For all of you thinking that 70 generations seem like a really short time considering the average human lifespan you are not taking into consideration the average lifespan at that time according to biblical records. During the time of Enoch, the average lifespan was closer to 900 years old. Enoch was taken to heaven without dying when he was 365 years old. 900 years * 70 generations = 63,000 years

I get goosebumps every time I read Enoch and he begins the book by saying that he writes not for his contemporaries or even their great grandchildren but for a remote generation far in a future world unrecognizable by those of his time (though I think it’s mighty obvious that there was much higher tech in his time on earth than in ours). It’s a shame morons took it out of most Bibles. I mean my God, Christ Himself quotes from the Book of Enoch more than all other books of the Torah combined. And I think I’ll trust Christ before I trust the idiots at Nicea.

We have be very careful with how we think about Enoch and other apocryphal books for the sake of orthodoxy in general. But I like to think that God deliberately didn't directly inspire the book of Enoch, or move in such a way throughout history to preserve it so that we could be confident in its absolute inerrancy or authenticity (like He did with the canon of scripture) because He clearly wants Lucifer to think that they're winning. And it's debatable whether or not the forces of darkness could make the strides of progress they are making in the world if the servants of God knew the full scope of what we are dealing with. That he did it to protect us from knowledge that we literally can't handle is a compelling idea too though. Perhaps it's a bit of both. It's also interesting to note that it's been a rather compelling plot of at least a few movies that a group of beings survived some sort of apocalyptic war, and were so traumatized by it that they developed technology to make them forget. The name escapes me at the moment, but a movie comes to mind where earth is apparently being invaded by aliens, but as the movie goes on you, you find out that the "invaders" are actually humans trying to return to earth after being driven from the planet by the humanoids they created. The war was so costly and traumatizing for the humanoids who remained that they erased their memories to make it easier to build a new life for themselves. Similarly, the very concept of Demons siring children with humans has been something Hollywood has been obsessed with for a long time. Indicative in everything from horror movies like Rosemary's Baby to Arnold Schwarzenegger shoot-em-up movies like End of Days.

@ron webber Lucifer isn't in Genesis. Lucifer, the serpent, satan, the dragon were all distinct entities originally, its only later belief that mashed them together into a single entity. Satan was a position, a servant of God who tempted and tested men, the serpent was just a snake, Lucifer is commonly thought by biblical scholars to refer to a king and Revelations is a political allegory of the time, one of many such works. Add in a firey afterlife from Greek mythology to punish sinners, Tartarus, to become Hell and some dualism commonly thought to come from Zoroastrianism and we end up with the Devil, the fallen angel Lucifer who becomes Satan and opposed God. Lots of references to his component parts predate this belief so have to be read with that in mind. Djinn are from Islam where the mythology has changed again, Shaitan is a djinn not an angel but largely fills a similar role to the Christian Devil, although I don't believe he rules over he'll.

I couldn't say where I heard the following ideas about these angels originally. Some believed that when Lucifer tried to overthrow God and take over heaven, there was a third group of angles that choose neutrality, fighting neither for God nor Lucifer. After Lucifer and his host were locked in Hell, God gives the neutral angels a lesser punishment, exiling them to Earth until the end of days. These were said to have become the Watcher Angels.

When you considered that Christianity never denies other “deities” or mini gods or Demi gods and in Greek mythos that Titans are Proto gods and Cronos who is the titan of time is Zeus father, it could be associated with that all pantheons Greek, Scandinavian, Hindu, Japanese Shinto, gods are angels or demigods in terms of Christianity. Another way of looking at it in the comic books Odin is considered a sky god, he’s hyper dimensional but not Omnipotent like the one before all, still mortal but a lifespan greater than man

Another reason why I think I’m more inclined to believe in the legitimacy of Enoch 1&2 is because it explains a lot of unanswered questions in the Old Testament. Especially, the questions surrounding The Great Flood. Although, there is one question that bothers me, which is the fact that the nephilims (Angel offsprings) still existed after it. I also understand why the book of Enoch became non-canonical - these sons of God who have fallen from grace were not going to be allowed full cameos in God’s Holy book and rightly so. But yeah, if anyone has any ideas as to how the giants or descendants of them managed to exist after the flood, I’d appreciate it. The flood happened in Genesis but they are subsequently mentioned again in Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.” And Deuteronomy 3:11 (For only Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bed was a bed of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? Nine cubits was its length, and four cubits its breadth, according to the common cubit.) And 2 Samuel 21:18 After this there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Saph, who was one of the descendants of the giants. 1 Samuel 17:4 And there came out from the camp of the Philistines a champion named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

@@busubalang2361 I think because of the unnatural genetics God demanded total destruction of certain cities in Canaan whilst others He allowed the Israelites to keep the women, children and livestock.

Do you think Michael was supposed to be pronounced as Mike-ay-el? To fit with other archangels
