    Golden Years is one of my favorite David Bowie, songs. And this 1983 Serious Moonlight concert performance is awesome. Bowie's live vocals on this are amazing. It's a shame he hardly ever performs Golden Years.

    My show was July 29, 1983, Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland (still have my concert ticket!). I scoured my hometown (Findlay, O.) to find a pair of red shoes, so I could "put on my red shoes and dance the blues" ... found them, they were a bit tight and hurt like hell, but I wore them. LOL. I remember people walking to their cars after the show, and many were echoing Bowie's "whop whop whop" from G.Y.

    One of Mr. Bowie's most simple, yet underrated, hits. I truly think this was one of his best works ever. Believeth Thou It!

  • @kja427
    @kja42712 жыл бұрын

    Mr. Bowie gave the world a sneak peak in 1976 what would hit the world in 1983 with this 'simple' song. I believe had he wrote more tunes like this back in The 70's, he'd have more hits on The Charts here in The USA. Oh well, can't have everything, right?

    I was at the 2nd of two-nights-in-a row for the taping of this show. September 11&12 1983 Pacific Coliseum. I have played this show on both VHS and cassette tape a gazillion times and never ever tired of it. Its brilliant!! I still get the chils when I see this. This live version with him walking away at the end just makes me choke up at times..

    Just looked on your page at the "Look back in anger from La bastille". Jesus that is so close to the old Bowie it almost brings a tear to my eye. The look is right, the clothes,the hair the mannerisms, the sound, everything. He just about had it back there. Brilliant.

I was 23 when I saw this and no other performer compared to his live performance at these times. I brought a friend who liked Bowie but wasn't a real fan but she went apeshit over sorrow..lol

    I luv bowies hair here, the mans a legend!! I think this is the thing that stands out about these type of artists. Mercury, Bowie even Micheal Jackson. Was that they could "Really" sing but also, they just completely let go, and were totally fused with their music, they had their own style, were completely "original," never copied anyone else, got inspired by other artists. But they were totally real.

    Listening to the single version, I wondered if he performed the chorus as well as he did when recording it (as a lot of artists obviously put out the best version of their recording session)... Turns out he does it even better live! Mind blown. TIL: Never underestimate Bowie.
