@@nanda_tavarez9397 Why do people think that ? What a stupid comment ! Maybe because Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" was a world wide gigantic success and when it came out in 1992, it catapulted to number 1 and stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 14 subsequent weeks, receiving numerous awards from different award-giving bodies, including the Grammys, obviously. It also holds the record for the best-selling single by a woman in music history. Maybe that's the reason 🤔🙄

Dolly is a smart businesswoman, an incredible artist and a genuine good person. She is the first person to say that Whitney was amazing singing that song. It had already hit number one twice when she sang it but she always heaped praise on Whitney for how she sang the little song she wrote. That shows what a generous and wonderful human being Dolly is.

"Dolly Parton says she invested her royalties from Whitney Houston’s cover of her song “I Will Always Love You” into a Black Nashville neighborhood. According to Forbes, Parton earned $10 million on the tune that spent more than three months on top of the Billboard Hot 100. Parton said she bought a “big office complex” in the “black area of town” in honor of Houston. According to the Washington Post, the 75-year-old country star put money into the neighborhood in 1997 during a time when others shied away. The investment reportedly helped revamp the area."

The song “I Will Always Love You” has been a #1 in 3 different decades, 70’s and 80’s with Dolly Parton and 90’s with Whitney Houston. It great how Dolly said Whitney can now say it’s her song as long as she still gets all the $$$$ cash from writing ✍🏼 the song. She loved Whitney and at her funeral I thought she was going to pass out up on the stage when “I Will Always Love You” started playing and they lifted Whitney’s casket, it really got to her. The next time that song is played at a funeral will be mine says Dolly Parton, I hope it’s not to soon.

Only Whitney's version of this song can move our souls to feel pure love. Right after my mother passed in 2001, heartbroken, I drove by her house to park under her kitchen window. At that window, she would always throw kisses and wave before I, or her other visiting children, drove away. The car radio happened to be on and the VERY SECOND I put the car in park, Whitney's song began to play. I felt mom at the window and bawled like a babe. Listen carefully to the words - they apply to a mother's love for her children (so fitting after death). The words, as Whitney sings them, can also resonate for Christians, and Jesus love for mankind.

Michael Jackson " I just cant stop loving you" was meant to be her and MJ.

Funny how many different versions of this story we have heard about this record. The part when he says he" immediately heard the finished record", has a back story. Kevin brought Houston Dolly's recording, and Whitney didn't like the song and didn't want to do the song either. David mentions he was unfamiliar with the song. So he went to a record store to get the song, they didn't have Dolly's version, but had the album 1975 Prisoner in Disguise by Linda Ronstadt and the song was on that album. It was Linda Ronstadt's version not Dolly's that he had heard and knew what they could do with the song. When Dolly heard that they were using Linda's recording as a template; she called David let him know, Linda did not use the final verse in her recording. She gave him the final verse.

But the films producer found out it was being used in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, so he asked for another song. So Costner thought of this song. Whitney hate the song - she said she didn't want to sing this country song - and yes didn't know what to do with it. David Foster heard Linda recording - said he knew what they could do - and with Linda recording in hand he convinced Whitney to sing the song.

Hey you left out Linda Ronstadt’s version. Her’s came after Dolly but added a bigger arrangement that is a lot more like Whitney’s arrangement. And as others have said it was hardly a lessor known song. Loved Linda’s version and then after Whitney’s came out we loved it too. The lyrics are killer as well. Thanks Dolly!

Her muddy strength will never be laid to rest, that strength will live on for eternity in every single song that she wrote and sang! Her story absolutely breaks everything in me, one of the brightest lights in the universe snuffed out far too soon, another victim of the Hollywood machine, and a horribly abusive and evil husband who killed not only her, but their daughter. Whitney will live in my heart and my mind until the day I die, but Bobby Brown? That SOB is still alive, made wealthy from his wife and daughter, who are now dead because of him, proof that life truly is never fair. I pray that bastard burns in hell when he dies, and until then I pray him every amount of pain a human being could ever suffer and more! But Whitney, as your song says, I truly will always love you, and it breaks everything in me to have lost you, I pray to God, literally, that when my time comes I’ll see you on the other side in heaven, my eternal love from Toronto ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@Hells Fury never getting pass the sorrow of such a great loss that we the public got to know and love have to remember we do not know the whole story, we do know by now that it was her brother that started her on that destructive path of drugs - then she and Bobby get together and honestly behind close door, we do not know, who was the fire and who was the fuel. One thing we know for each one of them that family, friends and the business turned a blind eye as long as their success or failure made them money! Let me say, some family & friends. It is hard to see that she was just another human being with the most gifted talent and though I believe from different videos also very very insecure - I hope you find it in your heart to focus on the love she gave us and we gave back and let that be what brings you peace. ~ hugs ~

Personally, I'd never heard the song "I Will Always Love You" until the movie The Bodyguard and Whitney Houston made it a hit. Later I learned Dolly Parton had written the song. I don't know much about the music industry but I've heard the person who owns the lyrics makes the big bucks. I have never been a fan of country music. The sound simply isn't appealing to me unless the artist makes a crossover. For instance, the late Kenny Roger's crossed over with "Lady"; Crystal Gale crossed over with " Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue"; and Sinai Twain crossed over with "Forever and Always." All of which were beautiful songs.

I just want to say to any young or old people out there in the World, who may be struggling with an identity crisis, regarding your sexuality, to BE EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE. Whitney's talent, when she was at the top of her game, was breathtaking. I know for me, I had NEVER heard a voice like hers before. But when I think of her and a Luther Vandross, I think of two human beings who may have been taken from us so early because the stress of being closeted to the general public, may have been too much for them...and that sort of stress, can be harmful and in their cases, fatal. Luther struggled with his weight...all of that back and forth with weight gain and weight loss, can harm the heart and the brain. And Whitney's self destruction with drugs and booze, probably numbed her anxiety about being a lesbian who just could not be exactly who and what she was, because it may very well have harmed her career, in my opinion.

Your lesbian comment is insane. Whitney was not a lesbian. Claims disputed by her daughter and Clive Davis who said she dated plenty of men. I think the gay community is pushing this narrative, if she was gay it makes that disgusting lifestyle ok. Y'all need to stop the lies!!

Dolly Parton is sole songwriter of that song and took it to #1 twice in two different decades but David Foster arranged Dolly's song with her permission of course and Whitney took it to #1 for a 3rd time.. This made Dolly a boatload of money having David arrange the cover of her song and Whitney singing it as Dolly kept full song writing credit.

In other words as sole songwriter Dolly kept the royalties and made a lot of money off of Whitney and David's cover of her song.
