Wonderful Anna ! ! Your reactions and comments light up the screen so joyfully ! You can really see how you appreciate and enjoy this marvelous video ! Geoff is a master of creating himself into a quartet ! I most impressed with the arrangement of this song with his gorgeous low register ,fluid flow of harmonies ,canons and timed intervals ! So much going on that you really have to hear a number of times to really appreciate the vocal intricacies he incorporates into his arrangement ! He has made this his own and that's a true artist at work ! It's was a delightful , uplifting and visual beautiful rendition ! Thank you Anna as always for your informative analysis and beautiful reaction ! Keep posting ! 👍🤗🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️

Once again, Anna, this a great reaction video. If you know what "Doo-Wop" music is, or would like to hear it, Tim Foust sings "Would you Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay." Tim layers himself like Geoff has done here. These guys are so talented.

He actually didn't go into subharmonics until that last chord. That, "astray" part was actually in chest. The difference can really be discerned by the timbre of his voice. With the subharmonics, you can actually kind of pick out the octave up that he's singing, though that might be difficult to determine when just learning. The easiest thing to tell by, is the amount of breath that you can hear. with subharmonics, you don't hear much of any breath. With chest, it's definitely audible. Especially when directly compared to a subharmonic. And at the beginning, you mentioned low subharmonics to make it seem "darker". Not subharmonics, but what I think you were mistaking those for were the growls he has in the background. Growls are generally much easier to pick out, as they have a lot of breath to them. Much more than chest. Hope this helps If you see it! Enjoyed your reaction!

This is one of my favorites from Geoff. My all time favorite is probably House of the Rising Sun. The type of subharmonic he likes to use isn't the false fold style. It's the mixed vocal fry + modal voice version (Strohbass). He's lucky enough to have a deep enough voice to not need to utilize Kargyraa. It's always perfect fifths, which allows rather easy octave jumps. If you start in Strohbass you just have to pop out of it and you are already up 1 octave. That's what made the one phrase seem like a crazier jump than it was.

Great performance! I really like strong basses! It seems to be quite difficult to make such a performance? I don't really like the performances of opera singers with individual numbers, arias with an orchestra. Opera singing is harmonious in an opera performance. But I like the classical voices of professionals in various pop and old, canonical chants. I like the analysis in your reaction when listening to it again. I listen to singers with pleasure, but I cannot independently identify the subtleties, nuances of sound and technique. Your tips educate and teach, for which I thank you very much!

I just stumbled across your channel, Anna, and loved your reaction here! Geoff is one of the best a Capella basses out there. There's another a Capella group, Home Free, who have an equally talented bass in Tim Foust. If you're open to it consider reacting to one of their covers or originals. They have a deep catalog but you could start with Folsom Prison Blues or perhaps Try Everything, or how about their cover of American Pie with Don McLean. If you'd prefer a Christmas themed song then there's their cover of Do You Hear What I Hear which is absolutely amazing.

In harmony with this beautiful four male canon version. Anna, analyzing next X-Mas song in 2021? Perhaps Raskasta Joulua, duo song Marko Hietala with Floor Jansen, very touching performance. Otherwise their Ave Maria performance. Wishing you all the best from the Netherlands 🎅🐑🌲🎼.

I always loved singing in choirs, even under bad directors. Illustrative example: during my first semester as a Ph.D. student, I participated in 3 separate singing groups. And of course, graduate studies require focus and dedication, and, surprise, I didn't get my advanced degree. My main regret was not that I didn't graduate, but that few of my directors had your talent, passion and charm.

Especially since the hymns have become standatds an entire congregation can sing along to (at least the refrain). Geoff did some really interesting things vocally here. Heard a bit of his Southern drawl come in at some points as well, which completed yhe trifecta of the Tradtional, “Country”, and Modern influences. (Edit: Fixed a typo - replaced “not” with “some” in the last paragraph as in, “Geoff did some...”)

These kind of comments don’t make people angry, usually quite the opposite. For me it’s the opposite of angry for a couple of different reasons usually. Sad for the commentator because they feel the need to be negative instead of being silent, or sad that they can’t see something for the talent it is even if it’s not their taste.
