On the 29th of February 2024, I embarked on a 32-day road trip across South Africa. I wanted to be a tourist in my own country. I'd planned this trip for over a year, and I realized my idea of a cross-country road trip differed from everyone else's. In these videos, you won't see safaris or hiking or off-roading. Just me in my 15-year-old Hyundai Atos, exploring places I find interesting, slowly making my way in a loop around the country. I wanted to include dashcam footage because I felt much of the beauty on the trip was found along the drive-the mountains, passes, valleys. I excluded the Western & Northern Cape; I plan on exploring those in another road trip further down the line. I took my work with me, spending my days driving and sightseeing, and my nights working.
