My name is Jesse and this is a channel dedicated to automotive adventures while the focus specifically tends to fall on the RB25DET swapped Datsun 280z, other projects between myself and other friends frequent the channel.
Boost Shack is about what you can accomplish in small space with limited resources. Not everyone has access to state of the art tools and shops, but we can all build something awesome with enough dedication and patience.

Hey mate, what diff ratio?
Hey what did you use for a transmission mount?
Hi, any other way in finding the spring to connect the coils to the spark plugs nowadays? Thanks for the video.
Please reverse the US Flag in back of you. Hung wrong, the wall is not a coffin. You should have changed out the bearings while you were in there.
Thank you for taking the time to share this
next time will be a breeze
semi-metallic better for street
Run this S30 at Laguna Seca to show The Green Hornet 240z what's up. Greg Scott needs to be taught a lesson. Haha He ran a 1:39ish. You would beat that and get world wide recognized.
I have a small question I hope u read this. What's the difference between the cd005 and cd009
U need a bigger external wastegate
Was curious about your speedo reading. Do the speedometer reads?
Nice very nice car
More videos.
How has the cd009 held up!?!?!
Love how your car sounds 👌 what clutch & flywheel combo you using in your CD009? It's quiet
Turbo RB w stock halfshafts. Lol
Over 5 years ago. That's old news. I've had CV axles for half a decade now
Nice! I LOVE the sounds when you are accelerating around the onramp in 3rd gear and then you go through 4th, 5th and 6th gear. Love it! I have a N/A 240z with a ‘83 close ratio 5 speed. It’s got a pretty big drop in RPM going into 5th gear. 25% OD 🥴 I’m thinking about the CD009 or CD00A 6 speed once I get boosted. Your ratios sound perfect!
Awesome vid bro. Was hoping to see a pull seeing the rpm vs speed. Wanna understand the ratios etc
Ditto here. I have a 71B close ratio 5 speed but the 5th ratio is a pretty big overdrive at 25%. The drop in RPM is alot and with a N/A engine I don’t have a lot of torque.
Love your work brother. Could you tell me what is the name /color code of your z? I'm considering that color for mine
Love the cold starts. Everyone in my neighborhood knew when I pulled out, I only wish that we had the technology then 89- that you guys have today! I’d probably either be dead or buried under a prison somewhere . Had a 74 260z in H.S. that I put every dollar all my blood sweat and tears into back in the day!
What did u use for the turn signals I wanna get this kit but I’m absolutely sure these aren’t original
i like the bracket you had on better then the cx racing one. where did you get that one?
Id kill for it right now
Awesome great video. Need some more angles of the car with that great looking balanced combo. What you are missing on some tire slip , your gaining on rolling resistance at the end If there was any way to fit a 60 series you could gain a little traction on the launch with a longer footprint however you lose out if your gearing is more than optimal. i am doing some BFG radials P235/60R15 on some 15X9"" wheels on a daily driver 2nd gen camaro. All four corners. and doing some 15X12 with P295/50R15 for the back at the track.
Wow! on the differential did you use the oem bolts
With the Wilwood clutch did the new clutch rod work or did you use the old one?
I swapped the pushrod from the OEM master cylinder onto the wilwood. The willwood pushrod will not work on its own in the S30 without modification. But it's super easy to swap the pushrods!
Awesome build 👏 I have a 1979 280zx ls swap, with a cd009 going in next month
Love your amazing Z, what’s the specifications of your wheels and tires?
Great to see you again !
I have a question about the cd009 conversion. With the loj kit it says it accepts a single disk setup for both a VQ and an RB. Would there happen to be a twin plate option? The power I'm shooting for warrants a twin plate setup
I would probably reach out to LOJ on that one. I'm pretty sure it said somewhere that the kit only accepts single disk clutch. But I wouldn't doubt if they could make a custom solution for you or find a way to utilize a twin plate somehow
How’s the 3/4 bore size clutch master working out? I’m considering the same.
It works great!
@@BoostShackSpeedshop how much horses that rb25 have?
Thank you for this video you always keep me working on my datsun Z 1975!!
That's dope! Great job!
I literally just bought all the same things as you because of this video. Can’t wait to install them 👌🏻
Love seeing comments like this. Thats half the reason I make videos at all!
@@BoostShackSpeedshop thank you! I’m going to make my own tutorial on it similar to you, I’ll make sure to mention this video :)
Great job Jesse 👍🏻
Really nice setup! I bet that thing is loud when you floor it.
“There’s an occasional fireball... that shoots out of there” nbd lol
Very nice work.. you have the stock diff?
Yes it's the original 3.54 R200, but with welded spider gears
@@BoostShackSpeedshop I have a r180 in my car I’m afraid it’s going to break if I push it too hard... I heard the r200 are very strong...
Ahh man. This thing is so sweet ! Love the sound the look the whole thing.👍🏾 Thanks for another great video.
Love the videos man. And the CAR. :)
awesome to see! liking the CD009? we are just about to get started on putting a turbo LS in our 280z and we're thinking about using that trans.
I love it so far. Huge upgrade over the 5 speed for me
@@BoostShackSpeedshop what sensor is installed in the rear pipe of the turbo? is it the O² sensor, or the EGT sensor?
Love seeing this thing. And the info is grate.
Thanks for the video.
Sweet !! I love seeing this car. And I like the way you give us the info. Good job man.
Speed SoCal now sells McKinney. I recently purchased my swap kit from them. Customer service is excellent.
I think for anyone planning to do this swap, doing it with a car that was originally an automatic will be a little easier, at least for the 260z. From what I've read I think the transmission tunnel is a little bigger on the autos.
Great job brother
Good vid, excellent info.
I’m doing the same in my S30 and would like to know the weight differences between the flywheel on the rb and the flywheel that cane with the kit fir the cd009. The flywheel that comes with that kit looks quite bulky lol
It's lighter than it looks. The new flywheel is 17lbs. Factory rb25 flywheel is 22lbs. The flywheel I took out was either 14 or 15.
@@BoostShackSpeedshop ah ok, damn that is a lot lighter than it looks lol. Thanks for the reply!
@Boost Shack What is the part number on that energy suspension bushing for the front of the diff? And where did you get the axles from? The replacements I mean. And are they chromoly or another set of used axles? Also, its interesting that the turbo axles broke and not the stub axles... 🤔🤔🤔 Always thought the stubs were the weak link when you added the turbo axles.
You can use part number ES3-1108G OR ES3-1108R depending if you want black or red. And the replacement axles I got are just another set of used oem Z31T axles
I thought I was going to have to fabricate a new shifter bracket but thanks to you I know that part exists now. I'm swapping a vq35hr into my 260z
