You are definitely NOT the first reactor who didn't realize that this was one guy performing and singing all the roles. And he does his own arrangements also! For Halloween this year, his release was 'Jack's Lament' (from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', if you're not familiar with that movie or the song, you can watch a clip of that online prior to seeing Geoff's version). And it is one of his few videos where he doesn't show 'the clones' (the separately filmed versions of himself providing the other parts), just has them performing the background harmonies. The reason I particularly would recommend this video is the fact that, besides being a great and entertaining video, you really get to hear him shifting back and forth between his low, middle and upper registers, sometimes within the same phrase!

'All of them' is actually 'one of him'. Geoff's range spans 5 octaves, and his solo tracks feature all his vocals, providing the harmonies. It's difficult on this track (and Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold) for new reactors to realize that it's all him, because of all the makeup. But Geoff ("Jeff") is an amazing artist- he not only provided all the vocals, but he also created the arrangement, and he and his wife shot and edited the video. He's also the bass singer in an equally amazing a cappella group called VoicePlay- they are also well worth listening to- easily the equals of Pentatonix and Home Free- and have a very enthusiastic KZread fanbase. Their rabbithole is deep, fascinating, and so rewarding.

You should also check out House of the rising sun and blackbird. 4 Geoff's no face paint. The group that he is a part of is also something. You should probably check out. Voiceplay is an acapella group that blows the mind with a wall of sound that leaves you speechless and wanting more. They are incredible. They did a cover of Metallica's nothing else matters last year that is amazing.

Haha, welcome to Geoff country! I suggest checking out Geoff's Sound of Silence, and then bouncing around the channel for a while because you really can't go wrong, and then heading over to Voiceplay, the a capella group Geoff sings with, to pick up Valhalla Calling (if you want blood and thunder and more Geoff Notes) or Nothing Else Matters (if you want beautifully profound) or, if you want to hear the other singers in the group and just want a really fun day, they recently turned "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" into just a joyous fun experience. (But really you can't go wrong with Voiceplay either, so if you see a title that speaks to you, go for it.)

Welcome to the world of Geoff (and his clones)! This blew me away the first time I heard it, I think this is one of his best - he really captured the feeling behind the lyrics (which BTW, Ed Sheeran did an awesome job with, as he is a huge Tolkien fan!). This was all Geoff, with the help of his wife, Kathy - and Rick Underwood, makeup/beard wrangler extraordinaire! His colleague from Voiceplay, Eli (Ellie) Jacobson programmed the lighting the day before, as he couldn't be there for the shoot. Both Geoff and Voiceplay do almost all of it themselves, arrangements, direction, costuming, etc., with additional help when needed with camera work, advanced makeup/prosthetics and the final audio mix, which is done by Ed Boyer (who mixes for many acapella groups like Home Free and Pentatonix), they will then sing over the audio track during filming, which makes it look more natural. Being completely independant allows them more creative freedom in what they choose to do, mostly funded by their ever-growing list of Patreon members! For more bassy goodness, check out his cover of 'Sixteen Tons', a mining-related song, best known from Tennessee Ernie Ford in 1955!

Listening to Geoff always, always makes me feel better. He has only been doing solo work since Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay had to stop touring. They concentrated on their video performances and Geoff had a little extra time. Try Geoff's version of an old American folk song, Shenandoah. Then start Voiceplay with Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay!

I think it's a primal thing. If you ever watch wildlife you see that the stag with the lowest voice gets the hinds. It's a signal of his health and strength I suppose. I think we just equate it will masculinity. It definitely vibrates through your body. But Geoff's voice is just so smoothing too. Geoff is also playing the piano though you don't see it in this one. And he did the arrangment, and either or his wife Kathy would have filmed it it, each part seperately. He them adds it all together on computer. He is a genius.

If you can believe it, this isn't even a display of his lowest base. He can hit and sustain awe inspiring low notes. He also has a 4-5 octave range, which he often shows off. What feels most unique, to me, with this arrangement is how he shows off range WITHIN his base scale, with runs that move a lot, but all still in a base register. Also, if Geoff moves you like he moves me, you should check out Tim Foust, as well.

Cats use purring as healing and physical preservation method, as the vibration they cause with it helps muscles and nerves return to their natural place. Also animals use growling before a fight to set their muscle system ready and warm up. So a subharmonic note that creates vibration should have some “healing powers” in a sense.
