Guys; I don’t care about opinions and don’t expect to respect mine. But this guy is the best romantic composer ever. He’s a musician, lyricist and poems writer. One more of the many jewels from the seventies. Grew up listening to this guy now I’m 66 and still finding something new every time I listen to his songs. Thank you so much Sir Gates for all the great times and memories; you made me experience with your lullabies. Truly something “ OUT OF THE ORDINARY “.

This BBC concert is something I would've never imagined to exist -- David Gates was a very small name at the time in the music business, even though Bread was climbing up the charts, and he was a well-known pop arranger throughout the musician scene in Los Angeles. In a way, with his history with Margaret Mandolph, Gates really wanted to be a mirror of Phil Spector; starting his 'Planetary' label with relatively no outside support, and arranging the songs to do with the label. He will be remembered so differently in the future, than as a dim star in an ocean of bright ones today. He'll be known as well as Spector or B. Wilson is, in terms of his songwriting and producing efforts. David Gates was Bread, and one of the ultimate inventors of the 60s California sound. Which lead to soft rock and his eventual solo career. One hell of a talent.

Wow, what a musical journey this is. Thinking back to those days, I don't think there was a group or single singer/songwriter who explored the many facets of love and relationships like Bread did. I know it seemed all the young girls in high school loved these guys while none of us would never own up to the fact that they crafted some superior songs and albums, too concerned we were over Led Zeppelin or Grand Funk Railroad. Almost 50 years passed from this performance and I mourn the popular music that has passed from my youth.....

a musical journey it is, for sure. Nothing today can match the sheer elagance , musicality and class of these performances. Real class, no flashing lights, no big show , no effects . David Gates songs had so much drama and complexity, while being truly memorable. A bit concerned for the generations comming up, as i don,t think todays music will stand the test of time. we were blessed and lucky back then.

Yes, he wrote Baby I'm-A Want You on piano, and has talked about how they ended up raising the key and switching to guitars when they worked it up in the studio - this is probably the only source for his original "piano version", although it's more like a "demo".

One of the most Beautiful songs Ever conceived of, was created by David Gates .. entitled, "Find Me" .. from the very first opening lines to the very end it is just one of the most touching and deeply profound creations ever offered by an artist of any time on Earth .. not to mention all the times I've ever "looped" it through my audio devices .. it brings tears to my eyes each and every time I hear it 🙏💛 Find Me 💛 Youll Love It 💛
