    Its possible that the "untended graves" is actually in the past, as more proof is from the old women merchant, if spoken to before the original firelink shrine merchant, the original old women merchant would actually give a unique dialog as if she has met you before and is suprised to see you again And champion Gundyr is actually Gundyr at his prime strength hence the name "champion" before being taken over by the puss of men Also the reason there is only one giant crystal lizard in the original path to the original firelink shrine is because the other has died leaving one alive

If you never talk to your hand maiden at fire link shrine, talk to the handmaiden in the Untended Graves, and then finally talk to the hand maiden at Firelink shrine she says “Oh thou'rt... i just have to say that the only one i KNOW for a FACT is not true is "DS3 is in the past" as soul of cinder is the final boss of DS3 but Gael is the final boss of the series, the ending of the ringed city is filled with the ash of ALL of man and monster, you and gael are the last ones around, this is why its "at worlds end" and why i am pretty sure we arent getting another DS game, thats it... gael has the power to retake the realm and rebuild it but we get in his way. as another YT comment on another video put it. "Like literally the last fight at the end of time. All other combatants have faded and turned to ash. And you battle in a valley made of their scattered ash. You, a failure, ressurected to try and save the world again when many who succeded refused to do it again. Gael, a slave, cursed and belittled. But hes outlived his masters.... hes collected all the parts of the "dark soul" one of four borne of the first flame.... all... but the bit you hold. He literally holds all the power in the world... except that which you bring with you. There is literally nothing left in the entire world... but you ... and Gael. And no matter the outcome of your battle... the Dark Soul will be made whole again.. the ringed city is called at worlds end because it IS the end, the end of time and it shows the best part is.. and canonically you DON'T rekindle the first flame but let it die, so that would take time.. just enough time.. to take the dark soul and end the timeline

  • @jonaswest6993

    @jonaswest6993

    Yes, and that's why I love Gael so much. One more final battle between two hollowing undead on a mountain of corpse's. Just like the God's intended if you consider how cynical Gwyn was about his ending age. He probably just hoped at least a few god's would be left to see it. I don't think so with the lightning during your battle with Gael being different to the God's miracle lightning in color, almost as if the very world itself is trying to end this tragedy and make the dark souls whole through one of the hollows deaths, just to restore enough balance for it to slowly fade into the dark.

    Real quick, its not canonical that you DONT rekindle the flame, its canonical that you CANT. While there is an ending where you try, your effort isnt enough, and the flame dies soon after anyways. So, all the endings are possible in canon, as you either dont rekindle the flame or you try and fail. Edit: its probably more fitting to say that the fire cant be rekindled, as its been kindled too many times. Thats more accurate than saying you cant kindle it.

  • @doctorpuffo

    Gundyr has nothing to do with the mess that happened in the Untended Graves. He probably was the founder of Lothric, as his armor states. Yes, he was fooled and convinced to link the Fire, but when he came to the Shrine, according to the Japanese descriptions, didn't found any celebration or Fire and was killed by us Unkindled, and his body was converted into a golem whose purpose was to test the next Unkindled from the Cementery (his title in Japanese literally means "Judge of the Ash"). As time passed, his humanity became the corrupted human pus that we see in the tutorial. The Untended Graves are a place that co-exist with the current Firelink Shrine, and represent a world when the Flame ALMOST faded, but was saved at the last minute thanks to Ludleth.

    @@steampunkastronaut7081 Probabably he is, since his armour tells that it is modeled after a former king, and the Estus Ring tells us that his failure of the Linking of the Fire became a story which the masses laughed about, and the royal family after that event had to provide a fitting heir when the the Fire was fading, that is prince Lothric. Plus, Gundyr's armor has a similar design to the Dragonslayer one, which is a remnant of the kingdom's past when Lothric knights hunted drakes, or wyverns. I haven't played Demon's Souls, so I can't confirm if Gundyr's armor is inspired to a character in that game EDIT: yes, Gundyr's armour design, especially his helm, is clearly inspired by Old King Doran's one, who was also the founder of Boletaria (and, if you think about it, Lothric is inspired by Boletaria in many other aspects)

    The Sunlight maggot is a parasite right, and a demonic one at that. And the Carthus Sandworm's body is literally constructed out of hundreds if not thousands of dead hollows. My theory is that the sunlight maggot that controlled Solaire slowly consumed and absorbed him, similar to Aldrich and Gwyndolin, growing larger in the process and gaining his ability to cast lightning. After consuming Solaire and his power, it moved on to more victims, growing ever larger and more bloated and quite likely twisted by the dark that swept into the land in Solaire's timeline since he failed to link the fire. Until eventually it became the abomination we face in the Smouldering Lake in DS3. Spooky stuff.

    Some of these are neat thought experiments. But, I do have issues with some of them. For instance we play as Gael in DS2. I don't buy it because Gael is a slave knight and the slave knights were fighting alongside Gwyn against the Dragons and never were relived of their duty. The Ashen One being Oceleotte I also don't buy. An Ashen One is an Undead who attempted to link the Flame and failed, being reduced to ash. Dying when attempting to link the fire. The reason the fire consuming us is so pathetic is because the first flame acts like a phone battery. It starts off strong and healthy. But, after repeated recharges, it gets steadily weaker and requires more investment to keep it charged. Same thing with the flame. It's been artifical extended so many times it is on its last legs. It takes one chock full of powerful souls of past Lords of Cinder and then some to even get a small smolder out of it. Some more: Solaire and the sand worm. Miyazaki has stated that the Canon ending for Solaire was to not go crazy and link the fire in his world. Plus, item descriptions for the yellow bug pellet things talk about the worm having terrorized the sands of Carthus (hence the name Carthus Sandworm) before being driven underground. DS3 is in the past. I learn towards not believing it but I can see why some would. The big thing left that Ruins it for me is Gundyr. Champion Gundyr is in his prime, but showed up late to his run at linking the fire, was bested by an unknown warrior and then was used as the sheath for the coiled sword and made to judge any who wished to enter Firelink shrine. That throws a spanner in the works. It's tough to say. Oh and lastly that Dark Souls and Bloodborne are connected. I'll never be convinced of any connection unless it's made pretty clear in game. From makes it clear in the Dark Souls series that the sequels are indeed sequels with all the carried over armors, weapons, etc. There's nothing like that for Demon's Souls or Bloodborne. As cool as it would be, I don't see any connection. Though most of these points are either just straight up true or believable thought experiments. A fun dive for sure.

    Kind of a lot of conjecture here, man. Sometimes, it's conjecture about something that actually exists, which isn't necessary. You don't need to guess what a stop sign does, since it says "stop" on it. Siegward does end his own life. Yorick, or whatever the shell guy's name was, is part of a cult to create the dark lord and end the age of fire. It's the thing that keeps him going. After he is done, he doesn't need to live. Side note: Priscilla is Prih-sill-uh. The sc is like in science. Heinous is Hay-Nus (rhymes with anus) Stead is Stedd, like Homestead, or steady. Good editing, man. You are doing great.

    Gael was a Slave Knight in service to Gwyn. They were undead shock troops who fought and died again and again. They all went mad, except Gael. He was there at the start and persisted to the end. The Champion of men, he knew what the Dark Souls would do to him, he also knew what he had to do in order to turn into pigment for a painting that would never die. He brings you to Ariandel when he meets you, and seeing you strength he witnesses one of the most powerful beings. Unkindled Ash that cannot die, only grow in strength, and he’ll need you to help him fulfill his purpose in the Ringed City. He needs a champion as strong as you to lay him to rest after mixing the Dark Soul with his own blood for pigment. And now a painted world that will never rot or decay can be painted, a new home for men. Free of the fire linking curse, a place free of Gwyn’s transgressions against them with the continual pushing back of the Age of Dark. The Age of Men.

One reason is because gundyr has not fallen to the corruption yet and another reason is that if you talk to the shrine handmaiden in untended graves before you talk to her in fire link than she will seem to remember you so it wouldn’t make sense for someone to know who you are if you only met them in the future and meet them again In the past.

    Unfortunately you're wrong on a lot of the points here. - It is not confirmed Gwynevere is the queen of lothric - Aldrich only confirmed devoured Gwyndolyn. He is known to dream up spells (Gravelord Greatsword, and lifehunt scythe). To note, he does NOT eat Priscilla - We know Velka is a goddess, a goddess of Sin, capable of absolving sin - Carthus sandsworm is made of multiple human bodies and bones. It's not just 1 entity's - bloodborne and Dark souls are not connected universes or worlds - Ocelot is invisible. It's a known ability of a dragonchild to become invisible (as we know from Priscilla). We also know he's there from datamining and other methods of rolling back game files as well as again, Priscilla. - Aldrich was not Smough. Aldrich was a Cleric originally who took up the habit of eating me (flesh and all). Smough was known simply to grind the bones of his victims into his food. Not eating everything - The pus of man (Black goo) is something to do with the curse and cycle of fire becoming stagnant. It stems from humanity going out of control, or something to that effect - Slave Knight Gael is not our character from DS2. He's from an age that specifically used Slave Knights, which is not the age of Dranleic - The Darksign is to do with the curse. It was not created by gwyn, rather it was a consequence or gwyn linking the first flame. It's flame encircling the darkness that is humanity and acts as the symbol of the undead curse - completely wrong about untested Graves. Where there is no light, there is no time. Untended Graves is simply a place devoid of all time, meaning the rest of the world is the present - the whole thing with DS3 is that the cycle of Fire is infinite if we keep linking the flame. The age of dark ending is not cannonical and the age of dark cannot start as undead keep linking the flame (which we know they do due to the Gael boss arena) - the painted world's are isolated worlds that act as mirrors to the "real" world... the world of dark souls. The friendly Corvian states "its the one thing we do right, unlike those fools on the outside", referencing that the inhabitants of the painted worlds allow new worlds and new ages to appear and progress, unlike what the "outside" does, in keeping a stagnant age of fire

    It's much more likely that Yhorm was related to High Lord Wolnir. He was an old conquerer, from the same game, is certainly big enough to be a giant, has a similar way of being defeated ( they're both almost impossible to kill normally, you have to use something that specifically deals a lot of damage to them) and Wolnir has a regular humanoid head/face than the Giants of DS2. Also, Aldrich simply dreamed of prisilla, and gained her fighting abilities and weaponry. It's a much lesser known thing that Aldritch does. He also uses her scythe during his fight, so...

    Ocelotte being part dragon is in fact capable of turning invisible, just like other dragon hybrids (like you said, Priscilla) and likely using his ability in a protective manner out of fear, there is as well an actual model of Ocelotte that exists but was left out of the final game and would have made the boss fight much darker, even for Dark Souls as Ocelotte's crushed body after Oceiros slams him into the ground would have been both visible and the crunching and painful moans would have been heard for each time Oceiros walked using that arm

    The darksign is not really an item. It's more like a brand. It's the mark of the undead curse and it's within/on each undead/unkindled. Though it's produced by the effects of Gwin and the first flame, I wouldn't really agree that it's a tool to link the flame. It's likely based on the brand that Guts has in Berserk since miyazaki is heavily influenced by the series. I'd say whoever wrote the darksign purpose theory simply doesn't know enough about the base lore.

    The dark sign is the medium of the undead curse. Making a circular mark with human pine resin combined with an ember from a bonfire causes a corpse to come back to life as an undead (this is the ritual we see in the intro to Dark Souls 1). The Darksign eclipse symbolizes the stranglehold that the cycle has on the setting, as if the world itself is undead, and the fact that the age of fire, rather than ending peacefully, is going out kicking and screaming.
