Geoff does a lot of this, with his 'clones' - check out his covers of 'Sixteen Tons', or 'The Headless Horseman'..! This was a 'reprise' of the four dwarves from his earlier cover of 'Over The Misty Mountains Cold' from the first Hobbit film, Rick Underwood (the amazing makeup/prosthetics artist) kept all the beards/moustaches and hairpieces, Kathy (Geoff's wife) kept all the costumes, though they did make a few changes/additions - for the filming it was just Geoff. Kathy and Rick in the studio. He does all the arranging, recording, editing and initial mix himself, then sends it to Ed Boyer for the final audio mix (Ed also mixes for Voiceplay. Home Free and many other acapella groups) before filming. He is also the bass for Voiceplay, who also release a ton of amazing content, from Disney medleys to Metallica, from country to rock - and everything in between. One of his VP bandmates, Eli (Ellie) Jacobson, programmed the lighting for this video the day before the shoot, as he couldn't be there on the day. Oh - and you really should listen to these with headphones to get the full effect!

It's all Geoff. It's an E1 subharmonic. Kathy, his wife, is the production manager for both Geoff's solos and VoicePlay's videos. Geoff has a 5-octave plus range: A0 growl, B0 subharmonic, F1 full chest (F#1 mostly does as lowest chest), head voice highest note Bb5 (Peaches mini Voiceplay (SuperMario movie)). Kathy Castellucci is the production manager for both Geoff's solos and VoicePlay. For this she brought back costumes and weapons from Geoff's (Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold). I laughed at your comment on the axe. It's the smaller of the 2 weapons that character carries. Love to hear your reaction/analysis of VoicePlay's newest video, Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame) - absolutely mesmerizing.

This song brings tears to my eyes when I'm singing along with it. I really feel the emotion that Geoff brings forward. The emotion of seeing a dark place ahead, but not fearing it, to continue to move forward, with strength in numbers, and never alone.

Geoff actually calls himself a "Baritone with range" . . . . which as someone who also considers himself a "baritone with range" I kinda hate him for 🤪. C2 is my lowest chest note (usually only in the am too) and I can reach an A4 pretty consistently in mixed voice . . . . but he's got well over an octave both directions on me which is both incredible and frustrating :P

I love that Peter Barber, as a operatic bass, called him out in their interview and told Geoff, "No, you are a TRUE bass." Geoff was comparing himself to guys with basso profundo levels, but that's not being fair to himself. Not all basses are Elliott Robinson or Glenn Miller. He may not be a dramatic bass, but he'd be likely a lyrical bass in opera.

Who are these four guys? 😂😂😂😂 Geoff. And the fire is deliberately a lighting fixture since he had to film in the exact same lighting four times. A real fire would have messed with the shadows. Costumes- if you've seen the movie, Kili, Fili, Balfour, Thorin. If you want something beautifully different from Geoff, listen to one of his narrations. His speaking voice is usually around 60hz. Geoff has done four interviews. First was with Bass Singing Central. Second was with the Charismatic Voice. Third, Peter Barber's, and latest was with Tara Simon. If you do manage to get an interview, I'd watch those first, and see what you could add that they haven't covered.

It is indeed all him. This is his preferred way of doing videos. so that he can sing all parts of his arrangements. He also creates the musical accompaniment. Yes he does sing close to the mic, as his voice is not strong enough on the lowest notes. He is not a basso profundo, and even has trouble admitting to being a bass at all! He claims to be a baritone with a bass range. Geoff's range is five octaves and he says his voice never "broke" as such, as some do, it was just a gradual progression. And yes, his tone is beautiful, throughout his range. Stereo helps and headphones make it even better. Geoff doesn't use autotune, which is why he sounds so natural. Because he is!

For context: it's all Geoff. Geoff has a massive chest range (F1-B5), and can sub down to B0. Geoff is the bass of the acapella group Voiceplay, and arranges many of their covers alongside their percussionist, Layne Stein. So not only is he a phenomenal vocalist, Geoff is incredibly knowledgable in music theory as well. Geoff likes to call himself a natural Baritone with a low bass range, and it's become something of a running joke among Voiceplay/Geoff fans that the only thing Geoff CAN'T do is actually admit that he's a bass 🤣 Geoff also has a great sense of humour; when his solo career started taking off around the beginning of the pandemic, hundreds of reactors were watching his videos, and for some reason, many of them could not seem to pronounce his name correctly (pronounced like Jeff). Instead of taking offence and correcting everyone, Geoff ran with it and started naming his clones with different spellings of his name (Jeff, Jeoph, Goff, Geoph, etc) and fans jumped all over it. In short: Geoff is insane. Welcome to the Geoff Castellucci rabbit hole. May your time here be ear-shattering, knee-wobbling, euphoric bliss 😁

@@ondrejlukas326, it's a chest-fry thing Geoff has been doing lately. He uses it within a line. Subharmonics are very difficult to slide up or down once the pitch is locked in... but fried chest notes can be slid without a problem. If you notice, most of Geoff's subharmonics are done at the end of phrases.

I'd roughly quote what Geoff said in his most recent published interview. "whatever range of mine you see online, substract an octave from it and you'll get my actual everyday singable range" So it's probably Ab1 to A5 that he can sing on any given day without straining much, without counting subharmonics. A solid 4 octaves, which is crazy.

I’ve seen him hit a G#1 with no strain. Below that I think he needs sleep before a concert. It’s insane that he can go down that low all day. That’s low, not Tim storm or glen miller low but it enables Geoff to make his notes soft where storm and miller has that hard edge whatever range they sing in. I’m a huge fan of miller and jd summer and love Geoff but he’s different with his range. Not saying better, just different

Geoff has stated that he doesn’t sing very loud. He has to get up close to the mic when he records. I believe that’s very common to bass singers. While for years he has claimed to be a baritone, he does narrations and he is clearly a bass. Peter Barber who is a bass singer in the opera world and a reactor and analyst interviewed him and finally cleared that up😂. He is known on his solo channel for appearing with his clones. Early on he would record more than one layer and film himself but that was early when he was still learning. Now they’re full scale productions pretty much. In only two of his releases that I can think of he appeared by himself: in his rendition of High and Dry and in his cover of Sound of Silence, but we do hear the background vocals - they just don’t appear. he likes to arrange for four and five part harmonies and will film a clone of himself for every part. You might consider looking at his cover of God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen for the holiday season as it is a favorite. I’m not sure if you know that this entire production was him, his wife and a make up artist. Bandmate Eli , who is the tenor in the group VoicePlay, did the lighting programming ahead of time since he could not be there and showed Kathy what to do. Geoff does the arrangement, decides on the video concept, does the video edit, the initial sound edit until it is sent off to Ed Boyer who also mixes for all the large a cappella groups. The musical accompaniment is also by him. He uses a keyboard and plug-ins. If that isn’t enough, on his cover of Ghost Riders in the Sky he also did the cover art. A man of many talents. He also makes all the bread that they eat in their home.🤯
