I have a chubby sheep and we found her on her back,legs pointing to the sky lol we assume she had slipped down the dam embankment ( she couldn’t get herself up 😐) Just to clarify she’s fine .. Grass fermenting in a sheep’s stomach produces gas, and if the sheep is on its back the gas can't escape. As the gas builds up in the sheep's stomach it causes pressure on the lungs, eventually preventing it from breathing.

Wild sheep shed their coat. Domesticated sheep can't.

@@chaseesahc3100 They were bred that way. if domestic sheep shed their wool, we wouldn't be able to produce enough for the demand. People say it's cruel how domesticated animals are, but it's far more cruel to just abandon them to fend for themselves like that.

It is cruel to breed an animal so that it loses its ability to survive on its own. This sheep suffered like this because humans bred these from wild sheep that could shed the coats by themselves. Also, mulessing sheep is cruel.
@teethcoat4274

@@salonikamat9048 Agreed, although saying mulesing is cruel is kind of like saying circumcision is cruel, it's painful but at least it prevents flystrike

What's also ironic is that the giant wool coat probably helped him survive just as much as it burdened him, as it would be a portable winter shelter and the local predators would be unable to actually hurt him. Of course, this likely also came at the price of being tortuously heavy to move around in, dangerously hot during summer, and unable to see anything that isn't directly below him.

@FloatingOer
3 жыл бұрын
@@GicN They were not this fluffy in the wild, after domestication humans bred sheep to grow more and more wool that we could shear off of them for our own use. So to answer your question: they survived evolution by having humans shear them before the wool grew too big.
This demonstrates that humans are not the only beings that have a will to survive.
