Day Camping With BioLite: No Need To Carry Fuel

BioLite Energy products are an innovative design that reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources, and focus their products to better suit the general public who enjoy camping with less impact on the environment, lower carbon emissions, and support to many countries around the globe that do not have any energy sources available. Although I do possess portable gas powered cooking stoves along with lanterns, etc. I prefer to use my BioLite Energy products and continue to enjoy their products. Their team certainly is creative, innovative, and motivated to provide a better quality of living throughout the world.

Thanks Jen, I believe the latest stoves are improved, although I have no issues with this original one that I've used now for 5 years. It sure was a great place to cook on the grill, explore a little, etc. I'm planning to camp over night there soon and take all of the BioLite gear. 🙂

I haven't been out that way in years. We were trying to plan a camping trip on the road from Buchans to burgeo last year but it never worked out. One of these days I'll get back out there for a trip. Those biolite stoves are pretty neat. I get good use out of my twig stoves but I haven't actually seen one of those in person. They are kind of bulky but I do like the idea behind them. Thanks for taking us along!

Hey Chad, too bad you didn't make the trip! Actually the BioLite stoves are very compact, I should have shown the units in their bag as a reference. The orange portion stores inside of the burn chamber, and cools down very fast, as well the fan eliminates the smoke, so anyone with pulmonary issues can tag along. Hope all is well, take care.

I have the Biolite 2 and I use the pellets that they make (but I’m running out pretty soon). I bought a larger bag of pellets on Amazon which is pretty cost effective but I find that if I have to add more fuel, i.e. more pellets, I get tons of smoke. From watching your video, adding more single sticks doesn’t generate any excess smoke since it’s spaced out and large pieces of wood vs. Pellets.

Yes, adding the fuel as I did doesn't generate any smoke. The sticks seem to work well, that well I've never bothered to purchase any pellets.

Dave Wilcox Jr Outdoors Right on, I used to have my young kids gather sticks at the conservation parks but with the pandemic other visitors have been on edge when we’re in the forest scavenging for sticks.

Hey Dave, like your cruiser on the lake, 4 stroker? and nice stove! great spot on the island, I think we boiled up there couple times years ago up for the weekend on a fishing trip, me and couple buds. Did you do any fishing in the derby this year?

Hey bud, it is a 4 stroke with all the bells and whistles. Next time you are over stop by, I also may have to make a trip over your way... I didn't do any fishing in the derby. Water temperature was too cold and I knew it would be a tough time hooking any.

Yes, I also have the BioLite Firepit, and it too is great! It depends on the particular usage, the larger the company, and location not as remote, the Firepit is ideal. One thing I like about the BioLite Firepit is the heat and flame during cool evenings and nights.

It will last over 24 hours on the lowest setting, and about 8 hours on the higher settings. Burning dry cured wood I find the lowest fan setting is more than enough for a clean smokeless burn with a lot of heat. The smartphone app works great with the unit as well... no need to get up to adjust the fan setting, just sit back, relax, and adjust with the phone in hand. It also gives an accurate time remaining on the battery time remaining. 👍
