I can't even count how many thousands of retellings I've heard of this. But I've never heard it narrated so well. This is one top-notch "reader," and speaker!

I love the fact that there are no obstacles infront of the entrance just so that people with disabillities dont have a problem going in, and for the fact that there are no doors it sends a positive message that everyone is welcomed

I'm an avid reader ,lover and admirer of dark fantasies,crime thrillers and gothic genre. This, however,has traumatized me. Dante was,is and will always be the pioneer in what he has written. Hats off to the animators,musicians and the writers of this channel. Keep doing what you're doing! Love from India!

Dante’s Divine Comedy is one of the greatest works ever written and this powerful retelling with artwork is really thrilling, made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! I don’t think Dante meant it 100% literally, he used it as a vehicle for social and political satire and a wake up call to repentance. The main point of the punishments is to get people to repent: these sinners have got to realise fully the pain they’ve inflicted, the grief they’ve caused, and the righteousness of God’s justice, otherwise they’ll just go through eternity feeling terribly sorry for themselves. Some of them, such as Paolo and Francesca in the whirlwind of lovers, would do it all over again if they were alive, so they’ve not really repented at all. 😢

@@donalain69 That's not how you are supposed to think about it. It's a "comedy" bc of the variety of ways of linguistic expressions, from comic to stately/solemn. And it's doesn't only talk about religion, but also politics, emotions, people, human suffering, morality, and only if you have read it you could understand. It's and incredible, immortal piece of artwork. Shame on those who judge without thinking, and deeply understanding.

I like that the 7th circle includes bankers who charge too much interest. XD

Another interesting fact about the neutrals is that they were also being punished by being forced to chase a banner that was moving insanely fast. In life, these souls did not have loyalty to anyone (in other words, they did not follow any banner). Now they forever chase the very thing that they had rejected.

It’s been a while but I could have sworn the reason the 9th circle was frozen because it was furthest from the light of god.

I think the actual reason was because Lucifer was trapped there to the waist level, Flapping his Wings, causing enormous winds that forever keep the Lake Cocytus frozen.

I watch Dante inferno every couple years so I won't forget the story .the anime movie adaptation is awesome the way they introduce multiple drawing styles as the story progresses

I always look forward to Dante inferno videos.

Very well done! I can't help but marvel at the historical figures. Like Cleopatra, Judas, Ceasar, etc, etc, etc. And how their names & deeds are so remembered. Actually is called "Comedy" without "Divine". "Divine" was added by the printing of 1555 (Ludovico Dolce), as a reference to what Boccaccio said in his biography of Dante

for some reason I get vibes from the Dantes inferno video game genre xD, some of the designs look nearly similar but an interesting take on the story! what's funny is this was a fanfiction written by Dante after his distain and dislike for the church since the current pope was doing very poor job, and what's ironic is they took this story in incorporated it into their canon

Why not both? the evil a person commits will consistently outweigh good deeds. Baptism is simply the method of preventing that statement from being true. So that a person's small good will become great, and their great evil, nonexistent.

I have 'The Divine Comedy' in a leatherbound format! Its an amazing literary piece, with many fascinating concepts!! Always looking forward to Purgatory and Paradiso!!

It perfectly describes life. Not after life but living life. Brilliant author with an amazing psychic capability to "channel". We assume there's after life to avoid recognizing that this is all about live, the pain each endures, the non negotiable consequence of our moral and ethical decisions. All layered, all personally consequential, all dynamic and ethernal. Welcome to Life.

Nice interpretation and summary! Great graphics and design too! The Divine Comedy is one of my favorite books. I've read Inferno twice and Purgatario once not to long ago. I'm yet to read Paradiso.

I always thought Dante inferno was of Roman? As a Greek it is very cool to see so much Greek mythology added in, Χάρος for the boat, Μίνως for the judge, the script on top of the archway for the gate is written in Greek and many more.
