DALLAS: J.R. RETURNS - 1996 Clip (J.R. ALWAYS Wins)

Комедия

This is a clip from the CBS Special Movie Presentation of "Dallas: J.R. Returns", the first of two reunion movies for the 1978-91 CBS soap saga "Dallas". This movie originally aired Friday, November 15, 1996.
John Ross "J.R." Ewing, Jr. (Larry Hagman) is greeted by throngs of businessmen after victoriously walking out of WestStar headquarters as the company's new chairman. He is then greeted by his seething brother Bobby (Patrick Duffy), who is not pleased with J.R.'s latest scheme. J.R. explains that Bobby's true heart is not behind being a rancher, but by being a businessman in the oil industry. He also knew that Bobby couldn't bear the thought of selling the family ranch, Southfork, now that family is living under the same roof again . This is why he set things in motion to where a Ewing would get control back of Ewing Oil and that he would become WestStar's chairman.
Later that day, J.R. is greeted back at Southfork by his son John Ross Ewing III (Omri Katz) and his nephew Christopher (Christopher Demetral). Bobby also joins the group with his new lady friend Julia Cunningham (Rosalind Allen). Bobby reveals a surprise of his own to J.R.: He sold half of Ewing Oil to his new partner, Sue Ellen Ewing (Linda Gray), J.R.'s ex-wife.
Bobby and Julia leave with Christopher, while J.R. questions Sue Ellen in why they screwed him out of Ewing Oil. Sue Ellen says that of all the reasons she may have wanted to do it, she did because she wanted to prove to J.R. that she was just as strong and tough as he was and even suggests it could be the best thing that happened to their relationship. J.R. looks at his ex-wife with a newfound, grudging respect as she walks away.
John Ross looks curiously at his father and asks why didn't Bobby and Sue Ellen's scheme upset him. J.R. just merely states facts. With Bobby running Ewing Oil again, he is no longer selling Southfork. Sue Ellen is staying with the family to help Bobby and to protect her share of the family interests. He then tells John Ross that he is now staying in Dallas and will learn the oil business from him, essentially getting back everything that he lost on the show's final episodes.
John Ross looks at his father and tells him that it sounds like he planned it all to happen the way it did, if not exactly. J.R. grins at his son, and tells him that he's learning already. The movie ends with a freeze frame of J.R.'s grin.

Absolutely. What they did to JR. after Jock died, was terrible. Had him neutered big time. For him to get West Star away from Carter McKey was awesome.

Between the end in 1996, and 2012 reboot, things happened with J.R. at that time. Sue Ellen went to Europe with John Ross during this period. Hagman himself mentioned during the promo for the 2012 reboot that he lost $2 Billion. Something had to have happened between this movie in 1996, and the 2012 reboot that caused him to lose that money.
