First time i saw him in comp I thought he was a legend. Doing what he loves and not treating it like a job. It shows in his riding and on his face. Too many people judging themselves like they have to do it, instead of wanting to!

Crazy impressive from Keiran Reilly. Nailed three tricks in a row and just got harder and harder each time. Awesome to see him riding with and beating such big names!

Man I miss that guy!, I didn’t know him personally but watching him all the years of x games and reading all the magazine articles, one of the reasons I still ride a haro! Dave was a great competitor!

I met Dave a couple times and after a dew tour run I congratulate him landing a backflip 360 No hander and he said “It you can imagine it, you can do it- It’s all about how much you’re willing to work for it.” Mirra was one of bmx’s first true athletes.

I met Dave at The Bike Show in England, possibly 2003/2004. He was such a humble, genuine, decent human being. I was only 18/19 and desperate to meet my idol. He crashed this huge tailwhip transfer and I remember him fixing his front wheel right by us. The Eastpak crew saw us kids trying to talk to him and they tried to move him on but he dropped everything to come over to us all, sign shirts, pose for pictures and talk BMX. He didn't have to but you could tell that he loved his fans and was stoked to be talking about BMX and hearing what the kids were saying to him. RIP Mirra

A stanley flip is a backflip with a slow inward. That requires two hands on the bars throughout

A special flip you let go of the bike, do a backflip then grab back on the seat in a super seat type fashion. On the Backflip 1 Hand Inward or Backflip Dono he never let's his hand off the bars like a Stanley Flip with 1 hand.

For every idiot who I saw in thr comments say Mirra doesnt deserve to be celebrated because of the circumstances of his death. Mirra suffered from severe CTE. Look it up if you want a clear description on WHY people with this condition get to the point of suicide. It literally happens in over 80% of people who develop it. And you know HOW he developed it?? By DOING THIS SPORT 🤦🏾‍♂️ so of course they're going to celebrate him. He literally gave his life for this sport........

But hes not a street or park rider (in bmx, bc in scooter he does some park) for now and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that bc hes amazing in big air and ramps disciplines (and now dirt too). RWilly should've put down a safe trick to start that would guarantee him at least a bronze and then used the rest of the times on the special flip.

Peraza is, and always will be a personal favorite rider, with daniel sandoval as a close second, and as a fellow scooter rider, ryan williams for 3rd. Comp was packed with talent this year!

No. It is what it is and Mirra owned park. R Willy said dirt best trick should be, and so it probably will be

X Games really struggles with their course design. The park course was too big for the skaters and too small for BMX. It limits both and doesn't let athletes showcase their full potential. They don't even take into consideration basic things like designing a park so it flows for people regardless of what foot forward they are. Considering the amount spent on the courses, how bad of a job they typically do, and the fact the courses are just torn down after they'd be much better off just using preexisting parks. They should let riders and skaters vote on where they want events, then people have time to train and prepare, so when the event finally rolls around people are able to showcase the best of their abilities at a well built park.

Yeah I remember being a kid in the 90s and going to Hoffman BS contests at actual skateparks before ESPN entered the game with their fake parks. Looking at it now, I'm less mad about the fake parks than I am about the fact that they tear them down afterwards as you say. They should buy 100 acres in the middle of nowhere and save every year's course and turn it into a public park.

​@@Weather_Nerd Preexisting parks afford people the familiarity of riding a known park. It's no cost to the X games. Isn't wasteful in the fact that it won't be torn down after the contest. And my previous comment was based on criticisms from Scotty, and complaints about the way the ramp rode from riders themselves. And then there's the fact that skate and BMX are vastly different sports and therefor shine the brightest on vastly different ramp setups. Steep quarters help skaters lock lip tricks and get into coping grinds, they don't air as much or as high. Larger mellow ramps help bike riders maintain speed and boost higher. It makes a big difference.

It’s a dipped 5 not a flair Scotty. He never went upside down. I wish BMX would get these tricks right. Stoked for how win don’t get me wrong.

kinda sad that peraza wasted time to prevent the riders having another go, 30 seconds of 2.30 at the end spent playing in the loop when realistically there was time for another go each
