Regarding the sound effects that are both in these games and other media: Sound Libraries (a collection of several Gigabites worth of sound files) are very often used to make these pieces of media, and some sound libraries might have been shared around, and so the sound designer for dark souls probably got his hands on some sound libraries that were used in other media, probably hollywood level quality ones

Does that mean Fran Walsh's screams have been added to a sound library? I think the Nazgul screams have been used for that boss in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as well as the Cleric Beast and the giant raven in Dark Souls. That sound is heard in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' when Frodo and Sam, upon leaving farmer Maggot's orchard, they are in the middle of a road, and Frodo thinks something dangerous is approaching. The ensuing gust of wind carries a faint Nazgul cry from afar. That's the sound used for the giant raven in Dark Souls when it picks you up and drops you in the Firelink Shrine.

Classic DnD. Spell memorization on rest is how spells work in early editions. Soul Arrow = Magic Missile Fire Orb = Fireball etc. Mimic is an iconic DnD monster. Cruel traps are also a staple of old DnD. Magical darkness full of skeletons and some other themes remind of Fafhrd and Grey mouser books, which are among DnD inspirations, listed in Appendix N Also, Fighting Fantasy, MtG.. BTW, environments from old Lupin 3 anime were IMO used several times in Souls games and Castlevania.

who cares? this happens all the time in art and in various different mediums. Movies, Music, Video Games all borrow and recycle sounds, samples, themes, camera panning etc etc. good job on figuring out the thing sound clip/the bed of Chaos. Makes me love both even more.

I love hearing reused sounds throughout Souls games. There are very many. Climbing ladder sounds the same between Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Demons Souls and Dark Souls UI and many other sounds. A specific sound in Elden Ring UI is also in Dark Souls 2 UI. The list goes on and on.

This is amazing even if some of the using of assets is a little backwards. I have to say most of what you used is dead on bosses and types for sure is 100 percent right.

I mean yeah there's similarities and repeated design choices but it really doesn't matter at this point, fromsoftware have found a formula that works for their games pretty much every time. Personally I'll be disappointed if Elden Ring doesn't have a poison swamp area, even if I'll hate it and never want to explore that area more than I have to. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't have a larger than average knight, or a boss with one huge arm, I've come to expect and love it from these games. It brings a sense of comfort almost, and the game won't feel like a true fromsoftware game if it doesn't have at least one of the iconic repeated design choices
