David Gilmour Tones with Laney Cub 12r (In YOUR Bedroom)

Музыка

First video i uploaded was getting David Gilmour tone with this amp. It was a 30 sec demo. Since people liked that, i though i should make another video about the amp and do more sounds. Because I can't recommend this amp enough, and not just for Gilmour tones.
I love this amp. There is not a single amp i would use in my bedroom instead of this little dude with it's 1w input.
Signal Chain: MXR Dynacomp Mini - Big Muff - Boss BD-2 - Charlie Brown v4 - Delay - RT-20
I used 1w input for all of these recordings.

After discovering your channel 3 or 4 months ago, I finally took the plunge and ordered a supercub head. I don't play the one watt channel. I play the 15 watt but use a Two Notes Captor X to attenuate the volume. At TV volumes, I get the best tones I've ever had. I own a lot of non-tube gear, including Axe-fx, Kemper, Tonex, Boss IR2, UA Lion, etc. This cheap tube amp beats them all for tone. Thank you for your channel. I'm in guitar heaven!

personaly on time i like to add a bit of univibe for the solo, somewhat similar to pulse, though i use a fuzz face, like what he used on the original on shine on i like to have rt20 going as a Yamaha ra200 sound + a phase 90, and i use a boss blues driver, also i set the compression after the overdrive that way i can clean up the over drive meaning i can have it totally clean for the intro, a bit boosted for syds theme and the second solo, then really drive it for that last solo, all with my volume knob on comfortably numb i do big muff into blues driver into electric mistress, into rt20

Hi again ! The tone is really great ! Two more questions : - your video doesn’t show the pedals on Comfortably solo. Can you tell us what was used (besides muff and rt-20) and how ? Which settings ? - how did you record the song we can hear (ext. speaker line ?) cause I don’t understand how you manage to make us hear the tone in your room and the real genius one of the video. Sorry if my questions are not clear. Thanks for your answers. 🤘🎸

Hey, - just like i showed, i only used ram's head and a delay, you see the settings throughout the video. - i mic the amp with shure sm57 into a scarlett 2i2, into a logic. thats the sound of the amp. my sony a6300 captures the room sound while i shoot the video. that's how i match the video and recordings.

Here are my two cents: I have tried A LOT speakers in this amp, modern and originals. For clean jazz tone the Legend L1218 is the best I have tried so far in it. Huge hifi sound, a lot of bass, yet pretty open highs. American style attack. A 16 ohmed G12T75 modern takes out the low mids so makes it sound very sparkly and fendery- good if you want to. The downside of this speaker is its cold, sizzly in a chainsaw like way highs- still good for eighties hardcore/ thrash though. The original T75 is a fair amount smoother in the high mids- same with the original vs modern V30. A vintage V30 that had a dense steely tone- good for slide guitar. The modern is more aggressive in all ways- tighter bass, more aggressive attack etc. Greenbacks sound very woody, but are not my top choice. Mid to low mid focused drivers but with a very musical sizzle. G1265- similar to the stock HH 1265 in many ways, very nice. Crisp mid focused sound, but with attenuated, dark highs- treble rolled off, works in many cases, makes them need to be played loud. The best was an EVM12L, original, in a thiele cab. Wide present timbre from bass to mids to treble, all is there, really, no fooling. And the best overall besides the EVvwas an Eminence 16 ohm Lady Luck- unbelievable speaker. In the same ballpark with the EV. Flat in a great way, all is there, pure musicality, dense harmonics, precise bass, abundant thumpy low mids, excellent high mid attack, clear, open, extended highs. Huge detail in every register. So good it make me email Eminence to ask for similar contemporary speakers of them (lady luck is an OEM Emi speaker) and they informed me that their currently produced equivalents are the CV 75/ 65, Reignmaker, Governor and Legend L1275- and they are correct, you may go with any of these!!! From Celestions for this amp I recommend: Alnico blue, gold, cream, ruby. G12H anniversary- not the Heritage. Any Creamback, especially the H75. V type first, A type second. G1265/ T75. 70-80/ G12P80. From Eminence those I mentioned plus the GA SC64 plus many others. From Jensen C12N, K2, P12. This amp packs a lot of punchiness, boominess and low mids due to circuit design and small enclosure so you may need to compensate for that with the speaker choices. It is a GREAT amp, totally recommended.

i was not expecting a comment like this but much appreciated, i actually think g12h is the best, my first choice would be g12h or v30, still, for an amp that can do huge sound with just 1w input and a speaker, i love this amp the way it is. thank you for your detailed comment!

@@gerardoromano3436 thank you! The Anniversary has more presence and bite, high end twang, the Heritage is a lot mellower and mid focused.
