Good because like the last few series of the original JR was still a buffoon in these. At least TNT set JR back to the early 80s version with great lines and proper menace again. The Afton /Sanitarium plot is just a terrible borrowing of the original plot and shows a lack of ideas.

I would have to think that the biggest reason for that would be demographics. They were trying to get a wide range of viewers for the new version (beyond just former Dallas viewers) and let's just say Josh and Jesse look a lot better with their shirts off than Omri and the past Christophers did in 2012.
@RogerBates7

Also, Omri, and all the Christophers, have retired from acting and moved into other things as adults. Since John Ross and Christopher were the stars of that version, they definitely needed polished professionals to play the leads.

Waaayyy too late for that!
I still got this on VHS, I remember recording it the night it aired. Eight years later I used clips of it for a broadcasting project.
Cliff Barnes looked like Benny Hill on that reaction shot when JR appeared.
This is clearly after 1995 because Sly has the great Rachel haircut 🙌🏼 💇♀️
The reboot of Dallas on TNT ignores all the events of the television movies from the 1990's. All dreams apparently.
@nudisco300
2 жыл бұрын
Good because like the last few series of the original JR was still a buffoon in these. At least TNT set JR back to the early 80s version with great lines and proper menace again. The Afton /Sanitarium plot is just a terrible borrowing of the original plot and shows a lack of ideas.
Without J.R., Dallas would've been just another tv show.

I would have to think that the biggest reason for that would be demographics. They were trying to get a wide range of viewers for the new version (beyond just former Dallas viewers) and let's just say Josh and Jesse look a lot better with their shirts off than Omri and the past Christophers did in 2012.
@RogerBates7
Жыл бұрын
Also, Omri, and all the Christophers, have retired from acting and moved into other things as adults. Since John Ross and Christopher were the stars of that version, they definitely needed polished professionals to play the leads.
Some of these lines in the writing are classic. I miss this show - it was a fave! I loved all of the actors.
The ending! Jr style lmaooooo 🤣🐖🛻
This marks the end of Sly's business & personal relationship with JR. after 15 years working together. I guess even Sly has her limits to JR's conniving schemes.

Shame they decided to totally forget these 2 specials when they rebooted the series. It had more continuity than the updated version. I mean when JR died (for real, RIP Larry Hagman) in the reboot, where was Sly at the funeral?

Dallas, J.R. Ewing, brilliant!!!! There are few characters, and few shows, that could produce as many shocks, twists and turns, and with such entertainment, and delight, as this absolutely fantastic show!!!! Absolute delightful nonsense, wonderful. 😊
When Sue Ellen ask cliff how he is doing? He goes actually pretty good! Well hell I wonder why could it be because he actually thinks his arch rival is dead! Lol! But when he sees JR get off the back of the pig truck! He ain't pretty good then! The look on his face on his face is priceless! He looks like he's about ready to have a heart attack or a stroke! Lol! Every time I watch that scene I laughed my ass off!
Dallas was the best of shows. Who shot JR and the big reveal of who did it were the questions of the era.
Everyone had a look of shock on their face seeing Jr alive
It looked like Cliff was going to have a heart attack at the memorial!!!!

Like the dream season this is not cannon and never happens Dallas 20012 to 2014 is cannon...and ignored this . Tho originally they were going to agnoleadge it. The main reason this movies are ignored is they brought in a diffrent rebecca barnes, cliffs daughter , in Dallas 2012 to 2014

I don't think it ever gained a strong enough audience outside of the "old" Dallas fans and once Larry (and consequently JR) died, they no longer were interested in it. I would've liked to have seen it go on. They could've done more with the series.
