 and cleaned/ tidied, multiple times a day. ❤

Her kitchen is beautiful and its probably jealous ones who is saying that.....I'm a messy cook too, but my kitchen isn't like that when I don't cook,,,,, so stop complaining about her, those that complain probably doesn't do all the canning she does.....I don't know how she does what she does.....I know her Mom must be a lot of help, plus they make the kids do jobs too ...which is great , they should.....keep up the good work Jamerrill.... , you do GREAT.....and I love your kitchen.....

Honey I’m 75 years old, so I’m absolutely sure there is a newfangled way of dealing with the hickory nuts. The way my granny and grandpa dealt with them was put them in the drive way to get the green hull off. They found that the easiest way. That sucker is stuck on there. Hopefully that helps. Good luck with all your harvesting.

Sister, I have been canning for months on end, and I still got strawberry pulp on my floor from the very first thing we canned off with in the season. I barely clean the kitchen when canning, no point when it happens again the next day. What I have noticed lately in the kitchens is this trend with almost nothing on the counters! It made me second guess what I have been doing with my kitchen. My kitchen is my workshop and I have the tools i.e. Instant Pot, Kitchen Aid, Blender, etc. on the counters to use. Thanks for sharing your “working” kitchen with me to restore my hope that it’s not a show room!

Same here Vicky!! My kitchen is VERY “cluttered” (in quotes because I’m assuming that’s why the young folks would call it now-a-days!!) …. As I tell my husband…. Cooking for our family, using olde world skills, Whole Foods based is literally, a full time job (as I’m sure you know already!!) …. I have spices…. Mixers… canners…. More spices…. Appliances EVERYWHERE in my little space!!! As long as the dishes are done, put up and my stove area is cleaned off, apron on…. Hair put up…. Im ready to rock and roll!! Also….. if counters are always “uncluttered” with appliances/items we use…. A lot of time is wasted hunting for or gathering up those items … The idea when you cook like you and I do, work smarter, not harder…. Cooking from absolute scratch is already a lot of work! Make no mistake about it people… the from scratch cook, works incredibly hard for the health of their family ❤️💕🙏🏼❤️💕🙏🏼 Sending Love to you from Oregon 🌲🌲❤️💕🙏🏼

But is is sanitary, and I am being productive and putting food up for my family. YOU GO GIRL! There is NO way (IMHO) to do all the peeling, dicing slicing, shredding , packing, jar washing and have everything look “tidy” All those filled jars on the shelves make up for ANY mess🥰 I am happy you are a fellow canner😁

The Amish don't pressure can and the rest of the world don't pressure can. Being told your gonna kill people all the time when we made it the same amount of time through history as your family without the pressure canner is testament to water bath canning. I'm sure your family water bath canned before the modern invention of the pressure canner and your ancestors made it. We don't all live in the USA.

I love the saying , My home is clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy! Another great one is, Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow, for children grow up, much to our sorrow. So settle down cobwebs, dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby and baby won't keep!

Just wanted to share a tip: I switched my presto stove top canner to the jiggler type gauge (the one specifically for the presto canner) and what a game changer!!! As long as the jiggle is going at a nice calm jiggle, the dial gauge stays steady at 11lbs. I can then listen instead of having to keep checking the dial gauge. This is most beneficial if you have an electric or smooth top stove because the burner tends to go on and off. Hope this helps! Love your kitchen and no, its NOT dirty…its being used for exactly what it was designed for! I have a one-butt kitchen so I can say, if I had that kind of space, I would have the same multi-tasking action going on! You are such an inspiration! Thank you!

After the chickens get done playing with the corn cobs, if you pick them up, let them dry and run them through a wood chipper, they would be great in the garden, or compost pile.

I'm not sure I remember much else about it after I saw the piggies!!! I grew up on a farm and when I was little it was my job to take care of all the piggies! I love them so much! I love Black Walnuts too.....goes great in Fudge...., cakes, anything else you want to puts nuts in....they have a different taste....but once you like them, you will always love them....they are very hard to crack & remove the nut inside also.....we used to crack them with a hammer....usually our Dad did all that, but now I hear there is a special nut cracker that will remove all the nuts practically at once.....so you may try to find one of those.....

Hickory Nuts. When I was a child, (I am 80 now) my dad would make Christmas Fudge using the Hershey Cocoa recipe. But while he cooked the fudge, he would crack hickory nuts and I and my 5 siblings would sit in a circle on the kitchen floor and pick the nuts from the shells to use in the fudge. We used safety pins to dig the nuts from the shells. I remember that they were very hard to remove from the shells. But that was the best tasting fudge in the world. We only ever had it at Christmas time. I know it has been 60 years since I last had any. Your video brought back these good memories. Thank you.

Who remember Jemerill from extreme couponing? Your kitchen may be messy, but that's what happens when you are taking care if your family, with all the cooking, canning and all the what nots. It's clean by the end if the day. You don't have rotten food and bugs everywhere. You keep doing you. And mind what others say. Your family is well taken care of and fed some delicious food from that "messy" kitchen.
