The kids today have No morals, No Respect for themselves, let alone others? What was & used to be Good & Right. It is Bad & Wrong these days. I'd Hate for people like my Dad and/or Grandparents to see what people are like now. I can bet you that They would Not be happy & would Not put up with it for a second? Dear God. Please Forgive them. I’m hoping my grandchildren will want to investigate my music collection one day, vinyl and CD’s are physical things that can be held touched, smelt and you can read the sleeve notes and look at the photos, not quite the same with downloaded or streamed tunes. You're totally missing the part where Jimmy Griffin also sang some tunes but none of them are put out as a single. In the classic band lineup was David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Robby Royer and Mike Botts. David sang vocals and played guitar. Jimmy played guitar, keyboards and percussion and also was a vocalist, Robby was mainly the bass guitarist but he also was percussion, flute or recorder and background vocals and finally Mike Botts was the drummer. Ron Edgar and Jim Gordon were used for piano playing on the first albums. Royer left in 1972 and Larry Knechtel took his role over. Larry also played the harmonica on several songs. The band began in 1967 and took a hiatus in 1973 But returned in 1976 only to officially disband in 1978. David Gates went solo but they decided to reunite in 1995 for one tour. When the touring ended they disbanded for good in 1997.

    @lawrencestaton1010

    4 жыл бұрын

    Nope sorry it is lip synced. Otherwise who is singing harmony on Everything I own? The bass and other guitar player wasn't. The drummer doesn't have a vocal mic. He does have a boom to pick up cymbals. However it was common in those days due mostly to time and money for all bands to lip sync. The very best you could hope for would for them to sing to a prerecorded track(to give a live feel and appearance). Plus his voice doesn't change volume when backing to and from the mic. That doesn't make them any less great. It was really a money/time thing.

Just sort of odd. No looking for a fight but since I worked for Dick Clark production back in the 70s. I'm aware of what and how certain things were done then. Shit like this always bothered me. The nicest guy! I was in touch with him on and off up till his passing. I picked up his CD, "For Adults Only". First rate all around! very rare to find a real "live" recording. Most are actually lip sync or redubbed, totally ruining the real flavour of a live one. Can tell because (1) David sings most of these at a slightly different pitch/tone than a studio version, and (2) all the wires and cords are actually hooked to the instruments and mics -- very rare

    The first time I heard this song Diary is an American friend introduced me to listen to it, then I liked it, should be around 2000, my American friend passed away in 2021, yesterday suddenly remembered this song, has been listening to a single song cycle, non-stop tears, because every time I listen to this song will think of him!😭😭😭

    19:00 "The love she's waited for was someone else not me"... Has a more gripping lyric ever been written about love? Wow. So powerful! He paints the picture like none other.

    How about, "And when my love for life is running dry, you pour yourself on me."? Incredible lyrics for that whole song.

    I was at this concert at the BBC theatre. My husband was in the RAF on the Queens Flight and we were taken there on block! I'll never forget it because up until then I was a huge fan. So pleased to have found this.

    Had the pleasure of meeting them all back in 1982 when they came to South Africa. Totally amazing they are, and so humble. Steve Owen. 🎸👈.

    Another interesting fact about this tour and video..... Carol Parks (Dean Parks late wife) sang back up vocals here. Rest In Peace Carol Parks. You were also a gem 💎 in the music industry, along with Dean. 🙂

    Scoring Larry Knechtel was a stroke of genius for Bread. The man is a legend in the truest sense of the word. David Gates was a superb songwriter with a most pleasant, soothing voice when appropriate. I still well up listening to 'Diary', among others. Happy birthday David!
