I'm old and so OVER most traditional christmas songs - when this came out last year I heaved and sigh and listened anyway, knowing that Geoff would be fabulous no matter what. This became an instant favorite. I adore it. Not a boring or predictable moment anywhere to be found. He is amazing. It's so obvious that he pursues his music as art, and is relentless about expanding his own limits.

I have sang the bass part of this song so many times for choir, when Geoff came out with this, yes, it was a major breath of fresh air for me. I got so burned out on traditional Christmas songs, I just stopped singing them. I am 46, so I've been singing and hearing them for close to a half century... hearing them revitalized definitely helps, for sure.

@@johndeeregreen4592 Yeah, I did my choir stint too. Maybe that's part of the problem. I'm easily bored, and at best, they reach a polish that makes them exactly like every other, with entirely too many identical verses. Boredom within the song, boredom without as it comes in, uninvited, from every direction. Geoff, on the other hand, doesn't even repeat the glorious musical phrases I'm dying to hear again...

I second that…this is one of the reasons he’s been an inspiration to me.

One of my favourite things about Geoff's videos are how much the Geoffs look at and interact with each other. Like an actual vocal group would for entrances and keeping synced.

You are right, in his solo work, he writes the entire arrangement. He records it all first then does the video. He sings along with the recording, you can watch the movement of his mouth and throat, it never looks lip synced. I think this arrangement for his solo is the best that he's done. At least, it's my personal favorite. Thanx for reacting to and analyzing this one Danielle, can't wait for more Geoff!

Geoff's new one is out any day now. :) Yes he creates his own harmonies, he does the arranging, sing, fliming, editing, etc and also arranges roughly half of the songs for VoicePlay.

Now that we're officially in the holiday spirit...you really have to check out Voiceplay's "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch"...another awesome exhibit of Geoff Castellucci's range.

OMG you have to hear the "im dreaming of a white Christmas" , epic does not do it justice

It sounds spooky because much of the tone is the same as his Monster Mash cover. And the inflection on "merrrrrrry gentlemen" is very spooky sounding.

This one has a nice Mannheim Steamroller vibe. I love it.

I have some suggestion for your Christmas song list! Look into Geoff's cover of "Mele Kalikimaka" and also Voctave's cover of "Mary Did you Know" and "Come All Yé Faithful"!!!

First of all, Congratulations, regarding your pregnancy. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. A few observations: 1) I love this video. It's truly scary, just how talented Geoff is. Notice how the lighting in the back windows "dance" to Geoff's voice? 2) This came out last Christmas. Geoff just released his Christmas video of I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas on Patreon a few days ago. It premieres on KZread tomorrow afternoon. I would love for you to react to it. It is awesome. When I first saw Geoff was doing this I thought 'well, at least he'll do something interesting with it'! I couldn't have imagined, one of the oldest and more boring, imo, carols could be arranged in such a unique and highly enjoyable way. Wednesday ROCKED!!!!! I totally agree. This was Without a doubt the most epic version of the song I'd had ever heard. Absolutely loved his arrangement on this 1. And he totally revitalized this song from its traditional roots. I know I've never heard an arrangement like this or I've never heard this song sound like this. I'm not sure if you have this planned on your roster or not but I just found out that voiceplay did a Rendition of oholy night featuring Rachel Potter and it was absolutely gorgeous. It's about 5 years old but it was the 1st time I heard it the other day and it was so Good. Also you're a mean one Mr. Grinch was nuts and funny. DJ young just came back for a rendition of the chipmunk song Which absolutely blew my mind.

I’ve asked this question on a couple of other reactions, but haven’t seen an answer. You paused and mentioned how he did “prai … ses” with that pause in the middle. Is there a separate word for that staccato effect when it’s sung rather than played on an instrument? Also, I’m a bit confused. The title says “Fa-la-la-idays,” but you said “Fa-la-la-lidays.” Which is it? 😉

I love all of Geoff's work (and VoicePlay's) but this might be my favorite of his solo works. And I don't even like Christmas music. 🤷
