Thanos on the other hand only really gained popularity with the MCU. Darkseid has a far more menacing and powerful presence. Thanos is a powerful villain but he is not in the same league as Darkseid in fact I wouldn't put him in the same league as Apocalypse.

I keep seeing you DC fanboys saying thanos has no powers without the gauntlet or he is weak without it but thats the fucking mcu version.Thanos has just as much the same powers as darkseid without the gauntlet the only thing the gauntlet does is make him virtually omnipotent but it does not give him powers in the comics. Yes darkseid was made before Thanos and also inspired his design and i respect that but Thanos is the better villain with more will, ambition and intellect and is just as powerful without the gauntlet and will go to any legnth no matter the cost to acheive his goal. Darkseid would also go to all lengths but he is just the normal selfish villain archetype that has the ordinary take over everything story.

Thanos quickly met the pushback from the Avengers at Earth, and it was likely opposition that he had never faced before. The Mad Titan was probably baffled that humans, some of the weakest beings in the universe, were the ones with the strongest resolve. That strongly annoyed Thanos, and although none of his slaughtering was ever personal, his annoyance with the Avengers and their allies meant that he would at least enjoy the task.

I still get chills hearing Darkseid talk😳

Josh Brolin was able to capture much of the subtlety and strength of Thanos' character while still referencing elements from the source material. Thanos is described as a strangely sensitive tyrant plagued by visions of a dark future. Although fierce and unrelenting on the battlefield, Josh Brolin's quieter moments effectively sold Thanos the Mad Titan to Marvel fans.

Thanos looks like a purple humanoid Barney while Darkseid is literally death.

Thanos had a complex character, emotions, sympathy and empathy, undestanding, a warped understanding of reality and the universe and a complex motive and determination. I'm not a hardcore comic book fan but I am a fan of good writing and Darksied ranks somewhere between Doofensmurtz(Phineas and Ferb) and MojoJojo(Powerpuff Girls) he is not even Dr Claw in terms of planning. All the power I keep hearing he has is irrelevant when he dosnt seem to have a solid motivation, three dimension character development beyond being "Big Bad" and some modicum of success and yet all that power is not strong enough to pierce the almighty "plot armor" of DC comics.

Darkseid of Apokolips and Thanos the Mad Titan could not be a better match for one another as each commands an exceptional level of power.

Josh Brolin was able to perfectly convey the mad genius of Thanos and he was intimidating enough to stand against some of the strongest characters on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Josh Brolin's Thanos was powerful, sympathetic and had a well-defined arc. The different eras of the Mad Titan gave Josh Brolin a bit of room to play with the role, which helped make Thanos the best villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jack Kirby created Darkseid, Jim Starlin has admitted that Thanos was “inspired” by Darkseid. In fact he was going to swipe Metron until his editor essentially said, “If you’re going to swipe from the New Gods, swipe Darkseid.” I hate how their movie interpretations are poisoning their legacy.

That's not really how it happened. The look of the character was inspired by Darkside, but the idea for the character was always more based on Thanatos. The Greek God of Death. Frankly that's a little more interesting then the Satanic roll that Darkside has always inhabited.

Multiple critics praised the performance of Josh Brolin, both vocally and for the emotions he conveyed through the motion capture. The performance allowed the audience to empathize with Thanos, while allowing them to believe his pain.

Good writing, complex motives and an intriguing character do. The joker of ledger and hans landa in inglorious bastards were mere men but where far far far better villains than the op villains of superhero movies. The fact that without the stones Darkseid is far stronger doesn't mean he is a better villain. Thanos is a complex character that doesn't do the stereotypical classic villain thing of hating the heroes and wants to kill them. To him he is a hero. He is saving the world. He has love in him for his daughter, he has a different look on the universe. He feels genuine respect for our heroes and has sympathy for their loses. He didnt even want to kill them as that wasn't his goal. He just wanted to make the universe filled with not starving life. His end gole was for life to thrive, and the fact that he then retired and destroyed the stones shows that he didnt even want to rule any of that life. He just did his job, taught them a lesson the hard way and then let them to live ( in his mind ) happy lives. Darkseid has nothing intimidating about him other than powers. Someone like Darkseid who wants to kill you because he just has a big ego and is evil is always less intimidating than Thanos who doesn't even have a grudge against you and only wants to achieve a higher goal that is beyond your understanding. Movie critics have said that Thanos is almost a perfectly written villain and trust me they know better than you. I hope they make Darkseid a good villain. Big, dump, " I want to kill you all because I have an ego problem " kind of villains can still be good if they are written properly. And I hope they do that. But the foundations have been set for a Darkseid that has a far simpler character than Thanos. He doesn't know love, he doesn't have complex motives, he isn't the hero of his story, he doesn't have human attributes like sympathy nor can he put his ego aside like Thanos did in the end and not try to rule over all remaining life. There is literally nothing to argue here. Thanos is a more complex and better written villain than Darkseid. Unless of course dc pulls a miracle with him in the next movie which with the foundations they have set, I find it very unlikely. I still hope they make him a good villain because thats more entertainment. Also why does someone have to be a marvel fan because he likes Thanos? Most dc fans loved Thanos. You can appreciate a good movie without being a fanboy. You just saying he isn't well written means nothing especially when you have no arguments to back it up. Who said that movie villains have to be very similar to their comic counterparts? It makes no sense. Batman is literally the only developed character in the dc universe with superman and wonderwoman being somewhat developed. The flash was an annoying kiddo, aquaman has literally no purpose of existence and a forgettable villain with the actor being the only kind of saving factor. Steppenwolf was ok and Darkseid looks ok too. Thats about it. Stark, rogers,thor,banner,Wanda,Thanos, gamora, all had much more complex and well built characters. Most dc fans will tell you that the mcu has been executed far better so far. You just tried to contradict my huge arguments by calling Thanos b grade Hitler. Like wtf. Hitler had a big ego, and a much more flawed logic. He thought he had a team so to speak, a race that was superior. Thanos didnt even believe in anyone's superiority as he took them out by chance equally. He didnt even see himself above others. This guy with a few tweaks could literally be a monk. 95% plus of movie critics, actors and fans that know what they are saying will tell you that the mcu and Thanos were very very well executed. Your opinion simply has no backing. And saying "keep trying" to make you look cooler from your basement makes no difference. I am not even trying to convince you about it because there is nothing to be convinced about. Every single monkey with a brain capable of processing 2+2 can understand that Thanos is well written. Ikr. Darkseid has been make adaptation debut in Superman Animated 1996 and live action debut (although not full appearance) in Smallville Season 10. We've already seen Darkseid in many media since then. Meanwhile Thanos rarely appeared even in animated. But because MCU, he got huge popularity.

Dude.... DC and Marvel ripped off almost every character the other made for decades. Popular and unpopular alike.

Thanos the Mad Titan was a cosmic conqueror of god-tier strength and a level of intimidation the likes of which readers had hardly seen in Marvel Comics lore before, and the image of him simply standing over Iron Man in his debut panel translated that perfectly.

Sometimes a villain is memorable because of their sheer power, as the threat they pose to the wider cosmos is too great to ignore for even a moment, while other times, a villain will hit a more personal nerve in certain heroes.

Big screen definitely Thanos but his story had 20+ movies to build it up and Brolin was just brilliant. Animated movies and comics, Darkseid by a significant amount

Movies aren’t even comparable we haven’t seen both darksied can do like so not even comparable in terms of who strong obviously darksied but with the stones that debatable because that be a great match up

Darkseid is the tyrant of Apokolips who intends to conquer the cosmos and abolish free will while Thanos the Mad Titan is a strong cosmic being who gathers the Infinity Stones in order to wield the power of the cosmos.

There is no more powerful villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than Thanos, a true monster without a conscience.

That result wouldn't have been the same if Snyder actually got a chance on showing the actual Darkseid in his movies

Thanos was able to win all those fights only with the help of Infinity stones. But Uxas ( its Uxas, when he gets injured in the war with old gods) fought without only his powers against the lanterns, warriors of earth and amazons together. Thor alone was enough to hurt thanos even when thanos had the stones.

Allow me to summarize. Darkseid was the inspiration for Thanos's creation. Thanos needs the infinity gauntlet to be a god, but Darkseid already is one without a superpowered artifact he could lose. Superman would crush Thanos but Darkseid has bested him numerous times. Long story short, Darkseid wins. If you need any more confirmation check out the Death Battle on these 2, it's really quite a show.

Josh Brolin's biggest and most famous role to date is as the tyrannical titan Thanos, the Infinity Saga villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in Avengers: Infinity War.

For me personally thanos is the answer for the title for if we are taking comics into effect 100% darkseid wins the nostalgia and all and obviously he is more powerful

That would be hilarious, especially given his history of a love triangle with Mistress Death and Thanos. I can’t imagine how Thanos would feel if it was thanks to Deadpool that he won though.

I think Thanos has better characterization thanks to the MCU. Yet because of Superman TAS, Darkseid feels like the more intimidating foe.

There's also a difference in characterization between MCU Thanos and Comic Thanos, from what I understand. MCU Thanos didn't have any relationship with Death, I believe. Don't quote me on that, though.

How the hell is killing a bunch of lizards because he was encouraged by the avatar of death a better backstory than a mere mortal tricking the gods themselves to fight so he can administer the killing blows to gain their powers?

It's a little bit more complicated than that I've read both comics and I was more invested in Thanos' story. Darksied kinda feels like a tyrant 'just because' and Thanos did that stuff out of his twisted curiosity, it was later revealed that he had an interest in murder and research even without the death lady.

I really like Infinity war thanos, and endgame thanos (although not as much as infinity war thanos). And although i dont keep up with the comics, and have not seen a lot from DC, i do admit that Darkseid is a more fearsome villain.

Disagree with that last point. I would factor in how much of an impact the villian has on their universe instead of how they have impacted cultures. Not on that but they literally said Darkseid inspired the creation of Thanos so he maybe wouldn’t have even been created had it not been for Darkseid. It’s close but I would say overall Darkseid should take this one. Plus he’s appeared in various media way more than Thanos (comics, cartoons, movie)

@John Rivera Uxas was already a New God. He was a far less powerful New God of the thing that we now know as evil. He became Darkseid when he murdered the original New God of evil and took the Omega Effect from him. The Omega turned him into the second New God of evil but it was his own power that changed Omega just as much as it changed him. What we perceive evil as being today, is not what evil always was. It was something else entirely. It only evolved into the idea of evil we know now when the Omega effect evolved along with it. The very concept of what evil is changed the day Uxas became Darkseid.
