You do know it's TV and it's all staged. He would have been coached prior to being filmed. His career was already happening. Modelling. Recording. Acting. First top 10 hit soon after this. With a few none charting 45s before that. Everyone at the BBC would have knew who he was. The presenter was one of the new presenters at the bbc and would have known him.

Love Bowie’s boyish laughter. He’s so cute and properly improper. I see he’s already had the fight that dilated his eye.

Yes, he was 15 at the time of his "fight" with George in the spring of 1962. Apparently the condition is called anisocoria - who knew? 😁

To be fair, if you watch his older interviews from when he was young, he had that higher pitch quality to his voice. Also, when you are 17, your voice is pretty likely to sound kind of different to when you are like 47 or so.

He literally turned his vulnerability into his strength. Later on he was still mostly defending himself during interviews only then he could simply say : I've got sold out concerts and staggering record sales that disagree with you and your backward point of view.

More like 1965 at least. Longest hair around in 1964 was The Beatles and it was way shorter at that point. This is Beatles 1965 "Rubber Soul" period hair length.

Why doesn't someone point out to the square with the mic that all famous composers like Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt, etc. had long hair, as did most people for thousands of years. I love the religious crazies who also objected to young people's long hair - christ (if he was even real) purportedly had long hair. So stuff that in your Barbicide jar. Conformity is the most dangerous form of persecution.

He finally got himself on the telly with this "Society". Smart move , but then he chased fame with a desperation and willingness to try anything equalled only by Bobby Gillespie decades later. The difference being that Bowie , once he got himself noticed , revealed that he had massive depths of creativity and talent , whereas Bobby had , well , just a continuing gift to self- publicise with zilch to back it up.
