Day 4 - SA Road Trip - Kokstad to Port Shepstone! [incl. Oribi Gorge & Margate]

This leg of the trip was the shortest so far, but it wasn't without its own challenges. After an hour of driving, I was met with a detour on the N2 and was sent the long way around to Port Shepstone, adding well over 90 minutes to my drive time. Just before Port Shepstone, I stopped at Oribi Gorge for a bit of sightseeing, as was pleased to see the entire road through the gorge was paved, so I didn't have to struggle with gravel road again so soon after my Hogsback mishap. Afterwards, I made my way through Port Shepstone to Margate, where I had a beachfront lunch before a lazy drive around. I got myself stuck in a few of the many road blocks dotting the KZN south coast, but I just wound my window down and soaked up the sea air. Finally, I made my way back to Port Shepstone for the night in a beautiful B&B with private access to the beach, a pool, and much-needed air conditioned rooms. The humidity near the coast is wild!
[Since the end of this trip, Margate and parts of the KZN south coast were severely damaged by floods. The beachfront Wimpy I had lunch in here was almost completely washed away and many of the roads badly damaged. My heart goes out to the residents!]
