You'll notice the difference a lot. Going from 3.54 to 3.7 is a little change but two steps down to the 3.9 is a lot of gearing change. I think I might go with 3.7 in my Z

I was thinking of going this route with the new ls1 swap. But even with my r200 and the weak stubs , decided on the Ford 8.8 diff with billet stubs. Hows the z31cv holding up?

I am running stock r180 in my 240Z. Rb25det Neo, Haltect ecu and all the good stuff except for the r180. Thanks

it's the factory differential from a 1981-1983 non-turbo m/t 280zx. I added a LSD carrier made by OBX and rebuilt the OBX with upgraded internals and fasteners. I had a shop install the carrier and rebuild the seals and bearings which caused complications the first time around

What size or thickness of metal is the companion flange that you had made? Is it 1" thick metal before the welding in the Datsun part.

Remedy Z no I believe it's half Inch. But the center is milled out so the original flange sits into it by about 1/8 inch so it fits snugly before being welded together

What is the with of the flange...6"? I'm about to order 1/2" thick by 6" wide by 12" long steel plate. And then just cut it off in 6" length.

when you took out the output shaft there was a seal. Did you have to remove that seal before you installed the 300zx cv axle? or did you leave in? the reason I ask is mine won't seat all the way, I'm wondering if I should remove the seal to make more room.

  • @BoostShackSpeedshop

There is a left and a right to the z31 axles. That could be why it's not seating in.
