The best make everything look easy. I remember when I was a kid in Colorado the Basque shepherds used enormous pairs of scissors, with blades at least a foot long. They sheared as perfectly as you do and with each swipe took off a wide swath of fiber. With same scissors they went perfectly around the head and smaller areas. We loved to watch them. I looked at other shearing channels here on YT and they made me cringe. It's awful to see the struggles and plain misery. I wish more people would learn your techniques, especially how you let the animals wriggle to get comfortable. I can tell you're always about the animals. So you score again for the Aggies. :)

@williambryant59462 жыл бұрын
Since you got the heavy mats off can you go back and clean the sheep off. Will the wrinkles still be there even after you've removed the heavy wool? I'd think that they'd be gone and you could shear the ridges and waves off to get a good clean look. Does leaving those thicker, longer patches affect the way the next coat grows in and or cause trouble next time the sheep is sheared? I found one of your shorts here on googletube and couldn't not watch them all then started watching the longer videos. Never thought I'd want to watch videos of someone sharing sheep, lamas, and alpacas.
@rightchoiceshearing
2 жыл бұрын
The wrinkle would be gone but the extra ridges don’t effect the growth for next year. I’d rather let the sheep get on about their day, the make them wait while I make her “pretty.” 🤘🏻😂
@mokko759
2 жыл бұрын
It makes more sense to just leave the ridges. No need to stress the sheep out any longer just for them to look aesthetically pleasing. The shear is for function, not fashion.
@TheKomentor
2 жыл бұрын
@@mokko759 But why not? It would hardly take a minute or two to do. I would love to have aesthetically pleasing sheep in my farm since I will be looking at them all the time.
@mokko759
2 жыл бұрын
@@TheKomentor In a week, you won't even notice the ridges since wool grows so quickly. Also, it's not about you. it's about the sheep and it's wellbeing. Never stress an animal more than is strictly necessary. Aesthetics be damned, safety and wellbeing of the sheep comes first. A good shearer can shear a sheep in about 2 minutes. If they are taking an extra 2 minutes to clean up the ridges ( which the wool from those ridges is absolutely worthless in fibre production) that's an entire sheep they could have shorn and actually made money on.
@TheKomentor
2 жыл бұрын
@@mokko759 I think the only valid reason seems to be the earning part. The rest seem to be excuses from the shearer's perspective.

There are definitely sheep shows, which can be big money as sheep are big business. However most sheep don’t need a show cut, just a functional one.
Excellent video! The last part about trimming the hooves was very informative. Keep up the good work!
I swear some of them smile when you do this.
I dream of owning a sheep farm, thanks to your videos I learn more every day!
You are very considerate with the animals, and very professional at your job. ❤️
I think you are so great a shearer. Love the look on your face when you cuddle your animal. Love you
Watching you work is mesmerizing. I love sheep.
New to your videos but love them! You have amazing knowledge and gentleness shearing all these adorable furballs!
Love watching the videos you gals produce! 👍 So glad it came up on my You Tube page. Katy your narrative of what we are watching is just as much fun as seeing the blankets roll off! I had a poodle I clipped once a year she fought so bad. The mats came off and it was soooo satisfying. Only Tiger was three pounds and I held her easily in my arms and bribed her with cheese. Keep up the good work. 🤟

Maybe a nice Gouda or extra sharp Cheddar could lull some of those metabolically thrifty fine specimens of sheeply beauty into a bit of a shearing trance to make the shearing spa less stressful! LOL
I like the information that you give on your videos. Each time I watch I learn something. Grew up with Merinos way back when scissors were still used. Keep it going you very interesting🐑🐑🐑
I absolutely love watching you!! I just discovered you so I'm binge watching you for the past hour!!You are fantastic. An all my family lives in Texas, while I was born and raised in Maine. It makes me sad to be without them and to grow up without my 5 aunts and uncles, their spouse sand kids. Klekotta, columbo and Kavanaugh are their last names. But I think you are bad ass and I see how much you love the animals. I love animals so much. They have helped me survive my very hard life. They are more them family to me. Lots of love from Maine!!

That was well done indeed. I look at shearing videos to improve my technique for the most part, but even though I knew this stuff, your presentation was very good and I enjoyed it. Thanks.
Thanks for the explanations! Very much appreciated!
I ran across one of your videos on Facebook and now I can't get enough. Its like ASMR just watching it :D
That was an excellent video. I love watching you shear and the sheep are cute. I learn so much while you talk thru the process. Sorry. I had to edit. My dog came over and leaned on my arm.

Your videos provide great information on something I have no knowledge of. So interesting. So fascinating
Thank you for explaining this. I've wanted to get a lamb for a pet and fleece, so this has been very educational and helped me decide if I can be a responsible owner.

Oddly satisfying but so many cute clouds with 4 legs
So interesting to learn about shearing these animals with heavy coats. I dread to think how hot they get in the Texas. Thanks for the videos. Jane in London UK
I love watching your videos!! So informative!!

The wrinkle would be gone but the extra ridges don’t effect the growth for next year. I’d rather let the sheep get on about their day, the make them wait while I make her “pretty.” 🤘🏻😂

It makes more sense to just leave the ridges. No need to stress the sheep out any longer just for them to look aesthetically pleasing. The shear is for function, not fashion.

@@mokko759 But why not? It would hardly take a minute or two to do. I would love to have aesthetically pleasing sheep in my farm since I will be looking at them all the time.

@@mokko759 I think the only valid reason seems to be the earning part. The rest seem to be excuses from the shearer's perspective.
Your the boss! Though they can't verbalize it, you rock!
Sis you forgot the crusties on that one eye at the 0:42 mark🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it wasn’t close enough for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 (I felt that eye booger in my soul)🤣🤣🤣🤣 we love y’all

This was so interesting I watch you all the time.
There should be absolutely no reason in this world that everyone shouldn't be able to get their dream employment. So I must ask do you love 💕 what you do? Because it seems that you really enjoy your work and you seem really good at what you do.

to be fair there are always going to be jobs that are no one's dream job but they still need to be done.
You haven’t been in my feed lately! I’ve missed you!
Love your videos you make this process look far easier than I imagine it is! I'd like to ask what is done with wool that you load up?
Never seen a Channel grow faster! Well done & deserved ! Very Entertaining Videos :-D Greetings from Germany sends CarpenterBea .

LOVE THE VIDEO... !!!!!!!
i enjoyed watching your vlog...your fast action ...
As usual a great job done.
I love “metabolically thrifty” 🤩
I watched another video with a wild sheep that had not been shared in 5 plus years and I really wish you had been the one to do her shearing because the guy who worked on her cut her up so badly it just broke my heart. As a former farmer who used to own sheep I understand that a nick can happen but this poor animal was cut up so badly it just broke my heart and all I could think of was she needed somebody with your skill and patience to do it.

That would have definitely freaked me out too, Sally. I would have quit watching pronto as I consider that a form of animal abuse.
