comparing to what the Beatles put out in 1964 this was extremely heavy and hard for that time wow David Bowie's roots go back far
This song really rocks! I hear a very early rockin’ Ziggy😊Love the song and I love David❤

For some bizarre reason, Bowie hated this version. He later covered it on a more recent live album, but it was just OK. This original version ROCKS. DB R.I.P.
This is my favorite song now.
THANK YOU! I have this single somewhere (a reissue) and forgot how smashing it is. Just what I needed after a week of weeping. Oh, David!

This made me the best pause button expert ever! only way to see the photo's properly!
I just found out this was Bowie's first single. I never knew it existed until 2 days ago. My daughter's name is Lila Jane. Soooo close.
Thanks for this, but as others have noted: the fotos are virtually impossible to see.
Такой юный, но уже готов показать миру свой талант ❤

Agree first time I have ever heard this, listening to Bowie now you see and read about this song on Wiki saying it never made any no commercial success! triggers me that to point of why? its a Merseybeat style shame, admire Bowie for being different, cos most music industry is manufactured anyway, always has been..

If it had, do you think David would have gone off on his own and became who he was? I don't. He probably wouldn't have taken the same path and would have been held back.

Be grateful they didn’t take off. Had they have taken off, we may not have the Bowie we know and love. We may just have all songs like this and none like Let’s Dance, China Girl, Lazarus, Space Oddity, Life On Mars, and all the other odd and alternative songs we have now. Had they have taken off, Alternative music wouldn’t be like it is now

0:20 That’s the list of Decca Group singles released on 5 June 1964. I think that was sourced from Record Mirror magazine. I know this because I’ve added the full release dates for thousands of singles, no matter how poorly they sold.
Actually released on July 5th.
My dog is called Bowie Paco Prince i named my puppydog Little Liza Jane after hearing this song. She"s pretty content with it.
the images go by way to fast. what a gyp
#throwbackthursday
whats with the flashing the light on and off routine,, ruins it mate
David Bowie invented the Mullet.
This gives me "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks vibes
Sounds like a cross between The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds
😥
I’m having a siezure
Still don't understand WHY - or HOW - he went from rockin' like this in '64, to his somewhat clumsy attempt at doing Tommy Steele-style music with his first album in '67. Damn record labels!
@maruka1716
6 жыл бұрын
He didn't write this one. He started by learning from classic blues songs, like a lot of rockers. That helped develop his performance skills, but he still had to come up with his own song-writing style. His early writing efforts are mostly experimenting with themes and techniques. But that experimentation paid off, and I'm glad he did it.

Degree7 Old hat for some in the USA maybe. But USA style beat music couldn't be heard in the UK untill Telstar linked up for the first live radio TV transmissions. So it was emerging as new wave beat in the early sixties come from music imports from west coasts ports. Other wise people were listening to the mid 1950s Rock 'n' Roll from the USA artists such as Bill Hailey who came over becoming sucessful over here.

DB's debut album is a masterpiece. There is nothing clumsy about it. Anthony Newley influence rather than Tommy Steele.
Dafuq with your flashing sills, dude?
Strobing - awful, however the music and images are fantastic, a new one to me.
Sounds kind of like the Dave Clark Five.

This does not really sound like Bowie. Perhaps his voice had a different tone or he's doing the backing.
He sounds a bit like John Lennon.
Great pictures, terrible slideshow
Annoying slideshow!!!! Had to stop watching it.
Don't sound like David bowie at all must be before he established his own style of singing.
Terrible edit.

I really wanted to watch this, but the speed of the slide show makes it impossible. What a stupid unnecessary thing to do. THUMBS DOWN!
Strobe effect is very annoying. couldn't finish watching the video
Terrible visual editing, there are easier ways to achieve a strobe effect.
