The chalice dungeons in Bloodborne are (imo) meant to represent the world of Dark Souls. Contains a place called ailing "Loran" only 1 letter off from lordran, has a boss called keepers of the old lords which are quite literally witches who wield pyromancy, and is the only place in the game with illusory walls.

Chester is a reference to Demon's Souls and is actually wearing the Boletarian Soldier's garb (without chain-mail) mixed with the Fat Official's mask and hat. I'm pretty sure Chester was implemented into DS DLC something like a year (give or take) before Bloodborne was even an alpha concept. You can tell he definitely influenced Bloodborne, but his creation ultimately came from Demon's Souls. Another clue is in his dialogue, when he says _"Fooled by that toothy serpent, they upturned the grave of primeval man, and incited his ornery wrath."_ indicating he's aware of this universe's lore, humanity's undead curse, and even the manipulating primordial serpents (which players only realize after a few playthroughs). Marvelous Chester is most likely displaced by time, not dimension given his clear understanding of things, being only a professed "traveler". ...but Bloodborne was Demon's Souls 2 (project Beast), right up until the demo was released, so anything's possible. Umbasa!!

In Indonesia it was known as a traditional weapon, and have magical property to it, it was one of the common thing shaman, witch doctor or some other supernatural profession usually have here, thus the magical property in the demon souls version of it. Rather than treat it like some special weapon, just see it like how katana is from japan, keris come from South East Asia.

All miyazakis games' story is the "dark night of the soul" or "mortal journey" which deals with spiritual Ascension of man/evolution of human consciousness. The story is told through visual symbols and lore elements. All the last bosses Gwyn, soul of cinder, gerhman/moon presence and isshin ashina symbolically represent the last stage where you fight with God/creator in the garden.

I think of the shared qualities between these games as being similar to how Ghibli movies often have similar motifs. Sekiros Moonlight blade: I always assumed Sabimaru to be the Moon light 'great sword' in Sekiro once it has the final upgrade. "The combination of Lapis Lazuli and the rusted blue blade produces a poisonous mist with every swing. Dissolving the Lapis Lazuli over the blade caused the ancient blue rust to bubble to the blade's surface." The image has the same blue/green glow in it, but its not as solid a reference to space as the blue shuriken literally referring to shooting stars (That one is a possible hint to Rhadan and gravity magic in ER). The rust on the blade looks right though so maaaaaaaaybe.

I don't believe Marvelous Chester is meant to be a reference to Bloodborne. The NPC was created before the DLC and before work on Bloodborne started. Is it possible that they wanted to create victorian clothing? Is it possible that they wanted to create a game with that setting? Sure, but that doesn't CONFIRM him as a Bloodborne reference like most From Software focused channels tend to see him.

Even less with the numerous samurai references in the game. The studio is japanese. They did ninja focused games before d Dark Souls. Turning asian references in From Software titles into Sekiro foreshadowing is beyond stupid to be honest.

If you take a look in the game files Chester has two other models, among a black zwiehander we would’ve got from killing him, these assets date back a year or two before bloodbournes development, although his design was radically changed after BB development started, hence the two models

I wouldve loved it if Chester from Dark Souls actually made an apperance in BloodBorne It would work so perfectly because Chester and the Player Character were both pulled in from different times and different places through a portal by Manus, so what if Manus pulled Chester in from the BloodBorne universe and happened to have ended up in Dark Souls? That would be one of the coolest connection between two games ever! I think the only problem is that if you can encounter Chester and kill him in BloodBorne then that would take all that out of the realm of possibility Unless🤔....Maybe Chester actually is apart of the BloodBorne universe and he was just pulled away by Manus before we ever got the chance to meet him?! Thats my Head Canon now and there's nothing you can tell me differently

Not really foreshadowing, more like just referencing. Foreshadowing is a literary device that the audience can derive a meaning from. There's not really any meaning to these references, so they are just that: references. Also, they're... not "making fun" of dark souls with the shield. They are teaching and encouraging the play style of Bloodborne.

In Sekiro they use lapis lazuli, which is basically glintstone and foreshadows Elden Ring and I think takes the place of the moonlight great sword in the form of the shuriken, axe, and flamethrower, you can even buff your sword with the blue flame like you can buff the Darkmoon Greatsword.

The evil eye ring really strikes me as something significant, seeing as it is said to have the spirit of a “dark beast” held within. Looking at ds2’s description, it states “Peer too closely at the rare stone that forms the eye of this ring, and things that writhe and stir may come into focus.” Which to me, is pretty reminiscent of the eldritch abominations we encounter in bloodborne. Probably the single most interesting thing about the ring is how it is relatively unthought of when considering lore

Interesting idea, but Bloodborne is not the only Miyazaki title with Lovecraftian inspiration, it's just the one that makes it a main component. Miyazaki has been into cosmic themes since Demon's Souls (the entire Tower of Latria). All the Dark Souls games have some form of Lovecraftian element too. Not entirely sure about Sekiro though. In interviews he states a lot of his inspiration (outside of Berserk, obviously) comes from Magic the Gathering, which also uses some quintessential Lovecraftian elements.

Patches does often help you though, even if unintentionally. In demon souls he can kick you down next to a potentially useful npc you can rescue, in dark souls he kicks you down to 3 items, one of which is a skull lantern which is useful if you haven't found the sunlight maggot for the tomb of the giants, in ds3's ringed city dlc when you finish his questline he kicks you down to a place you need to go to find the way forward. In all the games he's in I think he also becomes a merchant of varying usefulness too
